Couple things about FA in general:

Cap number this year is around 123 million. We are about 10 mil under the cap which isnt much right now. We will make a few cuts to free up space. Foxworth, Carr, and unfortunately JJ is gonna be out the door, a team will offer him better money than we can pay him.

I see us keeping zibby, naka will be gone and we will draft a safety.

We need to resign Cary Williams and draft a CB in the 4th/5th round.

McClain will be re-signed

Redding re-signed (hes earned his spot on this team and he will prob take an affordable deal to stay)

Grubbs is out the door (if burk retires Gurode will man the center position and we will draft a guard, if burk returns Andre can play guard), we cant re-sign him and worry about signing Joe long term, and franchising Rice (good thing tho, the tag on a RB is less than 8 Mil... good chance we do that 2 years in a row). Joe will be signed and will make around 12m/year.

Good thing about our cap situation and what we are dealing with is... TV money will boost salary cap starting next year, and we dont have to front load Joe's contract, we can pay him majority of his money year 2-4.

On a side note 1. Lets re-sign Leron McClain as a backup to rice, and can play FB if Vonte goes down. OR... Micheal Bush would also be a good fit for cheap.

Side note #2. Watch out for us stealing Wallace from PIT. They can either franchise him (9/10 mil for WR), OR place a high tag on him which teams that draft late will have no prob giving up a number 1 and offering more money than PIT can. They are way over the cap and dont have much room to maneuver. Either way it will be hard for them to keep him. We could give up our number one and pay him 6mil/year and hes ours. If that happens, bye evans.

where are you gettin 10 from, the title clearly says 4.6mil under. we need to cut evans, and fox to get to 10 under

Ricky hasnt actually filed his retirement papers yet, hes still on our books, that shows me he might be having doubts. Wouldnt you just fille them immediatly if you knew 100% you were done and moving on?
Haha really? Sigh, when is Ricky Williams sure about anything?

i duno, bet he was high when he announced. did you see it was a text from bill parcells made him retire? if that makes you retire, you really arent ready for retiring, it has to be your own decision surely. he looked in great fitness and health, he could have went another year

Sorry I didnt clarify. Technically we can borrow 3 mil from future caps which would put us right under 8 mil. Your right tho.

Yeah, Bill Parcells continuing his legacy as an effective annoyance. It's not like Ricky got a heavy workload this season, and he got compensated pretty well. The chances of his reversing his decision are probably pretty good.

I agree, Ricky was in great shape this past year, and was running with purpose. Loved having him

would you want him to or would you rather have the free 1.5 mil cap space and give anthony allen a go?

Torn on that. I'd like to see what the young guys can do (Allen/Berry/maybe Lawrence) but I like the stability of a vet like Ricky. I'll be fine with either, when it comes down to it.

I'd sacrifice Grubbs to sign the Lions DE Cliff Avril.
Or keep Grubbs or use the money on someone else and let McPhee take over the DE spot

No one has mentioned our free agent safeties or McClain. Both of our safeties are free agents after next year and our back ups are free agents now... and I would prefer to keep McClain after reading what Mayock said about Burfict.

I'm with you on that. I feel good about Mcclain. I would however like to see what Austin can do with new safety in the fold. Our Db's had a spectacular season under him.

All I gotta say is good-bye Foxworth & Evans. That is way too much money to pay those two players.

Honestly, if we release Evans we could probably re-sign the guy without a problem. I don't see too many teams picking him up after that drop and his season. We could probably even get him for the veteran minimum.

After seeing that, Foxworth is definitely gone. Evans is gone unless he takes a pay cut. Carr is a toss-up. I could see him staying for depth, but if we need the money, he's gone as well.

I'd take Wallace over anyone right now. Can you imagine trying to defend Boldin, Wallace, Smith, and Pitta/Dickson? Rice would not be stopped at the line because everyone would be dropping back on us.

It's not, the info on that site on his is totally inaccurate.

Again, that site, while having some accurate info, is largely off on a lot of what is posted there.

They were allowed to borrow $3M last year, but this year, the number is only $1.5M.

Besides, the Ravens are conservative. I doubt we borrow from future cap space

Actually, they borrowed the $3M last year and I would expect them to borrow the $1.5M this year. It's not debted from their caps til 2014 and after, so they have plenty of time to plan for "repaying" it. Plus, since they can carry over unused cap space from year to year, if they don't end up spending it now, they can just move it forward each year, and basically pay it off with the excess cap space being carried forward.
