The Ravens almost never move early or big in Free Agency. The last time we did was for Anquan and let's be honest, that hasn't worked out nearly as well as we would have liked. That being said, I think Ozzie & Co. are working on keeping our own guys first. Once that's done, then we know what cap space we have to work with for other pieces. I think we can get Kassim Osgood and Ted Ginn for a steal. We just all need to be patient.
Last year the "sky was falling" when we cut four veterans - guess what? We went 12-4, AFC North Champs, AFC Championship Game appearance. Oz has never steered us wrong (except maybe in the WR department), so I trust him. When the dust settles, everyone in the league will once again be saying "How do the Ravens always find these gems?"

Anquan wasn't a free agent, the Ravens traded a 3rd round pick for him.

Sorry I don't see the Ravens re-signing L. McLain. First, he does NOT want to be in a fullback position, which is why, thankfully, V Leach is here. Second, he does not want to be a back-up. And third, while I like the guy for the most part, he does seem to have a bit of an attitude problem. I say move on, and don't look back....
He wouldn't be a fullback, he'd be the #2 RB as I understand.

I'll bet Ohers good feeling turned bad real quick when he heard about the deal Nicks got. I know mine did. Oh well, I'm sure we'll all feel better if we get Mathis. It looks like his production and price will be a perfect fit. Then go get Chris Myers! NO MATT BIRK!!!

We need a wr, find someone ozzie
Luckily, he won't even have to leave the Castle to find Doss, for example :)

Forget Evan Mathis as our guard. Plug that beast in as DE
Well, first we should sign him - provided Grubbs leaves in the first place (which seems likely at this point).

What about Jason Brown? He is a FA. He had a rough couple years in STL but when he was he in Baltimore he was one of the better young interior linemen in the league. If we could get him for a good price I would be in favor...

Haha, JJ stayed a Raven at heart:

"I told everyone that if I went to Pittsburgh I would have to throw up on my jersey every time I played."

Haha, it looks like you used my nick

As for Doss, we could hear some people saying that Doss could be next season's big thing... Let's hope. Anyways, I see a tedency for our draft classes to make an impact in their second year rather than the first - Torrey and McPhee were rather the nice exceptions. Cody, Pitta, Dickson - all had their second seasons as the breakout one. Next season it might be Jimmy Smith, Doss, Reid, LaQuan Williams maybe Allen - maybe even Chykie Brown, who knows... plus, of course an even better Torrey Smith and McPhee...

and then there are those who we tend to forget about because they were on the IR roster or just not playing, like Harewood, Kindle, McAdoo... All potential surprises, right?

Everyone says let's draft Konz - but we already have a young C on our roster: Cam Newton's brother, Cecil Newton - we don't yet know how good he is...

So, the Castle is full of potential surprises, even without the free agency and the draft...

Forget Mathis, he's not our type of lineman in my opinion.... I'd like to Get Curtis Lofton, or Tulloch if anyone. Also, get maybe Le'ron McClain as a pure RB to have behind Ray Rice. I think that would suit us nicely. Also we can go after a pass rusher if F/A.

@Bio, I agree. People wanna bring in a reciever, well i believe there isnt a reviever out there that is better than the ones we have now that we can afford. Yeah Manningham and Lloyd would be nice, but we cant afford that if we wanna keep the players we have. I bet Doss or Williams can produce the numbers that Royal will put up. We will need to bring in a Guard if Grubbs leave (which is looking like he will) but other than that we need to build through the draft. We have a ton of young talent, and your right they will only get better. Organizations win through the draft!!! We have done a great job of doing that and i have no concerns with what Ozzie and the FO have planned.

Well, Chiefs just signed Peyton Hillis so maybe LeRon McClain could end up becoming available either by trade or FA. Unless you grab Cedric Benson, or maybe hope for a rejuvenated Clinton Portis, McClain would probably one of the best options available. I believe he could have another 2008 type season with Vonta Leach blocking for him.

Mathis makes sense because he can save us quite a few million under the cap and I would like to see Brown back or another young center. I don't want our focus in the draft for our first round pick to be on a center when in my personal opinion it should be on a LB/WR. We still really need a another receiver because let's be honest folks this Anquain Boldin trade hasn't worked out what so ever. He cant get separation from corners and it's becoming more and more obvious that Fitz was a big reason for his success in Zona.... #1 receivers on an NFL team should be getting at least 1,000yds especially for the $$$ we gave him.
