Why Have Evans And Carr Been Cut But Not Fox?

25 posts in this topic

Why have WR Lee Evans and CB/RET Chris Carr been cut but not CB Domoneque Foxworth? Fox was making more than Carr, and Carr was much more successful. Are we waiting for Fox to retire? Anyone know what's going on?

hes having a medical and if he passes it they will redo his contract, probably vet min or something. He was obviously prepared to reduced his salary while the other may not have been... They probably feel they will get more money testing the market than we want to pay.. fox on the other hand probably wouldnt even get an offer, so we hold the power, fox on very little money, if he is fit again is a win win for us

They're waiting on results from a physical Foxworth took. He'll end up being cut, but they do want to check the results to see if bringing him back at a much cheaper rate would be possible.

Or, depending on the severity of his injuries, is there a chance he may retire and the Ravens will save money against the cap?

This is what I was thinking. I think if he retires or there is an injury settlement they might save cash so they wanted to see what the results were before thy made a move.

this. have a physical done. redoing the contract to fit the team. if he performs well.... its a win because we're getting the performance but without the price. but if he doesnt? no worries on our part... the other 2 would demand more money than the ravens are willing to give.

Exactly. If he passes the physical and returns to his late '09 form our secondary will be nasty. He'd be a good nickel and he's quick enough to deal with the slot receivers.

Guys he's never going to be good as an NFL player. Even before all the injury problems, Domoneque Foxworth still sucked in 2009. Plus I think this is one of those injuries where you never truly recover, besides what money Fox is making.

Anyway, thanks for the insight everybody.

i believe you are right, if the physical comes back good and fox agrees to play for the vet minimum (as you said, he's not going to get offers thrown at him after two years on the sidelines), then we are in a comfortable situation... webb recovered very well after his injury and came back strong to show he can play, why wouldn't fox do it too... makes sense to me. and having a good corner at the vet minimum, even if he's going to be a back-up, that is a very good deal.

Foxworth is another very soft player ala Lee Evans. We dont need soft players,we need more Vonta Leach's and
Pollard's .They play like Ravens! The AFC North is a very physical division, arguably the most physical in the NFL.
I would not bring him back even for the vet minimum.

2 different players whose bodies can recover totally different from each other.

As long as he passes his physical, I would not mind keeping him for a cheap price. I'm sure no one else would take him.

What is up with this idea that no other team will sign Foxworth or Evans, Donte Stallworth didn't do much here and that didn't stop the Redskins from taking a chance on him.

If you're a half decent defensive back then teams will want you

Stanford Routt had multiple teams chasing him immediately after being cut
Hell Frank Walker is still in the league

For vet min or a little over I'd certainly bring Fox to camp and see how he gets on.
Webb and Fabien Washington both had bad injuries and made it back, Washington later getting signed by the Saints

Give Foxworth a shot in training camp

Maybe they're hoping he retires? IDK, whatever the case I really don't see him playing for the Ravens next season with the salary he has.

Ozzie wanted to see if he had anything left to offer. He obviously didnt due to his failed physical today so he is gone
