15 mil is realistic, and it will take close to that to get this thing signed. They settle for around 14 mil/yr in my opinion.
Yeah I think its pretty fair and realistic. all the "experts" said it would likely be between 12-15m - Soo 13-14m seems likely.

15 a year is too high for Flacco. Ozzie won't give him that, I'd be surprised if its more than 12. If Im Ozzie I'm shooting for the 9-11 range.

Joe deserves something around the 13-14 range. I wonder who will get their deal first, Rice or Joe?
I think Joe will get the deal first. Ravens wanna know what his cap number will be, they know they can just franchise ray rice and they will know that number. Their priority really seems to be Flacco and maybe Grubbs .. So that way they will know how much money they have available for FA.

Yes, we can just Franchise Rice but also Joe is still under a contract for another year so there is no rush on getting a long term contract worked out with Joe. Especially when I'd rather Franchise Rice and work on a long term deal with Rice and Grubbs before we get to Joe. Also Webb is a restricted Free agent so I also would like to sign him under a long term contract rather risk losing him to some team willing to give up their first for him. Joe can wait.

I hope Tyrod is taking advantage of his practice time.... If these demands are serious they better be incentive based deals with the base between 8-10. That wouldnt be that bad. This is what happens when you let bad teams raise the price of unproven qbs, Kolb and whichever other bum got money such short resumes.

The Ravens and Joe Linta, the agent for Joe Flacco, have agreed to continue meeting after what was described as a very productive meeting today.

Joe Linta; 'I think it was very productive. It's clear Joe is an important part of the Ravens team.'

Joe Linta told me regarding Joe Flacco: 'We’ll keep working away. I’m optimistic that we can work something out soon.'

Personally, I am all for paying Flacco 15M if it means an incentive-based deal. There is no way Flacco gets a straight 15M as a base. That is absurd. You pay him an incentive for each playoff win & extra for a Super Bowl win. I could see a base of 12M with incentives to escalate it since their platform is that Flacco is a winning QB. If he is a winning QB those incentives are not hard to reach.

It's good to hear the meeting was productive. Very good sign.

As for who is signed first, it would be Flacco, Webb, Grubbs and then Rice. Flacco is most important because you need a QB to win games. His salary will help shape the rest of our future cap for years to come. We cannot pay Rice before Flacco for this reason.

Webb will, however, most likely get tendered and play out his tender. I believe he will be priority #1 next year. I don't see an extension forthcoming unless it is a very good deal for the Ravens. I am sure the Ravens & his agent will talk about it but I doubt it goes anywhere.

Once we sign Flacco, we can focus on Grubbs & Rice. Between the two I am uncertain who gets signed first, but if I had to wager it would be Rice.

Isn't that about what Kevin Colb makes? It's hard to seriously say flacco deserves less.

It's not our fault some stupid team overpaid that bum. Sorry, but they did. There seriously needs to be a stupid penalty that teams are charged for making bone-headed decisions that affect the entire league in re-signing good, quality players but who would demand a higher premium because of some stupid team setting the market higher than it needs to be.

I mean, seriously? Haynesworth's contract? Kolb's? Adrian Peterson's? Such bone-headed moves really irritate me.

I am with you! I think Flacco has a bright future and will serve the Ravens well.

It's under the franchise tag. Better hurry up and sign him before Matt Flynn signs something similar.

10-11 Base
14-15 Max
30+ Guaranteed
7 years

Lock him up!

Don't forget that contracts will be inflated soon because of the increasing salary cap. That said, I would be surprised if he gets 15 a year.

Kevin Kolb: 6 Year $65 Million

Ryan Fitzpatrick: 7 Year $62.195 Million

Matt Ryan's Rookie Contract: 6 Year $66 Million with $34.75 Million Guaranteed

I say a good middle ground would be somewhere around what Fitzpatrick and Kolb got and even something close to Matt Ryan's rookie contract wouldn't be too bad.

7-8 Year $72 Million with $15-$25 Million Guaranteed would be a good contract for Flacco.

$9M - $10M a year with only a quarter of it guaranteed is insulting to Flacco!

I'd be pumped if he accepted that though haha

I'm assuming the $15 Million a year his agent wants is including bonuses and incentives, otherwise the guy was high when making that demand.

$15-$25 million guaranteed is a little insulting too, he'll get a minimum of at $30 million guaranteed from what I hear.

I'm glad rookies don't get that kind of money any more. Those contracts were just stupid and really hurt their franchises if the player turned out to be a bust.

I agree. I'm supporting Joe and I hope he gets the contract that he deserves

why didn't we get this done two years ago and save some money. We all saw the potential and we agreed he was at the very least starting material. 15 is way to high of a number for any NFL player. It is still a team sport. If we overpay our QB his protection is going to suffer thus making it look like we made a bad investment. Something to think about Joe. If you get that big money your protection will suffer.
