I would like to think that every Right Tackle on this team was flawless because your protecting the viewing side of the QB and Multitasking on the Running game...

Someone needs to step up on our O-line. Since Harewood is still on the roster and healthy, lets see what he can do.

Last chance for the big guy to step up!

Those IR trips seem sort of fishy. They're probably trying to keep him without giving up a roster spot.
That would be welcome news. I'd hate to think it was because he was just made of glass and will end up like Demetrius Williams, very talented but never able to play. It makes sense, though, if they're really high on Harewood and think he could be like a Jason Peters or Demetrius Bell.

The real question is WAS he even injured in the first place? I just find these two injuries very suspicious, especially when Harewood is a raw prospect who is coming from a small college. These injuries both occurred before the season even started. They occurred right around the time they were making roster cuts. It's just very weird, as others have said.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Ravens FO has been training him all this time under the guise of these injuries to avoid him from going to other teams. The Cowboys & Bears liked him a lot coming out of college and were going to draft him. They worked him out at their facilities before the draft.

What's even more suspicious is this is the last year of his rookie deal. He will be an RFA in 2013.

I have serious doubts about Harewood's "injury". Personally I think they IR'ed him two years running because he was too raw to contribute but they have high hopes about his potential. Much like they did with McAdoo this year.

oh man, smallowing still kills me! The 'm' and 'w' are like 6 inches apart on the keyboard!
Thank you for acknowledging this. I tried to point out how much easier it is to make the reat and rest mistake but there is no room for smallow. The a and s are right next to each other. On topic I feel your knees might be a little important on tackles and once those goes who knows how the players performance might drop, especially when they are still learning.

I suppose if you believe he was really injured for two years, then this could be. Avery big concern.

I happen to not believe he has been injured for two years.

If he wasn't then he could be very valuable. I remember thinking this last year til another article came out about the knee though maybe it was just to let him learn. I think the Giants did this with Cruz last year. I remember reading about him and his potential hoping he could step in when Gaither went down. The thing is, even if healthy who do you think gives us a better chance, Reid or him?

Harewood is a long shot way behind Reid on the depth chart. Still, if McKinnie balloons up again to 400 lbs., then there is a possibility that we will need another lineman.

I think Harewood has the intangibles to be a LT, but he lacks the knowledge to be one. As for Reid, he has the size but not the feet for it, from what I remember.

I really don't care who steps up as LT, I just want someone to step up. I'm sick of a position that was once our strength is now our greatest weakness. How many tackles have we drafted since JO left or was at the end of his career? Off the top of my head I know Gaither, Oher, Reid, Harewood. I seem to remember Cousins & Chester, though I am sure Chester was meant for G more than T. Cousins was meant for RT if I remember correctly. My memory is fuzzy on those guys to be honest.

This very thing is what scares me when Lewis & Reed retire. We need replacements for them. I don't want to see another JO position where we lose a HOF to be replaced by scrubbs. I don't think that happens, but still it is concerning.

What I remember from his first camp was that HAREWOOD could be better suited to play guard. So, maybe he's an in house candidate for LG.

I love Jah Reid as our long term RT but some think Reid could excel best as a guard.

Good point and I remember that as well. I do recall people saying he would make a very good guard. I could see that.

As for Reid, I think he is better suited as a tackle. I would like to see him be a tackle. I have this feeling that the team moves on from Oher and puts him at RT after having him learn under Oher.

Yea, I don't see Oher being resigned unless its a very cap friendly deal. People say they think Reid could make the transition to guard, but I feel Oher would be better suited for the switch and keep Reid at tackle. Seems like he has a better frame for tackle and I think with Oher being closer to center, easier to hear the snap, most likely wouldn't be flagging as much and seems like he could maul in the interior better than dealing with the pash rushers.

Harewood hasnt been able to stay healthy...I think the first expectation for him should be to finish camp without an injury and move forward from that point. I, personally think he's a guard/RT possibly.

It feels good to correct people's mistakes, I suppose.

Anyway, I don't believe Harewood was ever injured and if he was I don't think it is that serious. We wouldn't keep some guy around on IR 2 years running if he was a bum unless he had a huge cap hit like Foxy. Harewood would have been gone long ago if this injury was serious, if he was even injured at all.

Watch him come & be a beast lol. He replaces Grubbs in FA and people are shocked & wonder why we ever worried about losing Grubbs.

Then again, that could be wishful thinking haha.

Skill set wise, Harewood would be a good guard. He's a solid run blocker with bad feet in pass pro. However, at 6'6, he's a little on the highside for guards. Not many guards are above 6'5. When you look at his height and at his bad knees you have to wonder if he can get the leverage needed to play on the inside.

Harewood was a long shot pick and has a lot to prove before I'll get excited about him making the team.

That's what I was thinking... We'd have one of if not the tallest guard in the league. I worry about that & possible bad knees

If the skillset isnt there and hes just a very athletic type that needs to learn. Wouldnt it be possible to teach him whatever it is we think we need. Kinda teach him a couple positions to be a back up and when/if he steps up could earn a starting role if he progresses.
