I wonder if he'll get that pro bowl invite this year...I can see him, Koch, Reed, Lewis, maybe McGahee, and maybe McClain, going to Hawaii.

i agree haloti is a monster i would be surprised if he didnt get the invite as well as Koch Reed Lewis but im gonna go on a limb and say maybe Mcallister depending on the remainder of the season rather than mcgahee

Lest we forget, guys, there is a VERY good chance that 2010 will be played without a Salary Cap, so locking up Suggs long-term this offseason should be one of our biggest priorities.

I agree with all of those guys except Haloti. He's a beast. I'd go as far as saying he is second only to Ray and Ed in terms of importance to the D.

ngata is better than any dt in the nfl so is gregg and now the he is hurt looks like bannan is gonna be the next best thing since gregg

Bannan looks solid for us right now, but not as much impact as Gregg. I think we should draft an NT in the 1st round, maybe in the next couple of years when Gregg's time is up. with that and a DE, we should be okay in the front seven.

I don't think he'll take the $8.1 mil this season, he'll demand it...damn it, hope it doesnt turn out like last training camp! :o

Players I fear for our defense when they retire or leave

Ed Reed Dawan Landry

Samari Rolle* Chris McAllister*
Terrel Suggs Ray Lewis * Jarret Johnson

Haloti Ngata Justin Bannan Kelly Gregg* Trevor Pryce*

The ones with the *s are the ones that are getting up in age.

Im not worried about our safety spot as we have Nakamura and Zbikowski.
We will probably need some corners. Washington can take C-Mac but who would take Rolle when they go?
Bannan and Ngata are good. Its the other 2 we need to replace when they go.

We should keep Suggs he is as tough as Ray, plays like a true Raven, and doesn't get injured often actually he's never missed a game (knock on everything).
We should pick up a CB in Free Agency. Maybe we can pick up Chris Gamble or trade for Richard Marshall from Carolina. I would also like to draft one since we need depth here. A Tall deep threat WR would be great for Flacco (I still think DW can be that guy, we should test out 6'5 220lb Ernie Wheelwright, plus we have Justin Harper on IR.) I would really like a proven free agent tho, since a great NFL WR can be hard to pick in a draft. For DE we picked up Marques Douglas, Brandon McKinney (He made a few plays against Miami, he looks like he has great upside), Lamar Divens (I heard those at SD were really upset they lost him), and we have Dwan Edwards on IR (coaches and players said he's improved alot). If a great DE presents itself in the draft I say we take it. Since we have OLB Prescott Burgess, ILB Brandon Ayanbadejo, OLB Jameel McClain, OLB Antwan Barnes, ILB Nick Greisen and ILB Tavares Gooden, I think one of them can be promoted and take Bart Scott's place if we cant affod to keep everbody on defense after this year. I would like Tavares to get it if his hip surgery goes well and he improves for next season.

Baltimore needs Suggs to stay a Raven. Watching him play is like watching a young Lewis, and once Ray retires, I think Suggs will be our new face of the defense (possibly franchise)

The big contracts have to go to the young guys. Suggs and Ngata. Ray Lewis should get a contract extension for his role as a motivational leader. I would like Reed to stay around.

As much as it hurts to say, everybody else is replaceable. C-Mac, Rolle, Pyrce. If they are asking for huge contract extension when their time is up, then it's probably best to part ways. Only C-Mac was on the superbowl team, so we can "plug-and-play" on defense better than any team. We will need to address CB position during the offseason.

I can see us unloading Pryce and Rolle before their contracts are even up if we pick up some fresh meat this coming draft. Honestly, for the money we pay Rolle and Pryce, we are not getting the production we need from them. Mainly because they just cant stay on the field.

Well so far Pryce has been on the field more than last season, and Rolle just has bad luck with his epilepsy problem. I wish the best of both of them, but we need young talent eventually.

When you write it like "Rolle and Pryce" it almost looks like "Rolls-Royce". Which would make sense. A pricey car which you rarely take out of the garage.

Like I stated in another thread, I hope we can keep him and give him an incentive loaded deal, instead of HUGE gaurenteed dollars.

but you gotta remeber it comes down to what suggs wants. cuz he already proved he wont play unless he is getting paid. then again that was for a losing team this team looks to have way more positive then neg. so i see him sticking around.
Another year of Cam means another year of failure oh well theres always 2012.

i agree that the big contracts should go to the young guys cause they are the futur of our defense
i hope that ray stays with us as emotional leader on the field and off the field hes one of the best LBs to ever play the game and the best motivator a team can have in their roster

rolle and pryce both have a way to high contract i would feel better about them if they stay healthy and play for their money hard but the "rolls-royce" have to go if they are asking for much money cause they are not worth
we should re-sign with C-mac cause we need one veteran on the CB postion and as we saw in the colts game walker is not ready to cover a starting reciever also if hes a talented young CB so we should re-sign C-mac

Either T-Sizzle, Ray Ray, or The Madbacker are going to have to be let go after this season, our Cap situation is obviously the reason why. That being said, in my opinion, we need to hold on to Suggs (who is maybe only 26) and Ray (the clear leader and heart and soul of this team), which leaves Bart Scott out of the mix, unfortunately.

Yeah I agree we definitely need to hold onto Suggs. He's going to be playing in this league for a long time. Ray is getting older but....he's Ray Lewis so it doesn't matter. Scott is the odd man out.

With the latest C'Mac controversy and with him always having something wrong with his body(age) plus the fact that he takes up almost 10 million in cap space next year, I'm not saying, I'm jus saying....

Trade for a WR? and pick up a veteran CB in Free agency? But C'Mac is one of my favorite players so it's hard to even think of something like that happening and it hurts me even more to say....he's definitely not in his prime anymore. :(

Our CBs have dragged our defense down for the last several years and lets face it it's not gonna get any better with 2 (30+) corners that can't stay healthy. The Draft isn't going to fix the problem immediately so it's either more years of hoping they can find a way to stay on the field for the majority of the season or hit the Free Agency looking to save our secondary for a couple of years. We have Martin but if we dropped Rolle or Mac next year we would definitely need a vet to come aboard that has proven he can play in this league.

It wasn't even last game that got me thinking C'Mac wasn't going to be around much longer it's something thats been looiming around for awhile but when Walker took the field over C'Mac last Sunday, it kinda affirmed my previous doubts. I mean an injured C'mac at 50% is better than a healthy Frank Walker at 100% so you know something is up with McAlister.

but yeah, just my thoughts...
