It's Official: Peyton Manning to Sign with Broncos (merged)

Manning apparently has asked to be traded or released.
This is the guy who reported Manning to be out for the season a week before ESPN did...

https://twitter.com/...930092307947520 - Now hes saying the same source that reported him out for the year is telling him he wants out of Indy.

I can see Peyton telling them the colts this out of respec for the franchise. Its only logical the colts start to rebuild soon and draft Luck. It will be sad since he's the best passer ever IMO, and I thought would retire there. Idk.

I wonder whats gonna happen, and where he'll be playing next year. Whoever gets him gets to playoffs most likely.

no way he gets kept and then traded in FA, he is due $28million on march 8, thats 5 days before the new season starts, ie can be traded, so... they have to cut him before that if they dont want to take the cap hit and pay him the money... if they take the hit you may as well keep him around, he is a professional, your paying him, he will work and work with andrew luck, he would have to... and for the colts, youve paid him, you may as well keep him.

So in my eyes, hes cut before march 8, or else hes a colt next year

Best situation I can think of off the top of my head is Washington...
Classic Dan Snyder move an Washington may be only tem that has the ability to move enough money to create space for Peyton

There are ways to get around a roster bonus if both sides are in agreement

would they just re do his contract and change that 28mil to like 1?

That's interesting. I don't know why Peyton would want to be traded when he could just retire and call it a career without risking further damage to his neck by playing a couple more years.

Peyton can agree to push the bonus back if they are wanting to work out a trade..
At least that's what I believe..

but then does the other team not have to pay him bonus? i duno who would pay that for a QB coming of triple neck surgery even if his name is peyton manning

Chiefs would be a much better fit than the redskins, tons of offensive weapons, a REAL running threat in jamal charles. They just need to draft a OL or two to shore up that unit. Plus they have tons of cap room

I'm not saying better team as much as better overall fit financially/team business history

Chiefs have Matt cassel and now Orton.. They don't need Peyton
Washington isn't as bad as you think

Chiefs are a team I'm scared may try n steal Grubbs though even though tackle is more of a problem for them

He got a lot of the free agent signings right last year before anyone else. The only thing I can remember him getting wrong was Nnamdi to the jets but no one thought he would go to eagles

Just google his name and have some fun...he just makes stuff up half the time! I'm not saying he doesn't get some things right, but its just a law of numbers to get a few right here and there :)

I dont know, I kinda want to him to end his final season(s) in Indy just for how much he brought to that franchise, and since he made his HOF career there

Ok now things are getting more interesting. Apparently Peyton Manning is going to retire sometime this off-season, at least according to this person's sources. Take it for what it is worth, coming from Rob Lowe but according to him Peyton is going to retire. He is a Colts fan and is a personal friend of Colts Owner Jim Irsay. He even tweeted to Rich Eisen to see what Eisen knows about Manning maybe retiring.
Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to [s]#[/s]NFL. [s]@[/s]richeisen My people are saying Manning will retire today. What do you hear? [s]#[/s]NFL

[s]#[/s]Colts fans, let's hope my info is wrong. Don't like being wrong, but this time... I'm hoping [s]#[/s]NFL [s]#[/s]Manning
What are the chances Peyton retires and becomes the new Head Coach?
