The Little Things

54 posts in this topic

I realized just about an hour ago that there is nothing quite like the feeling of getting off work and getting home and changing into regular clothes to lay down with a good book. There are so many negative threads on here that I figured I would make one that we could use to appreciate the little things that make life fun.

I feel like crap when I get off work. I hate working. So I have miserable Monday - Friday evenings. But there's nothing like sleeping in on the weekends, knocking back a few beers and watching movies

Listening to a cd or reading a book is great for me.
I have been reading "The Kite Runner". Very intersting book.

Hosseini's other book is even better, as amazing as that seems! Read that one when you're done!

And I would add gettin the work clothes off, rolling up your sleeves, heading out on a good ol' fashioned deadrise and helping the fam pull up some crab traps. NOTHING could be better than that--just you and the quiet bay. There's nowhere like it on earth.

A Thousand Splendid Suns. Correct. I read that book in a day. I don't usually read that much in a day, but I cleared my schedule to finish it. It's just addictive.

Hahahah I know. I'm usually with you. I started it one lazy morning and I literally stayed up till 4:30 am because I had to know. I would say even halfway through, I still didn't think I would finish it, but as the story got better, I just couldn't put it down and go to bed...

The man can tell a story.

Oh it is! The man just has a gift for telling stories. He is a great author for us regular folk who like the story more than needing some sort of mandated structure to the prose.

I don't hate my job and I don't mind being busy all the time, but my schedule has certainly made me appreciate weekends off. There's nothing quite like a Lazy Sunday to follow a Lazy Saturday to cap off a Lazy Weekend. I'm sure I'd be more active on weekends if my work week wasn't so stressful.

I enjoy reading a lot, and I have found a few books that have made the lazy weekends you guys seem to appreciate even better. I've been reading a few series by Simon R. Green; The Nightside Series (At I believe 11 books right now.) and the Drood Series (I think 8) Both are supernatural fiction mystery thriller things. I also am in love with Jim Butcher's Dresden Files. They are another superanatural thriller series, but they are amazing, and the main character is a hilarious smartass. One of my favorite quotes from him is during a confrontation with a bouncer. The bouncer says "Are you always a wiseass?" and Harry responds "No, sometimes I'm asleep."

I agree Cursona. I Check this every morning when I get up, every lunch, and then when I get home. Its a pleasant place. Another one. I love it when people smile. Once I realized that and that I had a good sense of humor, I became a total goofball. I find humor in everything, and I gotta say that I love life more than ever.

Yeah it is. Ive checked out other team forums and they are lame compared to ours.
[/quote]
Very lame. I tried making one for the San Jose Sharks forum and all the people on there just trash you. The Iron Maiden fan club forum is okay but it's mostly British folk and a lot of inside jokes. I more read then post in that one. I just love this forum. I want to marry it. Except the Ravens Talk section after a lost.

Or after a game where Joe's numbers are not at least 350 TDs and 400000000 Yards.

lol I know right! It's not like Joe is a mutsnt from the xmen or something where he just blows everyone out. Every quarterback makes mistakes, nobody is perfect!

okay mini- rant is over.

So I think the little thing I am appreciating today is the existence of rational people in a world full of crazies and creeps.

Even after the draft will be a little frightening. People complaining about the picks and wasted opportunites that they think they see better than Ozzie.
