I don't think so, I think it was a matter of Boldin came cheaper than Marshall. The Dolphins gave up 2 second round picks for Marshall, we gave up a third, fourth, and fifth for Boldin. With the trade to Denver we got Dickson (a higher 3rd round pick than we had), Pitta (a higher fourth round pick than we had), and Kindle (a higher second round pick than we had). If Kindle works out, the way Steve put it we traded our first round pick for Q, Dickson, Pitta, and Kindle - I think justifiably we could say the first three together are worth more than Brandon Marshall individually - just my opinion. I like Marshall, but I like the package of Q and the tight ends a lot more. Remember too, we traded our third and fourth to Arizona for Q and a fifth, and we took Art Jones with that pick, who looks like he could become a nice player for us. So in all, the trade for Q netted us a lot of good players. I don't know if the loss of 2 second rounders (which would have been Torrey Smith as well) would have justified Marshall.
We missed out on Gronkowski with the Denver trade that got us Kindle, Dickson and Pitta. The best TE in the NFL or two duds and a 5th round TE with potential? i'll be surprised if Kindle and Dickson are still in the league in 3 years or if Pitta ever learns to block.
But you might be right about the Boldin trade, it's hard to argue for Marshall, Gronkowski against Boldin, Cody, Torrey etc.
