Raiders Cut Cb Routt - Signs With Chiefs

91 posts in this topic

yes we would have to cut him... so no he is not a UFA, he is on our roster, so as the guy sarcasticly said, maybe your idiot of an org would trade for him
Baltimore, MD - Chris Carr and Haruki Nakamura both say they would like to be back with the Ravens next season, but neither are certain that will be the case.
"I don't know; we'll see," Nakamura said when asked whether he expects to return.
"I might be here, might not be here," Carr said. "Just have to wait and see."
With a deep stable of up-and-coming young cornerbacks, and a special teams unit that struggled at times this season, the two defensive backs may find themselves on other teams next season.
Carr dealt with injuries and dropped down the depth chart late in the season. He missed seven games during the regular season because of back and thigh injuries and started just one game.
He finished the season with 19 tackles, one sack, three passes defended and no interceptions.
Carr signed a reported four-year contract before the 2011 season, but only the first year was guaranteed money, he said, so the Ravens could waive the seven-year veteran in favor of some of the younger cornerbacks like Lardarius Webb, Cary Williams, Jimmy Smith and Danny Gorrer.
"I was injured a lot this year and we have a lot of young guys who can play and play well," Carr said. "You just don't know what the future is exactly."

Even Chris carr says he might be waived because only the first year was guaranteed. So IF comes FA and he cut. Than in all purposes he would be a Unrestricted Fa.

Those are real high there buddy. I couldn't stand it if we didn't have no picks in the first 97.

You can claim all you like that you got "pieces of the future" but there is absolutely no benefit to having no draft picks. We got pieces of our future last year too, as did every other team. Difference is that we can go looking for more future stars this year but you will struggle to do so.
Here is what Raiders received for those picks. 1 Carson Palmer- a top ten qb next season( To win a championship you have to have this kind of caliber QB)

2. For that second they got Joe Barksdale could be next year starting guard or Rt. and RB taiwan Jones- going to be a big tgime player for the Raiders.

3 Terrel Pryor- How many 6'5 235 with 4.38 speed. Hue Jackson says he going to be a very dangerous Qb in this league ande its going to be alot sooner. Still even if he does't make it at Q@b your easy looking at a stud at Wr or Te.

4 JasoN Campbell- had a starting Qb for two year without paying the price.

7 Aaron Curry- what a steal. Played more like the player the seattle seahawks thought they were getting(25 year old )

Now tell me with 17 pick in the3 draft were getting a top ten Qb. (don't think so)

IF Raiders get 3 ,3 and4 or 3 , 4, and 4 or 3, 4 and five/Nothing Without those two first rounders they can just get a big name Freeagent. in freeagency.

Yea I'm really upset as the raiders are in great shape. Hey another year the Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are next season( sooner or later it will be time to say goodbye.
Hey one superbowl with that awesome defense. Nah Qb not that important.;

1. Carson isn't top ten and the trade to get him is looking like a gigantic fail on the Raiders part right now. Unless you win at least one playoff game this coming season then it will remain that way.

2. How do you know that Taiwan Jones is going to be bigtime? He got 73 yards on the season, hardly an indicator that he's destined for stardom.

3. So Pryor is the future of the QB position? But what about Carson, you know, the guy you gave up a 1 and a 2 for?

4. You are paying a price for Campbell, who has absolutely no chance of contributing any more for your team. He got benched in his first year with you, so you can hardly consider him a success for you.

7. Curry played like the player that the Seahawks were getting at 4th overall did he? With his whopping 46 tackles on the season (no INTs, FFs or sacks)

1 Carson Plamer easy a top ten qb next season. A lot of people on this Raven board will be eating major crow. 61% completion percentage and over 8.4 per pass (that elite territory) Give him a whole offseason to grasp the offense and his wr's and the sky the limit for him(no doubt in my mind) Not to mention give him a healthy DMC and Jacoby Ford and your talking even more explosive weapons/numbers.. Ravens will be playing the raiders next year and lets see if your opinion changes after you see what I'm talking about.

2 How do I know taiwan Jones going to be a big time player. After watching football all these years , It's not that hard to know when you have a special player. He probhably going to benefit the most from the new blocking scheme. (zone blocking)
He shows great patience as he will wait for the Oline to open a hole, He has great visiion and can make an instant cut and be gone. The Fastest Rb to ever run teh football for the raiders (not bad when you had BO Jackson) He does need to work on his pass blocking this offseason. Again with Carson Palmer this one a no brainer.

3 T Pryor is the Raider future at Qb. He fits that mobile Qb Knapp offense tends to love. He 22 years old and Like A rodgers doesn't hurt to have a good Qb to learn your craft from.. He can be C Palmer caddy for the next couple of years. Raiders can use him at Wr in the redzone or as a Qb in the redzone(so much you can do with a MCfadden, Jacoby Ford, D moore and T pryor. in the redzone.
Even if he bombs out at Qb he still can be a big time weapon at Wr or Te. Not many 6'5 238 pound wr with 4.38 speed.

4 A Curry was real impresive for the Raiders last season and a reason why you can't just go by stats. Tell me a seventh rounder your getting in his league. in this guy level.. You do know the wlb doesn't play as many snaps as You bring in more Dbs to cover when teams go to 4 and five Wr sets..(your not going to ask a LB to cover one of those Wr)

You have a 25 year old starter, I will take them for a seventh rounder everytime.

Right... just like Jamarcus was the future of the QB position a couple years ago, just like Kyle Boller was suppose to be the Ravens future at QB, and just like Brady Quinn and Jimmy Clausen were suppose to be the future in Cleveland and Carolina? Now he may end up having a good career but let's not get carried away since nobody has seen him step on a NFL field as a starting QB.

Edit: Guys let's try to get this back on Topic here, this thread was about Routt not the Raiders, Palmer or anything like that. Mods please remind our Raiders friend here to stay on TOPIC and he has taken this way off topic right now.

Again raiders are closer to playing in an AFC Championship game because Raiders have Carson Palmer while you have Joe Flacco at Qb. Thats a fact.

At least 7 posts regarding the Raiders offense or something not relating to Stanford Routt. Yet he's the one who needs to be aware about staying on topic. Brilliance.

All you need to know right there.

Anyone know how much the Raiders saved by cutting Routt?

The threads is Raiders cut S Routt. Not what do you think of Stanford Routt the player. Now who was changing the topic me or him. Again this thread with that title is about the Raiders. Fact or Fiction.

The thread is actually titled, "Raiders Cut CB Routt." Had it been titled, "How Will The Raiders Fare After Cutting Routt," you would've had a point. But both the title and the post are specifically about Stanford Routt. There was absolutely no mention of the Raiders offense, Carson Palmer or Joe Flacco. So you certainly did change the topic. Personally, I think Routt was a solid CB, but the contract put too much attention on him.

Carson Palmer makes some of the worst decisions of any quarterback in the NFL. Fact.

He's not even as good as Kyle Orton.

Best secondary I think with Berry back healthy. Nice move. They have a good team with their players back and if they retain Bowe.

Idk about best secondary. I would still take ours over theirs, plus 49ers, Eagles,Giants,Jets . In the long run it could be.

Still great pick up for them, they have a lot of talent, I think they'll have a good year next year.

I would too and feel we have a top 3 secondary. Actually I take that back and will say when Ed retires they have the best if they keep it intact. I like our mix of size, playmaking ability and hitting with Pollard. You know Romeo is going to have thoae guys playing though.

Carr > Routt. Routt led the league in PI penalties last year. We know how frustrating it can be to have that guy on the team right? *Ahem* Frank Walker.

I see a 0% chance they would franchise Carr over Bowe, even if for some reason they didn't want Bowe to stick around he would be great trade bait.

I might be wrong but don't the Chiefs have a gang of money? They didnt go crazy spending, resigned some players but I think they have enough cash to keep both.

Don't like the move for KC.

The guy is one of the more overrated players in the NFL.

Agreed. It makes absolutely no sense for them to replace Carr with Routt, what with them being significantly under the cap.
