Do You Think The Signing Of Caldwell.....

18 posts in this topic

Opens the door for reggie wayne to come here I mean the colts are in disarraying and changing and wayne has said he wants a place where he knows someone and feels wanted and has stability and the Ravens are one of those teams.

If there is a thread open similar to this I am sorry I have not been on here in like a month so just move it or lock it if needed.

I doubt it. I don't think we're looking for aging receivers.

But as Ozzy puts it, right player right price... anything can happen.

I hope not. Wouldn't fit the system. We need another fast, outside threat - in the mold of Torrey Smith. Lee Evans could be that, if he gets healthy.

It'd be interesting, but after Evans is released, who else do we get rid of to facilitate his contract demands? The Ravens will have a good amount of money to play with this offseason (projected to be around $19 million under cap), but most, if not all of that will probably be going to Flacco and Rice.

Of the Indy WR's that are about to hit FA, i'd be more interested in a Pierre Garcon than Reggie Wayne. But he'd cost about as much.

I don't think Caldwell being here would make any difference on if Wayne would like to play here or not. Ed Reed was his College roommate and one of his closest friends so I think that would be a bigger reason for him wanting to play here. But like others have said, I don't see it happening nor do I think we need him at this stage of his career!

Actually I came here to say that I would prefer Pierre Garcon instead of Reggie Wayne, but you beat me to the post! :) I think he is a player on the verge of breaking out. He isn't as high profiled as Bowe, VJ and Colston - so I guess he is going to be a bit cheaper.
The only problem I see is that Jim Irsay told the media that Mathis and Garcon were two players they planned on resigning.

Listening to the Fan the other night and they were talking about how every coach we bring in is a coach that has been involved in a harbaugh team whether it is Cam, Wink, or this new Rutgers guy.

All of them except Caldwell, who Ozzie actually interviewed for the HC job back in 2008. They basically went on to speculate that Ozzie probably brought in Caldwell to light a fire under Cam and Joe.

Cam was supposed to be under fire last season. That clearly didn't work.

No to Garcon. After a season plagued with drops, we'd only be adding fuel to the fire by adding a guy that has a history of dropping easy passes.

God I hope so....

If this is true that means Ozzie is trying to gain some control in the Harbaugh clan of coaches. And hell, if Cam goes the direction we all know he will next season we have a more than able offensive mind to lead the offense in the event of his early departure.

The guy never impressed me when he was with the Colts to be honest but hey... we hired a guy who was 1-15 as a head coach to be our offensive coordinator. Why not hire a guy who went 2-14 as your QB coach?

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result

why not considering he went 26-22 in three seasons. if you only count the first 2 seasons he was 24-8, but thats nothing special right?

but on another note, wayne is too old but if we sign him for a low price it might not be a bad idea considering he can pull of off some clutch catches. he caught passes from painter for god-sakes!

No, I don't see why we would go after an older veteran receiver when drafting younger receivers the past 2 seasons (Dickson, Pitta, Torrey, hopefully Tandon and LaQuan) has paid off. I think the front office goes receiver in the draft again - this time I really think they'll go after a bigger receiver, a red-zone type threat, and possibly a developmental guy that's a good kick returner in a later round (sadly I think David Reed's time in Baltimore may be over soon).

I don't see why we wouldn't at least offer him a deal. Last year he had 960 yards with one of Orlovsky, Painter or Collins throwing him the ball. He's ideal to sign for a 1 or 2 year deal while our young receivers (Doss, Laquan and whoever we pick in the draft this year) develop behind Q, Wayne and Torrey.
Plus although he's not a big deep threat like a V-Jax, he provides a compliment to both Q and Torrey.
