I want to see how Brown responds when he's placed to play #1 spot cuz Mike was double teamed most of the time although route running ability Brown is abit better than Mike but speed wise, Mike is a notch better than him. I just don't like the attitude of Mike though: pretty cocky.

PS: best to compare the two is put Webb on both and see which one has more yardage, but Webb might ruin the competition when he shuts them both down with 0 yardage..lol
When wallace got Williams and Webb was on Brown it was a pretty pathetic performance by Webb. Brown owned Webb to a degree that second game. Wallace is all speed and nothing else. Brown was probably the only WR who had a really good game against Webb.
-route running is weak
-run blocking, well the guy is a wuss
-YAC is only existent in open field, cant break tackles to save his life
-hands are sub-par
He needs a new attiude as well

Mike Wallace is unwilling to sign his one year tender. Adam Schefter reports that Wallace plans on sitting out all off-season workouts until a long term agreement is reached.

http://rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/231352/mike-wallace-unwilling-to-sign-1-year-tender

Teams have until April 20th to make an offer for Wallace and basically use their first round pick on Mike Wallace and give it to Pittsburgh. Some team has to be willing to give Wallace a long term deal knowing the Steelers cap situation.

I really hope no one goes after him, and he forces the Steelers to pay him a good salary for years. It'll force more Steeler vets to be cut down the line.

If I was the Steelers, I would draft a good WR in this draft and be done with him.

Funny. Can't really say too much, though, because we have a guy [reportedly] willing to do the same thing... but for $5M more.

I don't think Wallace coming to Baltimore makes good financial sense; too expensive and he's got a 1st round tender hanging on him. In addition, it looks like the stillers will have their hands full next year keeping Antonio Brown (who I think is a better all around receiver); I was wondering why the Bengals wouldn't jump all over this. They've definitely got the money to spend and I think they have an extra 1st round draft pick courtesy of the Raiders and the recently retired/unretired Carson Palmer. Dalton, AJ and Wallace would seem to be a pretty good deal for Cincy.

Guess we'll see if this was true, deadline to go after RFAs is today at 4PM. Wonder if any team will make a late push to sign Wallace.

The value of the WR position has skyrocketed, especially when it has a higher bust potential than QB. Of course there is going to be a lot of interest in him.

I'm waiting for the Broncos to swoop in last minute. There won't be anyone better at #25 and they're apparently going after Samuel.

They're in win-now mode with Manning and giving him Wallace makes that offense dangerous.

IIRC, Denver FO guaranteed Manning theyd get him Mike Wallace
Yeah but maybe that was a rumor but who knows. Denver may have guaranteed Wallace but maybe they saw the future and know he will be a Free Agent next year.

Oh went back and found this in the Free Agency thread...

Report: Mike Wallace will not sign his tender 'until he has to.'

Which according to the new CBA, Mike Wallace doesn't have to sign his tender until June 15th, which he has to sign his tender before then and if he doesn't the Steelers can drop his tender down from $2.7 Million to $577,000 for the year.

It seems Mike Wallace and the Pittsburgh Steelers are gaining a little momentum in talks as they continue to chip away at getting closer to a long term deal.
CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora confirms the Steelers "continue to make headway" in long-term contract talks with restricted free agent Mike Wallace.
Dang, another perk of the tenders over the tag is that, besides being cheaper, they can work on a deal without a time limit. Lame.

Yep, but the perk is offset by the risk that another team will swoop in and sign the player.

Of course, this year NO TEAM signed another team's restricted free agents. Sounds like collusion to me...

Yes but that deadline has passed a long time ago. So he is now with the Steelers for at least this year unless they work out a new long term contract.

Lol a neg?

Check out the linked article - there were 42 restricted free agents this year, and not a single player received a single offer from any other team than their original one. Also, the NFLPA is suing the owners for collusion regarding restricted free agents...

Yep, Wallace has zero leverage - the only thing he can do is hold out until week 10, to try to force the Steelers' hand on a contract. Beyond that, he'd lose the 2012 season as his 4th season, and he could (theoretically) be restricted again next year. Vincent Jackson did it to San Diego last year; I'm sure that's why they let him go, from the sour taste of getting squeezed by VJ. I doubt Wallace goes that route...

Had to be done.

Why is it that much of a surprise that no team went after the RFAs? If a team lets one of its players go into FA as a UFAs, it's probably because they don't value him enough to lock him before that.

I wouldn't much stock into the NFLPA's legal proceedings.
I'd agree with you on the lawsuit possibilities.

But take Wallace - if the Steelers had franchised him, they'd have had to offer $9 million, the average of the top 5 WRs. As a RFA, they only had to offer $2.7 Mil. RFA contracts are the last year of a rookie contract, where the team values the player enough to want to keep him but want to keep him at the lower rate. Outside of the top half of the 1st round, teams get a bargain with rookie contracts; Ray Rice made $770,000 last year. However, now it jumped to $8 Million. Teams want to retain the players for their 4th NFL season at the lower rate... hence, the RFA. If they open negotiations before the last year of the rookie contract, the player's salary skyrockets - like Rice's - one year before the team must offer it. It's not an indication that a team doesn't value a player by permitting him to go RFA - they just want the player for less money.

The reason I think it's collusion is obvious - If Rice was an RFA, he could be signed for the RFA amount for RBs - around $2.5 Million - by any other team, and the Ravens could match... or get (up to) 2 first rounders.

There was speculation that the Patriots, before the draft, were seriously considering signing Wallace. The logic was that he's much better than any reciever they could have gotten at pick #31, so they'd really be only giving up one (probably late) first round pick, in a manner of thinking. If you were the Green Bay Packers, wouldn't you trade for Ray Rice, for two #30 first round picks?

Yet NO NFL player was deemed worthy of being signed by other teams, yet every RFA has been signed (except for Wallace) by their original team. Fishy.

For example (hypothetically), let's examine the #30 and #31 players drafted this year - RB Doug Martin (TB) and WR A.J. Jenkins (SF) - if it cost a team two (late round) 1st rounders, wouldn't you trade Martin and Jenkins for Ray Rice? for Mike Wallace?

I just think something is fishy - everyone agreed NOT to sign other teams' RFAs, IMO...

Good points on RFAs. I stand corrected. But I still don't think there's collusion.

I think it comes down to the allure of the first round pick. Organizations that are picking in the late 20s, #30, #31 and #32 usually draft well and manoeuvre free agency rather well. I'd say those teams would rather hold onto a first round pick and draft a potentially even better player.

Ya, NO way he gets Fitz money - $12 Mil per year. No chance.

I could see him getting a deal similar to Rice's, maybe 8 mil per year for 5 years. Signing him for $2.7 mil is a deal, though - although the Steelers are going to be in the exact same boat next year with Antonio Brown - he'll be a RFA then. Brown is a more complete receiver, but the Steelers could have problems paying both Brown and Wallace each $8 million per year. I'd rather have Brown, personally.
