I thought it would be better to put it all in one thread =).

Yeah, this is definitely for the best. I like Chris Carr sometimes, but he has underproduced a bit. Foxworth has been picked on by injuries, which is unfortunate, but it'd be better to cut him and spare the money, and Lee Evans built up so many hopes in Baltimore, just to tear them down this season. I dislike the Carr cut most, but he can be and has been replaced. Good luck to them though, pleasure!

Excluding Evans on offense, I am crossing my fingers that this is all the cuts and losses from the defensive side of the ball!

Carr and Foxworth? Aren't they cornerbacks?

Cuts are no surprise, I am more interested in JJ and Birk's future as Ravens. Birk is old and struggled down the stretch and JJ is one dimensional and we would have to outbid the Jets and maybe the Colts. Personally he isn't worth it, especially in a league where we are passing much more than running the ball.

Totally expected. All three were being paid a lot of money to be the 3rd/4th options at their positions, and Fox may end up retiring his injury is so bad. However, all three had their moments here, and I wish them all success on their new teams in the future - if Fox retires, I definitely think he has a great second career all lined up, and I wish him much success in it - we all know how instrumental he was in bringing the lockout to an end and getting a new labor deal done, and I think the NFLPA and the owners would benefit greatly from having a guy like Fox on board.

i feel bad for foxworth. He had the worst luck of any player we've ever had. And he's a really good guy, I hope for the best for him.

I wish these guys the best of luck. I'm certain they'll find a job on another team.

I wouldn't be surprised if a team like Dallas takes Foxworth or Carr.

Any predictions on who else they release? If anyone? Everyone in & outside of Maryland expected these 3 to be gone.

I could see David Reed, though it probably won't be until after camp.

I agree. I think they are going to try and rehabilitate Reed in his KR role while drafting a guy, and then let them fight it out - if the draftee (Marquis Maze, maybe?) beats out Reed, I think he will go. However, sad to say, we sort of NEED Reed because maybe the only guy on the team who returns as well as he does (when he doesn't fumble, that is) is Webb, and there is no way they're going to put their best corner in a position where he could be hurt again.

That's why I see the Ravens targeting a return man & putting him as a priority. Reed is very good when he does well. When he is bad, he is REALLY bad. I actually would be for keeping Reed if he wasn't always hurt. Second year in a row where he went IR. If he can't stay healthy, what good is he? I want Maze (WR), Wylie (WR), Hilton (WR), Broyles (WR), Harris (CB), Rainey (RB) to return for us. They are some of the best return prospects I have seen this year that would be there on day 3 for us.

The only bad part about this release is that I don't know how much money it will save us in the end - I just read that Rice's tag will be 7.7 million, and that our total cap savings as of now (not including RFAs and EFAs) will be 11.25 million before the tag - meaning we will have about 3.5 million in cap room, if I'm reading the article right.

Devon Wylie impressed me at the Combine. He reminds me of Wes Welker somewhat. I wouldnt mind having him come in as a 6th or 7th round pick to return for us, and maybe contribute as a receiver as well.

I am ok with these cuts....Foxworth should never have been signed..he was not that effective in Denver. Evans was overhyped and was a huge letdown taking his injury into consideration.

I think the only issue with Evans is that he was the number 1 go to guy. He now is competing for the number 2 spot because either Torrie emerges or Boldin secures the number 1...

Evans was not the #1 guy. Boldin has always been the #1. Torrey took the #2 from Evans when he got injured. Evans was the #3 receiver on our roster.

He was never the number 1 guy here... I never said he was.. What I meant to say was that prior to the trade while he was still a Bill he was there number 1 guy... In the history of Lee Evans he was a number 1 receiver in another city...

personally, i hope Evans comes back at a cheaper price, reason being because he never truly got a chance to show what he can do , because of the injury. get that out of the way and make sure Cam includes him in the gameplan and im sure he can show more than what he did last season.

Now if the man continues to slide and doesnt produce like we know he should and can, then let him go, but as of right now i strongly feel that the man deserves at least one more shot. you cant exactly flaw a person because of an injury. and label it as " he didnt produce" thats a catch 22.
