Ok now things are getting more interesting. Apparently Peyton Manning is going to retire today, at least according to this person's sources. Take it for what it is worth, coming from Rob Lowe but according to him Peyton is going to retire. He sounds like a Colts fan as he has tweeted a bunch about the Colts and he even tweets to Rich Eisen to see what Eisen knows about Manning maybe retiring.

What are the chances Peyton retires and becomes the new Head Coach?

0%....Rob Lowe? Hahahahaha!!

I just edited it, apparently he is a close friend of Jim Irsay and if anything, Irsay would know more about the possibility of Manning retiring more than anyone. So maybe there is some truth to it after all but so far nobody has said a word about it or brought it up. It's only on PFT.

I can see Peyton Manning as a VP of Operations in the future...along the lines of what Elway is doing...not a Coach.

The PERFECT situation for him is in Arizona. For a few reasons
1. Despite the 49ers this year, that would be an easy division to win in. Rams are rebuilding and Seahawks are mediocre at best.
2. Like the Colts they are a domed team. Playing in a dome is best for Peyton wherever he goes.
3. The Cardinals have an offensive minded coach in Ken Wisenhunt, so that could only benefit Peyton.
4. Most importantly, they have a weapon there called Larry Fitzgerald.

Uh... If Peyton went to Arizona, I would call David Stern to veto that trade because Manning throwing to Fitzgerald is just unfair to the rest of the league!

The article above state something interesting and I quote....
Let’s consider for a moment the very small possibility that Lowe is right. If he was right, we’d fully expect Manning’s father and agent to deny the story until Manning was ready to talk.
Now me, my personal opinion....All I have to say is if Peyton has not denied the report then you better believe that something might be in the rumbles. Because any player would be quick to shoot down a rumor like this if it were to be false, which leads us to believe that if Peyton has done that yet then he must be waiting to announce it.

In my personal opinion, Archie Manning is trying to live his life through his sons. Remember it was Archie who helped Eli get out of San Deigo, hell who knows if it was Archie who convinced Eli to tell SD to not draft him. Now as you point out above, look also at the past comments. It was Archie who made the comment about Manning and Luck not being able to work together, and here Archie, not Peyton is denying that he will retire. Peyton hasn't said a word, and maybe Peyton wants to make this decision on his own, maybe that's why he hasn't talked to daddy, again he probably wants to make this decision on his own which again is why his agent wouldn't know anything about it either.

Now that I think about it. It might a a bit unfair, but I think at same time I think Peyton passing to Fitzgerald would be dirty. Plus I feel like if Peyton would go to Arizona, then he could convince Cardinals to sign Reggie Wayne. Imagine an offense. Beanie Wells, Peyton Manning, Larry Fitz and Reggie Wayne. That would be so dirty!

Jim Irsay tweeted in response to Lowe:

"My sources tell me Rob will star in an epic remake of "Deep Throat" with aging porn stars and 4 finger circus clowns!"

Rob Lowe said this on Rich Eisen's Podcast about his source and that it wasn't from Jim Irsay that he heard it from.
“Absolutely not. It wasn’t Jim or anyone close to Jim.” Lowe did say he heard Manning would retire imminently from “a pretty-darn good source.”
Pretty darn good source??? Does that mean Peyton himself, because that would be a pretty good darn source.

Wow... just read that according to ESPN's business analyst Andrew Brandt, it would cost the Colts $50.5 Million next season if they had BOTH Manning and Luck on the roster.

http://rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/226744/manning-luck-combo-would-cost-colts-$505m

Something has got to give, either Manning retires, or he gets traded.

I think the one most satisfying part of this is that once he retires it effectively lessens the AFC threats to Baltimore by one team.
Uh, Andrew Luck...

Colts would have to pay his massive roster bonus in March in order to trade him. Unless the league agrees/allows it to be postponed, I say he gets released.

I stand by what I said. Luck has to perform well before I see him as a threat. Its a QB eat QB world.

Chris Mortenson is saying that the Dolphins are monitoring the health status of Peyton Manning above any other QB of which could be available....

Cardinals are now apparently interesting in Peyton Manning.

You know Peyton should just retire, watching the Papa Johns commercial with him as a Ref, I think Peyton could retire from Football and become the new Billy Mays and just be a spokesperson for a bunch of items.

Peyton Manning has finally spoken about things, so now we can finally get the real scoop from Peyton. Peyton says he has no plans to retire and said he has no idea what the Colts want to do at the Quarterback position. He also took a shot at the Colts:
“I’m not in a very good place for healing, let’s say that,’’ Manning said, regarding the team’s facility. “It’s not a real good environment down there right now, to say the least. Everybody’s walking around on eggshells. I don’t recognize our building right now. There’s such complete and total change.’’

“One thing [new G.M. Ryan Grigson] kind-of, sort-of told me, without really wanting to tell me, was that Irsay will be the guy I’m going to sit down and talk with,’’ Manning said. “That’s going to happen at some point, but we haven’t had that conversation yet because we really don’t need to have that conversation yet.’’
I like Flacco now but if the Ravens wanted to go Super Bowl or bust for real...

And who cares about Cam, because Peyton is his own OC.

Of course, it'd set us back for years if it didn't work out lol.

What do you think the price will be to trade for Peyton Manning and who do you think pulls the trigger?

I'm down to Arizona and Washington who will end up giving up almost their entire Draft over the next couple years giving the Colts a bunch of picks to help rebuild.

If we could get him for the right price, no question. But I don't see it happening.

Ideal situation for the Colts? They trade back with a team like Washingon, then pick up one of the following guys: Kalil, Blackmon, Martin, Reiff. One of them will be there. If Peyton is healthy he gives you 3-4 years of "we can win it all right now."
