Contract details of Robert Mathis' new contract is out and I'm shocked the Colts spent this much money on a 31 year old DE.

Mathis signed a 4 year $36 Million contract with $15 Million Guaranteed. So let me get this straight, now put aside Peyton's neck injury and the fact Andrew Luck is basically sitting in their lap, but why pay Mathis $31 Million but yet they may not want to pay $28 Million to Peyton? If it was up to me, I'd rather keep Peyton and pay him the $28 Million rather give Mathis $36 Million.

Despite signing Stevie Johnson, the Buffalo Bills are rumored to be one of the 9 to 10 teams who will be interested in signing Chargers Receiver Vincent Jackson.

From Aaron Wilson's Twitter:

Saints will work out WR Randy Moss on Tuesday.

http://rotoworld.com...moss-on-tuesday

Too bad Randy Moss is washed up, if he went to New Orleans and was still good it would be like 2007 all over again except Drew Brees playing the part of Tom Brady.

Its simple. Its not the money thats paid, but how its paid. Peyton is worth 35 million in actuality this season where as Mathis barring front loaded and backloaded contract terms, is worth 9 million per year on average. To put Peyton's salary into perspective, thats roughly a fourth of the colts' total salary cap. (35/120-125 million). Mathis on the other hand is getting 9 million a year and completes one of the best sack tandems in all of football and is currently one of the only 3 players that shine on the abysmal thing called the colts defense.

Yeah but we saw what happened last season, it wasn't Mathis who all of a sudden made the team a 2-14 team by not playing, it was Manning. I think paying Peyton, especially since it has become a QB driven league, makes the most sense and trading the # 1 Pick if Peyton is healthy is even better. I think Peyton is more valuable to the team then Mathis is, plus Mathis has played in a 4-3 his whole career, now he is going to be asked to play a 3-4 OLB, something he may not be able to play.

The Falcons have agreed to a new contract with Safety Thomas DeCoud. Terms have not yet been disclosed.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/06/falcons-agree-to-contract-with-thomas-decoud/

Maybe there is a chance that Luke Kuechly could drop in the draft after all, the Eagles are interested in LB Dan Connor who is set to become a Free Agent next week, and also LB Stephen Tulloch has been mentioned as getting interest from the Eagles.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/06/panthers-dan-connor-a-free-agent-target-for-the-eagles/

Mario Manningham wants to stay a Giant despite no progress on a new deal at this time.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/06/no-progress-on-new-deal-but-manningham-wants-to-remain-with-giants/

Okay heres where I agree and disagree

I agree with trading the #1 pick if Manning is healthy. Its not just manning whose aging. They can avoid a severe rebuild by trading the pick. They may not become or beat the Texans, but they can avoid a severe rebuild on both sides of the ball

I think Mathis can play the 3-4 olb role.

I don't think Peyton is worth 35 million though. I dont think he or any player for that matter is that valuable to their team. The reason the colts went from 10+ teams to 2-14 is because of complete ineptitude of the organization as a whole. They had no decent back up qb. They let Manning completely control and adjust that offense to a system that only he could run. They gave Peyton complete control of the offense. No team should ever give any player that much control especially a quarterback who is the target of every defense.

From what people saw at the workout Randy looked like his old self. He was running routes well, fast, smooth and people left the workout with their jaws dropped and their expectations baffled.

The Colts are most likely to trade or cut DE Dwight Freeney before the draft due to his massive $19M cap hit and Pagano's 3-4 defense.

Well I don't see how they would prefer Vincent Jackson who is 29 over a 25 year old Mike Wallace, I mean you get 4 more years out of Wallace than Jackson but at the same time signing Jackson allows them to keep their 1st round pick, while signing Wallace means losing their first round pick. I still think they will go after Mike Wallace and give up the 30th pick of the Draft for him.

Yeah hopefully Wallace, because I don't want him in Pittsburgh nor do I want him on any other AFC Team. I was just reading that Jerry Rice said he thinks the 49ers should go after Peyton Manning and I been hearing that Manning and Wayne could be a package deal so could you imagine the upgrade the 49ers would get if they were able to sign Manning, and then sign Reggie Wayne to go along with Vernon Davis and that defense?

Apparently the Saints and Randy Moss could be closing on a deal after today's workouts. If Moss is back to his old self again, as I said before it will be like 2007 all over again except Brees plays the part of Brady. Also if we thought throwing for over 5,000 yards was impressive last year, imagine how many yards and Touchdowns Brees could throw for with a healthy and better Randy Moss.

Andre Johnson re-doing his deal must mean that the Texans are going to make one final offer to Mario Williams before he could hit Free Agency. If the Texans can re-sign Mario, they are going to be a great team next year.

Apparently the hold up in a new contract for Alex Smith is the contract length. The 49ers have a 3 year contract ready for him but Smith's representatives are looking for a 5 year contract.
