Jason Lacanfora Reports Joe Flacco Seeking A Deal In The Range Of $15Mill A Yr

Basically, if Flacco told us he wants $15M per year or else he would not renegotiate his contract with us and sign with another team next year instead, I would pay him his $15M per year without hesitation.
15 million is a lot to pay to a guy who isn't even a strength on your team.

That is true.

Fortunately, Flacco is one of our greatest assets.

I don't know that I've ever heard our quarterback position described as a strength. Rice, yes. Our defense, yes. Our QB? Nope.

You'd be crazy to take Newton, Stafford, or Romo over Flacco. Stop listening to whatever Jamie Dukes tells you.

Described by who?

All I can say is that our FO agrees with my assessment, and in the end, that's all that matters. We may or may not love the fact that our organization believes that Joe is a driving force on this team, but it won't change anything.

And I will accept our staff's opinion over the idiots on espn and NFL network any day of the week.

I'd take Newton over Tom Brady at this point, just for the record. (at their respective ages, of course.)

Stafford and Romo are better than Flacco, though. They just are.

They also have faith in Cam Cameron and Billy Cundiff.

That's exactly what the problem is. Who really gives a damn what the perception of Flacco is? We know the deal.

I don't know how you can say that. I love our defense. I love everything about our team. Ray Lewis is my favorite player period. But to say Flacco is not a key ingredient is just being blind, honestly. Flacco is a big part for our success reaching the playoffs for 4 years.

I'm not saying Flacco isn't an ingredient. He's an average-to-above-average quarterback. But no one ever talks about him as the strength of our offense. That's Rice.

In mine, maybe those teams would start winning more consistently if they had Flacco.
Track record? Well hang on a minute. It's a part of our history that we went with Grbac over Dilfer, traded a first-rounder for Boller, and have never had a strong passing offense since the 90's. We've had a great track record on defense, but we don't have any track record whatsoever of great quarterback play (meaning a passing attack).

That's because the media is moronic.

I can point to many games that Flacco was the primary reason for us winning the game.

What did Kolb and Cassel get? And what are the Falcons trying to pay Ryan?

kolb = 12.7m(bonus included) -overpaid

cassel = 10.5m (bonus included) -overpaid

In my opinion, and I guarantee in the opinion of all 32 GM's in the league - including ours.

Stafford has barely played - but they did have a very good year with him at quarterback. And outside of Johnson, they don't have a ton of talent on that side of the ball.

He's been our quarterback for 4 seasons, and you want to pay him 15 million! You shouldn't have to cherry-pick instances of him winning games for us!

You claim that Flacco isn't even an asset to this team. I'm disproving it by showing you how he has won games for us, so if you want to call it cherry picking, be my guest.

Like I said, it doesn't matter. Flacco is going to get paid, whether you like it or not.

Lol, wow.. Cam Newton will be an amazing QB in this league with his skill set. Being able to throw for TDs and run for them is something that people drool over. Stafford just threw for over 5,000 yards. If both of them are healthy, I'm taking both over Flacco any day of the week. Not a knock on Flacco, I like him and everything, but Newton's potential and Stafford's ability to play while healthy is fun to watch

Add to the fact that Newton threw for over 4,000 yards in his rookie season and Flacco has never been able to throw for that many yards in four years

No - what I said is that he's never been described as a 'strength'. We're arguing semantics here. There are plenty of guys on our team who are assets, but don't get to set their own markets. Jarret Johnson is an asset too.

Rogers, Breese, Brady, Eli, Ben - I agree they are better.

Peyton is done, no longer in the equation unless he proves he can still throw....but I doubt it.

But we disagree on the rest being better...I think Joe is right in the mix with the others. I think Stafford and Newton are great QB's and like Joe, have HUGE upside growth ahead of them. Rivers and Romo...just don't see it....they lose way too many games that they should win. If they played in Baltimore and took some of those losses, our ungrateful fan base would be screaming for their heads!

Joe is gonna get a well deserved deal at around 12-14M / year and we will win a SB or two with him....

I stand corrected, you said 'strength', not 'asset'.
Either way, I think that is easily disproven.

If Romo and Rivers played in Baltimore, we would have won a Super Bowl already. Imagine if Flacco played in Dallas! He would have been cut by now.

Let's do this:

If he isn't a strength of our team, show me how many games we have won in spite of Flacco.

I'll get you started -- the Jets game.
