Grubbs Or Mckinney?

41 posts in this topic

If I were to say who was the better player, I'd say Grubbs.

If I were to replace a player on the team however, I would also pick Grubbs. There are multiple guards on the market who are better than Grubbs (Jake Scott, Evan Mathis) that we can get for cheaper. Just remember the Jason Brown/Matt Birk scenario of a few years ago.

Decent pass protecting tackles are much harder to find.

Bryant Mckinnie was respectable at best at the LT position. Could he be better? Sure..he wasnt in the BEST shape he could have been last year. However the fact of the matter is he is a FA so is one of our best offensive line pieces Ben Grubbs. I think we could find fresh talent at the LT in the draft or bymoving around our own players like mabey if Jah Reid were t step up to the plate. But if Grubbs were to go else where in FA I wouldnt be astounded if we were to real in BigMac and go for a guard in the draft. It all really depends on the nature of free agency, that will fill alot of important holes for us, and possibly leave some important holes unfilled where we would have to strike when the draft comes along.

I don't even know why this is even a question, no disrespect. Grubbs is clearly the better player and much younger/important to what we are built for.Not to take anything away with how McKinnie played this year because he was very solid for the most part. I don't really see why McKinnie would have anything to do with keeping Grubbs either or vice versa.

I think Mckinny and Gruubs are both specail lineman. I wood like to try nd keep them both butt I'm not so good with numbers and not so sure that would work. I do no that Ben is younger so mabe we should try and target him and make him into a de cuz we need a better pass rush nd i think he would fill tht void perfect. after tht get rid of flecco and sign payton mannon than also promote cam to hc and make jon dl coach.

For a second I thought you were serious. But I'd take Grubbs over Bryant any day. We have Reid who is huge and I believe could take on a starting role sometime. Especially with an off season.

Preston alluded to the notion that if we are able to keep Grubbs, it could come at the expense of cutting Bryant McKinney. If Grubbs signs elsewhere, we'd keep Bryant.

So which would you prefer?

My choice is keep Grubbs and draft Mike Adams in first round and then take Brewster, Jones or Polk in a later round.

Of course I say keep Grubbs, he's more in our long term plans than McKinnie is. I'm still not sold on Adams, but agree with the Ben Jones pursuit; Georgia's OL was great last year.

if we let mckinnie go, drafting Mike adams is likely or mid round LT, unless jah reid can play LT which i haven't heard to this point if he is capable of doing that. whatever we do, please don't put oher back at LT. RT or G, but not LT.

I said this earlier, but McNeil really concerns me. He's a two-time pro-bowler, just 28, missed only 2 games his first 4 seasons. Now the Chargers are ready to cut bait with him and go with Jared Gaither, a guy who started for the first time in 3 years last year and who has only started 33 games in his entire 6 year career. Is it really the case of the Chargers not wanting to pay McNeil when Gaither is cheaper, or do they know something about McNeil's health that we don't?

They love Gaither in San Diego and he is actually played well in the few games he played for the Chargers. I think Gaither knows that after the Kansas City fiasco he better get it in gear. If Gaither can stay healthy and motivated he is a beast.
