God I hope Brees walks. I don't even like the Saints, but it would be awesome for him to sign elsewhere. He's my favorite QB ever. He doesn't need to be in this mess
Brees was involved also. He purposely beamed a ball at Jared Allens knee last year making him cry.
Lol just playing hahaha.

This. I was shocked at how dirty they played us. My brother and I left that game stunned because the Saints had such a pristine reputation. Now we know what all the cheap shots and late hits were about. I guess they don't show the extra-curricular stuff on TV and you only see it in person.

It's all New Orleans jazz and poor old hurricane crap.

Thats what I'm thinking. It could actually kind of help Ravens a little. If Saints franchise Brees (which looks like they will).
Then they most likely wont be able to resign Carl Nicks. It could also affect how teams who were interested in going after Grubbs could change their approach and try to push for Nicks. It could also be bad for us if Nicks gets paid bank before Grubbs does.
I thought Nicks was more sought out than Grubbs to begin with.

From my understanding Nicks was almost a lock to stay there. The wanted to put franchise on him, but now it looks like Brees will get it.

So much is coming out right now. Jonathon Vilma apparently offered 10,000 to knock Brett Favre out, apparently Williams had a bounty system during his time in Washington, and four Redskins players confirmed it. Tony Dungy out of nowhere has come out and said the Titans had a bounty on Peyton Manning, funny how he says this when this whole Saints thing blows up. PFT wrote an article suggesting the league should take the Franchise tag away from the Saints.

Go crazy with punishements like after the Spygate. Ban that Gregg Williams fraud from NFL coaching for life, fine the New Orleans Saints half a mil, and the Washington Redskins some cash as well. End this just like Goodell ended the Spygate. (He actually did a good job with that.) Also, make everyone give back the money and donate it to medical institutions. Zero-tolerance policy. Make sure this never happens again. (And I don't care who else has done it.)

I heard about the Washington thing, but it's news to me about the Titans.

This is going from bad, to worse. Lol.

The NFL (Goodell) is going to make an example of the Saints.

go to that peyton manning one, dungy says Philip Daniels (who by the way has admitted to the redskins having bountys when williams was DC) hit on manning started all his neck problems

all these injuries, late hits, dirty play allogetions all seem to have one thing in common... williams as DC

Would it be biased of me to say that if any team doesn't put a bounty on players, it's the Ravens? Ozzie, Bisciotti, Decosta, and Harbaugh just seem to have more class than that. And I know Ray doesn't go out with the intent to injure guys. As Suggs says, we want them healthy. That way there's no excuses.

I suspect the vast majority of the teams have at least informal player pools for big plays. What I doubt is that many of them have bounties for injuries.

copied from another site -

From the NY TIMES

"According to a memo sent to N.F.L. teams explaining the situation, money was contributed to the pool by at least one outsider, Michael Ornstein, a marketing agent who is close to Payton. Ornstein pledged $10,000 toward a quarterback bounty in the playoffs during the 2009 season, and offered substantial sums toward a bounty on an opposing quarterback last season on at least two occasions — once in an email to Payton.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...iltyplea100510

This same Ornstein was involved in all kinds of criminal stuff:

From Yahoo:

"Ornstein is a former league employee who pleaded guilty in 1995 to scheme to defraud the league of $350,000.

“Knowing Orny the way I do, there’s no question that he’ll do whatever he has to do to save himself, and that could be very bad for a lot of people,” one of the aforementioned sources said. “You’re talking about a lot of money changing hands. A lot of money and a lot people.”

Despite the prior conviction, Ornstein maintained an insider’s presence throughout football. He was a regular on NFL and NCAA sidelines, at NFL owner meetings and a confidant to both pro and college players and coaches.

Ornstein, who also once worked for the Raiders, most recently served as marketing agent for New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush(notes). Ornstein was named last summer in the NCAA infractions case against USC for providing extra benefits to Bush and his family during the player’s junior season with the Trojans.

I don't want to say that this has anything to do with the Saints hosting the 2013 Super Bowl, but this bounty talk comes up at an interesting time for the Saints, could this be the START of the Super Bowl Host Curse that has plagued teams in the past.

Exactly. Gregg Williams did this thing for years and years and when he gets busted comes out with a big fancy apology. Not buy'in it!

Oh course not, and I'm sure more details will come up about it. He's going to get hit hard.

I think Greg Williams is done. There is at least a good possibility. The implications against Williams will be huge, especially because of the Manning neck injury, the Favre injury, and the ultimate injury that led to Warner hanging up his cleats. If he's not publicly done, he may be privately. I am not sure how he can salvage his image now. He's also going to bring down Payton & Fisher as well, because they are closely related to him at this point. Fisher hired him, and Payton was his previous boss.

I would hate to be the Rams, Titans, Redskins, & Saints right now. Especially the Saints.

The problem here isn't that they are betting on who will take our Favre, or anything like that. It's made to look like premeditated attacks on players to eliminate their competition's best player. That in and of itself presents a problem. You're promoting injuring other players. Ray Lewis plays to hurt someone--every NFL player does. They will say it. Pollard himself said he plays to hurt you. Pollard also said he doesn't play to injure you. There is a huge difference between playing to injure someone & playing to hurt someone. Williams crossed the line.

Other then dismissing him from the D coordinator spot and his connections to Fisher, I hope the Rams don't get in any trouble because quite frankly, I'm not so sure they deserve it.

I don't think the Rams will suffer, but something could happen to Fisher. Fisher is involved in this, too. It seems as if the story is still unraveling, and more could come out than we expect. If we find out Fisher & Payton both knew & condoned it, then you could see them receive a suspension or a penalty of some form.

I didn't think Sean Payton was classless. You don't know what goes on behind closed doors, but I don't think our team is like that
Well, I guess classless was the wrong word. It's about the players' motivation. I'm pretty sure our players aren't motivated by injuring opponents. I would bet that most good defenses aren't, because they don't need to be. They don't need to injure guys to be successful. Bad defenses, on the other hand, like the Saints', would be more inclined to be motivated by injuring players because they have trouble stopping them on ability alone. I suspect this goes on a lot more than we have realized up until this point.

I also realize that something like the sum of $10 thousand for an injury is chump change for some high-profile players, so this is probably a smaller deal than it sounds. If you told your friend he'd get $5 for hurting someone you didn't like, he'd probably take it as a joke because $5 is not a big deal to average people. $10,000 is probably equally a joke for a high-paid defender, and the whole "bounty" thing might've just been a product of a sense of humor for all we know.

EDIT: wait a second, I didn't even use the word classless. But to summarize, I do think the whole "bounty" think might just be the equivalent of a lockerroom joke.
