Ooooooooooooooh Cliff. That man was a virtuoso!!!!

I listened to Metallica non-stop on the anniversary of his death last year (which I believe was the 25th).

Today's his birthday coincidentally enough. Good time to do it again.

I'm a major 80's metal head. Been in countless bands, and have seen countless bands live.

Cursona, I believe you said you started getting into Iron Maiden. i've seen them 4 or 5 times, one of the best bands out there to see live. They put on an amazing show. First saw them back in '84 on the Power Slave tour.

Saw Metallica with Cliff Burton on bass during the Master of Puppets tour.

Megadeth is pretty awesome live also.

Always remember......Up the Irons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

power slave tour!!!??? no. fair. I have yet to see them. I am in the Iron maiden fanclub so i get tickets if they ever come here first before the public. Powerslave is one of my favorite songs. Iron Maiden is my favorite band and can never get old with me.

UP THE IRONS!!!(i never thought i would be able to say this with anyone on here!)

Absolutely. I never had any idea of how good he was until I started playing bass. The man was truly amazing.

RIP Cliff

My best friend is a diehard Metallica fan. He has an RIP Cliff shirt and a multi thousand dollar replica bass that he treasures.

Gaaaaaaaaah imagine Cliff now...in his 40s....gads I really can't believe that my favorite thrash metal bands are all in their 40s now.

Oh here's a topic for us to discuss....

Who would be in your Ultimate Metal Band? smile.png

Mine would go something like this

Singer: Bruce Dickinson, Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford (those men could freaking WAIL!!!)

Bass: Cliff. ('nuff said)

Guitar: Kerry King, Olavi Mikkonen (lead for Amon Amarth)

Drums: Dave Lombardo or Charlie Benanti

Love Slayer, but no thanks to King in an ultimate metal Super Band. Kerry does not have one solo I find tolerable. He just hits as many strings along as many frets as he can... as fast as he can. *yawn*

Yeah. Its an awesome guitar, but it was like 4500 dollars. His dad is a doctor, so it wasnt that big a deal for him, but its a sweet guitar.

Alright

Vocals: Sorry, but gotta go Vince Neil. If not him, then Ronnie James Dio

Bass: Rick Savage (Def Leppard)

Guitar:Angus Young

2nd Guitar: "Torch" DeMartini (Ratt)

Drums: Matt Sorum (GNR, STP, Velvet Revolver)

Vocals: I call them "the big three", Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson and Geoff Tate (Queensryche). Also gotta give major props to Dio, may he RIP also.

Guitar: who cares, they're a dime a dozen. :D

If I must...Although he's an absolute ***, Dave Mustaine.

Bass: Steve Harris. As much as I like Cliff, Harris is the reason I started playing bass.

Drums: Scott Travis. Was the drummer for Racer X, he joined Judas Priest when they released Painkiller.

Have you seen the Live After Death video? That was filmed during the Powerslave tour.

Powerslave is one of my favorite songs too. Probably my favorite Maiden CD (although they have so many!).

Absolutely, Up the irons!!

Steve Harris made me pick up the bass as well. Not as good as him however lol. Have you seen his blue bass replica? only like 4000 dollars lol. Harris is also a great songwriter with bruce. Lol the big three! All those guys are awesome. I wish they did an album together.

I dont know, something about Geoff Tate just creeps me out. I like Queensryche and I have a lot of their albums, but he is just disturbing looking somehow. And his voice does not match his appearance, much like Boston's Brad Delp.

My father has some type of Paul Stanley guitar, its all black. I will have to ask him what it is. I have only seen it once since he keeps it hidden for some reason. I have a Bass and a bad stringed guitar. I need a new amplifer too. What do you dudes/chicks/ or both got?

I have a 20 Year old, immaculate condition Fender Acoustic, and a Sky Blue (I didnt choose the color, it was a gift) Fender Stratocaster. I only have a small amp because it was free and I dont need anything bigger to practice with at home.

Yea, he is kind of strange looking.

No doubt about Delp. Amazing voice, certainly didn't look anything like a singer.

I have a Rickenbacker bass, looks exactly like the one Geddy Lee used to play.

A '72 Fender Precision.

Can't remember the year, but an old Gibson SG bass, looks a lot like the guitar Angus Young plays.

Its just a really ugly color for something as cool as a Strat. How many metal guitarists play with cotton candy colored axes?

Definitely. That inhumanely high pitched voice sung by a 6', 230 lbs ish man with long curly hair and a long beard. Does not fit at all. And as far as hair, Sib Hashian, the Boston drummer. White dude with an incredibly tall afro.....

And thats why I am trying to find a way to change it to black..At least a cheap way. There are plenty of ways that are rediculously expensive.
