I'm a bit surprised by this decision. The Niners are clearly the best team of the final three so this makes me wonder what Manning is after... it doesn't seem to be another Superbowl ring.

I don't see how anyone is surprised. The Broncos went 8-8, and beat the Steelers with Tebow. Imagine what they could do with a real QB? Their offensive line is good. They have a great run game. Their defense is solid. They have an up and coming great WR in Demayrius Thomas. They had everything except a QB. Makes perfect sense to me.

Difficult yes but they are upgrading from Tebow to Manning. The Colts were always a 12-14 win team with Peyton Manning and we saw that without him they were 2-14 so Manning is good for 10+ wins and that's why I see them contending for a Bye.

We'll see. New receivers, new O line, new system, new coaches, the biting cold and wind of Denver, all games outdoors, after 4 neck surgeries. We'll see.

As for the always a 12/14 win team...he's 9-5 in that regard. 5 seasons with less. He's a great QB don't get me wrong but his stats have also been aided by a few things. I'm not sure Denver was really a wise choice for him. Just my opinion.

Lol don't make me laugh. Any team better than the Broncos would have annihilated Pittsburgh. They were banged up so badly. If healthy, Denver wouldn't have stood a chance. You saw what a healthy Pittsburgh team did to the Patriots

That's not really my main point, but sure. Whatever floats your boat bud.

I still can't believe Manning went to Denver. I guess having no receivers didn't matter to him.

Broncos are far from a winning team.. The only they have going for them is their division..

They need another rb. A WR safety some lb depth a DT a starting TE

Okay, so I was wrong. Peyton isn't getting a 5 year 90 million dollar contract. The figure is 5 years, 95 million.

It will be okay for us if it is that, but it will still hurt us. 19M/year for a future HoF QB who is coming off of a very serious neck injury...I could see Linta leverage this. I am hoping he doesn't. I think Manning has set the bar for how high the QB salary could be, & people like Flynn has set the bar for how low. Flacco's contract should fall somewhere in-between.

This signing will have long-reaching effects throughout the NFL. Tennessee will stick with Hasselbeck & Locker. Cleveland will miss out on every veteran FA QB. Miami will settle with something less & would be lucky to get Alex Smith. If Smith does go to Miami the 49ers will be forced to start Colin K. Tebow finds himself without a job & on the block.

The real losers of this deal are the Cardinals (Kolb?), Browns (crickets...), Dolphins (no other options), 49ers (may lose Alex Smith after they flirted with Prom King Peyton) and of course the entire AFC West that must now face him. I expect every team (KC, San Diego, Raiders) to draft a pass rusher of some sort at some point. Those teams will need secondary players & pass rushers.

I think Alex would do himself a great disservice to not go back to San Fran if they want him. He was a complete and total bust until Jim got hold of him.

I agree, but if a team like Miami or someone else offers you 8M/yr for more than 3 years & San Francisco doesn't match & the deal has more guaranteed money I could see it happen.

He better hope that the Broncos O Line improves from last year or he will be picking himself off the ground A LOT.

IDK, his lines in Indy I think were never as good as people wanted to make out. For instance, if you look at where they ranked in terms of run blocking and pass protection, his lines were never that good - but they were always 1st in sacks given up, and I think that has more to do with Manning recognizing the pressure and beating it or throwing the ball away. I think he made a lot of flaws on those Colts lines disappear.

I hope Jim Caldwell teaches Joe well and instills him the great knowledge of recognizing the pressure at the presnap, and our Oline should be solved as up today......

Just something I find curious, a connection between Elway and both Mannings. Before you all ask, yes I'm incredibly bored and need to take a brake from studying synaptic transmission.

Elway was drafted in 1983 by the then-Baltimore Colts, didn't want to play for Robert Irsay, and was subsequently traded to the Broncos.

Eli Manning drafted in 2004 by the Chargers, didn't want to play for San Diego, and then was traded to the Giants.

Peyton was drafted by the Colts in 1998, played for them for 13 seasons, now gets cut by Jim Irsay and is going to the Broncos.

John Elway made his first Superbowl appearance in 1986, losing to the New York Giants. .

I wish we could run Peyton's hurry-up offense and Joe would learn to throw the ball away more like Peyton does when nobody's open. Of course, Joe really needs to be put into a position to throw receivers open if they're being covered too well.
