Which Draft Is The Ravens Best?

40 posts in this topic

I have a tie

1996 because it set the foundation and key players for the eventually superbowl run
2008 we got ourselves a franchise quarterback and franchise running back

Your thoughts?

I'm pretty sure I saw the 1996 class on NFL networks top 10 draft classes ever.

You have to go 1996 in terms of talent. Two guys who many consider top 5 at their positions ALL TIME trumps anything else. The two closest drafts might be 07 and 08 where we got Grubbs, Yanda, McClain and Flacco, Rice, Zibby, and Ruki, but even then they're not really that close. 4 pro bowlers and one guy who might be on the cusp cannot touch 2 players considered among the greatest of all time.

Ogden and Ray Ray.

nuff said.

(no offense to Flacco and Rice, but its not even close)

Currently 96 by far. The thing is Joe and Ray have a chance to win multiple rings mostly due to this thing we now have called balance so we should wait a little while. Wasn't it year 5 when Lewis and Ogden finally got their ring? Flacco has a lot of time to cement his spot as one of the best Ravens and already has set multiple records. Last years class could also end up pretty high on that list. Since Harbaugh got here I would say the worst draft was 09 though we did get Kruger, Oher and the ultimate steal Webb.

Still, it will be darn near impossible to beat the 96 class, unless we draft 3 HOF's in 1 class. (not likely to say the least)

2 Future Hall of Famers and our first 2 draft picks ever or Flacco (who is our best qb ever) and Rice (who isn't our best RB ever)......

Gonna have to go with Ra Lew and JO!

1996 has to been the best draft ever JO could have easily been the 1st pick we got him at the 7th pick overall...
Ray could have been top 10 and we got him late in the 1st...

1996.
Imagine what the Ravens would have been without JO...
But what about with no Ray Lewis? I dont even want to think about that.

96, and 08. In 10 years, with hopefully a few Superbowl wins, I think the 2008 draft could maybe compare with 96. the 2011 draft has a bright future as well. We could, potentially, get 4 starters out of that draft with Jimmy, Torrey, McPhee, and Reid.

JO and Ray Lewis in one draft, 1996 was one of the best drafts of all time in the NFL. 2008 does not compare, at least not yet. But with a franchise QB, NFL leader in yards from scrimmage pro bowl RB, along with several contributors that are still with the team, it was a hell of a draft.

1996 by far.

I was just looking through the drafts out of curiosity, and noticed that when Ozzie hits, he really hits, but when he misses, it's pretty bad. He doesn't miss often (and I'm only counting rounds 1-2). I just found it interesting that we either have a superstar, or someone pretty bad. Exclusions: Mark Clayton and Michael Oher, who are both at the least adequate.

1996 is clearly the best. 2008 holds second, but this 2011 class is showing massive potential and could overcome the 08 class.

The 2005 draft class, every single one of our picks are still tearin it up for us now!
