Domonique Foxworth To Retire...?

28 posts in this topic

Earlier today Ozzie Newsome had hi scombine press conference and a question came up and ozzie talked about the cap and he said 1 person said they were going to retire...I think he meant Ricky Williams. But then someone asked was that 1 person Domonique Foxworth? Ozzie said he didnt know but is going to meet with Foxworth next Thursday to talk. So its either release, or retirement.

What do you guys think?

I don't care as long as he isn't on this team next year. It doesn't make a difference towards our salary cap either way. I think he should retire. He should have retired a year ago.

From what I have read from Aaron Wilson his knee is shot and can't cut.
was just about to post this, he hasnt healed, at al, he may as well just retire, save the whole headache of getting cut and then looking for a new job while healing. he could maybe get into some form of law, or something along those lines after the good job (allegedly) he dont with the CBA neogiations

damn, poor Fox. Hope he can heal up and catch on somewhere. He seems like a pretty smart guy but hope he saved some money up. This should be a lesson to most of these numbskulls coming into the league, that their time is very limited and even more precious. Fly straight and save your damn money because it could all be over tomorrow...

I say he should retire. If his leg is pretty much shot, there is no way he would be able to catch on anywhere else in the NFL due to the injury.

If he has to retire then all the best to the guy in his future. We have to thank him for his efforts so that this season just past actually occurred at all.

Foxworth probably had the worst luck of any raven we've ever had. He actually had a career year in 2009, but it didn't matter because our defense was so average.

Our defense in 2009 was top 3 in yards allowed and points/ touchdowns allowed. 8th in pass D.
I think 2010 was more 'average' than 2009. Still top 3 in points allowed but 10th in yards. 21st in pass D.
Both years were terrible for sacks.

My opinion on Foxworth:

Classy guy. Very intelligent.

Not the top notch CB though that some try to claim he was in 2009. Yeah he was the best CB on the Ravens late 2009 but you know, look at who else we had. It wasn't hard to be #1 here then.

I wish him the best whether he is cut or retires. He's smart, got his degree and I'm sure he'll find success after football.

Shoot I think he could work for this orginization one day after his display of intelligence and leadership elping to guide our way to anew CBA, however even with a healthy knee he wasnt that great of a corner. I thought that contract we gave him was over the top.

do you know what we should do? he should retire, and give back some of his signing bonus so we dont eat dead cap. then biscotti should hire him as some back room guy, and pay him back his signing bonus as the salary for the new job. Doesnt cost biscotti a penny, becuase the money he pays, fox has just given him back, only diff is, we have more cap room

Muhhahahaha

I don't care as long as Domineque Foxworth is off the Baltimore Ravens. he has class, but just sucks when playing in the NFL. Injuries, penalties, and poor coverage skills, etc. Don't know about the retiring thing. I'll wait untill it's confirmed.

All this from a non-contact ACL in TC. Dang. Protect your joints, everyone!

You think with all this technology, they could come up with a pad, protection that is better than a knee pad. Guess they need to stop worry about I pads and computers, lol

Well there isn't much they can do to stop an acl injury, and must joint injuries period. That's all about just hitting your knee funny, whereas pads just tend to help against bruises. If you land on your knee funny, you could tear your acl padding or not.

True. Outside of wearing knee braces/supports there's not much you can do about an ACL. Your foot gets caught on the turf, your leg/knee bends the wrong way and boom.

If he retires we have to eat his a portion of cap number from his signing bonus. If Foxworth is smart he would retire, then he keeps a portion of the full contract he signed. Then all of Baltimore will hate him even more. If Ozzie is smart he releases him ASAP.

At least I think thats how it works?

It's really messed up on both ends of this one. We Ravens fans never got to see the best of him and his career seems to be ending before it really started. I thought he had a good stretch before his injury but it was just a stretch, he never hit a grove like Webb seems to have hit. So we have to release him if he doesn't retire. I think our future is basically the three guys we used last year at corner and I like Gorrer as a dime too. Foxworth has his whole life ahead of him so it's sad but he'll be alright.

Guy never did much (anything?) for us, but its too bad that he got hurt and could never recover. I'm sure there is a spot for him in the NFLPA.
