Big D May Deal For Roy Williams

26 posts in this topic

The link says it all, but I don't think the WR position is the Cowboys' problem as much as it's OUR problem. This stinks because I was holding out at least a little hope that Oz would work his magic and steal away Williams

So now they will have two Roy Williams on their team. Dallas is in trouble this season, Roy Williams is not going to solve it for them.

Nope, and after reading that story and seeing the Lions are demanding a 1st Rounder makes it clear to me that we need to avoid at all costs because we are going to need that #1 pick for a DB...

True that. Now all the trade talks on here can officially stop.

How huge is there salary cap?![/quote]

I think Jerry is banking, no pun intended, on an uncapped year in 2009 or 2010 lol

And yet, even with this highly unnecessary trade, the Cowboys may still fail to reach the Super Bowl.

Dallas still has Washington and the Giants in their way to the top of the NFC East, and the loss of Tony Romo for a month could really hurt, unless Brad Johnson returns to his 2002 Pro Bowl and Super Bowl-winning form.

It's sad that Dallas has so many weapons, and still finds ways to lose games they're expected to win. All that talent may have snakebitten the team...

And you guys wonder why we can never field a solid offense. We invest way to much in our defense. We need to start investing more in our offense.

I'd have like Williams, but a 1st a 3rd and a 6th is just crazy. Roy williams is not that good! Pats got Randy Moss for a 4th!

Why do people always point that out? Randy Moss was a distraction in Oakland and he had only scored like 3 td's the season before. Everybody thought he was done.

People didn't think he was done. He was still 6'4, speed to burn, crazy leaper, and you don't lose hands like he had. I don't think you can blame the man for not being motivated in Oakland.I'd imagine Al Davis and failure can do that to you.

The problem is he was not using his great ability and he was getting older. It was a big gamble to trade for him because you couldnt tell whether he truely was just playing when he wanted to or if he had lost a step. Thats why the price was so low.

I totally agree, Neepo, but Ozzie has missed on basically EVERY receiver he has ever drafted, whether in the 1st Round or otherwise! He just doesn't seem to get it for some reason! We need a big (6'4" or taller), fast (4.35 or better) WR on this team, and until then we will continue to be anemic through the air, regardless of who our QB is and IF Joe is our "QB of the future" Oz better spend, at minimum, 5 picks on the offensive side of the ball in '09

He was losing his starting job to a no name wide receiver who's not in the league anymore..

Its going to take more then one year. It took us several years to build a great defense and its going to take the same for the offense.

T.O made it happen, I guarantee! He kept complaining about getting double coveraged and now since Williams is in action, it should change everything... I think even the Ravens Defense won't stop this offense...

This is insanse how they have alot of cap room available for a top receiver like Williams.

I know for sure once my fantasy QB comes back in action I will bank off him :D I'm pretty much stuck with Gus Frerotte until Romo feels better. Hopefully this will motivate him more to come back and play, instead of waiting a month.

Another thing to add, the Cowboys have one of the youngest Defenses too. Just wait till the defense gels, probably another "dynasty" for the cowboys, with an offense like that? :(

It's definitely hard to have a dynasty with free agency nowadays. It really all revolves around the QB position.

Dallas's salary cap is going to be horrendous, and some of their players will be looking for big contracts soon enough. Plus the talent they add doesn't really seem to gel very well. Bunch of crybabies, thugs, distractions, etc. They do have talented players, buts its really about how they gel as a team.

The Redskins have tried to expierment with this theory over the last decade, and have failed. Just recently have the Redskins started drafting players. I see the Dallas team as a let down - year in and year out.
