Adding Marshawn Lynch

wouldn't be a great addition if we add Marshawn lynch in free agency, a proving veteran and very physical back that we need.

Yeah that would be great but I can't see it happening. You don't want to invest a lot of money into a backup/change of pace RB. That's why they let Willis McGahee go. It's probably either going to be Anthony Allen or Damien Berry if they prove themselves in training camp or a cheap free agent signing after the juicy free agent RB's get deals.

Maybe they will bring back Le'Ron McClain for a 1 or 2 year deal. He always wanted more touches and since we have Vonta Leach as our FB, McClain won't have to worry about those responsibilities barring injury to Leach.. Le'Ron McClain is a big body who can get those tough yards...and then some.

I wouldn't oppose McClain if he worked on his hands. But I'd rather see what Anthony Allen can do. I think highly of him.

Jacking my thread title style. Marshawn wouldn't be bad if I didn't feel he would be expensive... Mighty mouse going beast mode

Not going to happen, we need to sign our own guys. We don't need a thread for every potential free agent who has ever lived.

Beast mode in Baltimore, love it

But yeah, not going to happen

If we're going to spend on Lynch sure we could have just kept McGahee

Lynch isn't coming here for a cheap backup deal

Yeah, he's not leaving Seattle anyway. They aren't going to let him walk after he's been such a beast for them.

lmao... he is the seattle seahawks offense, if they dont get a QB and lost him, they could very well be picking top 5 next year. he will more than likely get franchised, and if he didnt, hed be looking a startes salary elsewhere, he wont back up anyone

its unlikely we'll sign him as he is for seattle what leach is for us (really damn important!!!). an option, if we were signing, would be peyton hillis. he's a big, strong back that can convert on those 3rd and 3 situations. plus he can also play as an fb too.

LOL..... We've already got to re-sign Rice to a huge deal as our starter, how are we going to pay starter money to Lynch as well?!?

Not to mention - why would Lynch want to come here, instead of somewhere else where he'd be the starter?

Wouldn't it be cool if we had Aaron Rodgers to come off the bench to play in the 2nd half of games?

Oh, I thought the point of the game was to say something outrageous about signing another team's starting player and having him play second fiddle to one of our starters?

Marshawn isn't a back up.

He'd probably ask for a lot and he's a RB1. Not sure he'd want to be a #2 when he's got a pretty nice gig up in Seattle or could start elsewhere. We should just focus on Anthony Allen at this point. We have other positions we need to spend our money on.

I still don't understand why McClain thought he was a halfback, and why so many fans were lobbying for him to be the back up last offseason..... Here's how I feel McClain doesn't even average 4.0 ypc, even his best season in 08 running behind Lorenzo Neal he averaged under 4ypc. Plenty of times he failed to get the tough 1 r 2 yd gain for first down....
He chose to leave Baltimore to get more carries and got even less playing time lol.... I feel like the McClain train is already gone we have a real FB now.

More realistic options for a free agent backup RB could be:

Ronnie brown
Mike Tolbert
Jason Snelling
Earnest graham
Cadillac Williams
Chester Taylor

Lynch is not a back up he is a premier running back. The only way the Ravens have Lynch on their team is if they trade Rice for Skittles...

McClain... Interesting thought. I really just want to see what Allen and Berry can do, but McClain would be a good power runner. We could run some cool jumbo packages with him and Leach in the backfield, both blocking for Rice, or even McClain running behind Leach. If he could get down to about 240, I wouldn't be opposed to it. We could use him like a H-back, like how the 49ers use Bruce Miller. I wouldn't mind either way. Of course, he better come cheap, if he comes at all. And I mean CHEAP.

Actually, I would probably want McClain if the price was low enough. That's not to diss Allen, I'd love to see what he can do also, but bringing McClain back cheap would make sense.

The best plan is going with Allen and Berry. We have a full offseason now. If these guy are not looking great during camps, then talk Ricky into returning.

I'd rather spend money on a center like Jason Brown, if cut, or the centers from the Texans or the Packs.

Yeah i wouldn't mind bringing McClain back as well, i know several people on here would HATE it though. And i mean, i see where they are coming from. The whole "McClain 4 RB" thing got out of hand, and then when he didnt re-sign here, he decided to go to the chiefs who have 3 other RBs as well. It just didn't make sense, but its all good. We got Leach.

Like i said though, wouldn't mind bringing back McClain if he would be content with limited carries. I would love to see him line up behind Leach and just have that power run like we did with Neal and him a few years back.

Oh and to get this back on topic, no.

Lynch is not signing to be a back up and he is going to get paid. We can't afford him and I don't see him in a Ravens uniform next season.

This thread makes no sense. Lynch is an obvious starting back, the same role that Rice plays. It's like what someone else said about we might as well sign Drew Brees to be Flacco's backup
