Calling All Metal Fans

Yeah but overall they are considered to fall into the respective categories. I wish I could just transfer the unconscious distinction to other people.

What would you call the Tri-Siberian Orchestra?

Some songs of both Crue and GNR can be considered hard rock. I dont know what the definition is :(

I agree. Not sure how the heck to define either.

AC/DC is another that has songs that could be considered hard rock and some metal.

This is quite the quandary!

Yeah but again, I would consider AC/DC overall as Hard Rock. They have some metallish songs but they have the general sound of hard rock. I can say that, but I cant explain the sound difference.

If you like Trans Siberian Orchestra ... you may want to check out Van Helsing's Curse. Same basic idea, only they do Halloween music. It's a Dee Snider (Twisted Sister) project. You can find videos on the Tube of You. Their CD is great for playing on Halloween if you're passing out candy. Actually had a few children too scared to come up to the house just because of the music being so loud.

I LOVE Metal \m/ my first ever concert was this year's Maiden England Tour, with Alice Cooper and Iron Maiden in Atlanta. I'm going to Metal Alliance tour in a few months. Anthrax, Exodus, Municipal Waste...

Im really getting int this progressive rocky metal stuff. Im really like this changing sound and the grooves that go into it. I got this influence from Mastodon's crack The Skye album and now starting to listening to ISIS and Amon Amarth? I think its spelled like that. I dont know but Im loving this!

WOW !!! I Think I found my home thread on the forums :).

I absolutely love metal. I have been a heavy metal listener since i was very young and got to hear it from older cousins, neighbors and 98 Rock.

I really didn't get into it though until the mid 80's after hearing Iron Maiden, and then adopting Anthrax as my band for many many years. Thanks to my older sister I also found out about punk rock, like the Dead Kennedys, and Minor Threat to name a few.

To be happily rocking along, until i heard Nirvana and I nearly destroyed my stereo in a fit outrage. Initially I couldn't stand Nirvana, Pearl Jam, or any of that other Seattle noise until a couple of years after the fuss died down. I put my head down and kept rocking out to Anthrax, Maiden, and anything else that didn't have to do with the grungy music.

When I think i finally struck the balance and enjoyment though in metal, was somewhere around 2005. Sitting at my computer late one night in the house, I started digging around in Media Player and found all these different radio stations. I stumbled upon this one ... 4UROCKNMETAL. It turns out its French but the music was primarily in English, with a couple of other language songs thrown in. I was so blown away by it, I adjusted my Napster to go Account to start picking up all the bands i was hearing. I found Power Metal and I absolutely love it to this day.

I spend a lot of my time listening to Power Metal, Thrash Metal, and sometimes just good old fashioned rock.

Anthrax, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Pantera, Slayer, Megadeth.

But also, Stratovarius, Black Majesty, Iced Earth, Masterplan, Sabaton, Avantasia, EdGuy, Blind Guardian, Rhapsody, Fairyland, Excalion, Manowar, Falconer, and 100's of other bands as well.

I plan to post here more often. :)

Dude you have to listen to Sixx AM. They have both slow and fast songs, but its modern metal and hard rock and its incredible. The lyrics are dark and deep, and the vocals are insane.
