Ted Ginn is an unreliable receiver and would be only special teams for us. Royal would be better but he isn't better than Lee Evans. I'll pass, we already spent the pick on Evans might as well ride it out.
That's my point if you read what I wrote. We need players who can return kicks and punts and that will help the offense more than anything. I don't want them on offense, just for special teams and returning kicks and punts.

i would prefer tp bring in another torrey. someone you know he will be here for more than one season. you cannot bring washed out guys in all the time and expect them to be stars like they were in their prime. let them grow together. let them build chemistry.

you need that for years. we are not a one year wonder team. we are a franchise playing in the playoffs the last four years. we expect success on a constant basis.

build around flacco and rice. torrey was the first step. tandon was the first and a half maybe. now let´s take the second step with another young addition to the team....

I understand your point but those guys would demand high money because they have been starters in the past. The best way to find a return guy is through the draft.

with jim caldwell as the new QB coach a good fit might be Garcon, jim is familiar with him and would speed up the connection between WR and QB

Braylon Edwards?

I thought we had enough droppers on the team.
yup, if we sign a guy it will be someone who is a reliable pass catcher, i hope its a bigger WR who can go up and get it when Joe throws it up...even when he is covered, he's not really covered...that type of WR

think GRONK but the WR version..a little slimmer but faster and great hands

is he out there ? haha

ok here is my thing the chances of us getting Marques Colston is not very good you know he wants to stay with drew even tho he is a free agent to and he is going to get paid big by the saints and the saints are going to want his right hand man with him so dont even get your hopes up with him but there is robert mechum also a free agent with the saints making new deals with Marques Colston and drew im not exactly sure how they are going to have enough money to get him to then take wes welker out he is going to want to stay with tom and Reggie Wayne is too old we are trying to get young. Vincent Jackson we dont have the money for so who is left Dwayne Bowe, Steve Johnson and Desean Jacksone. Steve Johnson drops the ball way to much and desean jacksone wants to much well then there is bowe he wants to change teams he has no quarterback bring him here we are stacked what other things do we need not including our o line.

As good as many of these guys are, I can't really get excited about any of them. The receivers the Ravens have brought in during the last couple of years have turned out to be underwhelming at best.

In addition, we all know that no matter who is on the roster, the Ravens plays are going to be Rice up middle for no gain, repeat, pass, punt.

They're usually the players that teams don't let go. The Ravens flirted with Malcom Floyd last offseason but he opted to stay in San Diego.

Desean Jackson anyone? Saying the Ravens could be trade partners when the Eagles franchise Jackson. Don't know how much we would have to give up and don't think we could even afford his contract.

Lol. If we were the Oakland Raiders then I would say that makes sense. We aren't, so we actually care about our draft picks. There's no way he comes to Baltimore unless we trade player for player, or he's a free agent. Either way, I don't expect him to wear our colors.

Michael Floyd, from Notre Dame. I don't think they're brothers, but they're similar athletes. Around the same weight but Malcom is 2 inches taller (6'5) - I think Michael is supposed to be the better player.

Lol nice post man you had me at my desk dying laughing. I think we cut Lee then we resign him for something cheaper. Maybe 2 with maybe 3 if he meets certain incentives. I am all for if cam Cameron is going to use holding the way he is used just cut him and let him go to a team with a coordinator that will use him correctly and just go with Lee and Smith with a Doss or another rookie draft pick in the slot. Paying 7 mil for a slot reciever that runs go routes if crazy.(SAD I actually have to write this but I am only half serious just to see what others think)

I'm not going to lie, the though of a motivated Randy Moss is tempting. He has some of the best hands in NFL history, and Cam would actually use him properly (Randy hates going over the middle, so Cam putting him on the outside would be perfect). But what are the chances of him being motivated for 19 games in a row?

Ted Ginn, yeah nothing to jump out of your seat about but this is probably the biggest name wr the ravens will take a real shot at.

Why Ginn makes sense:

1. He didn't have a huge year for the niners and had an injury that sidelined him for the playoffs (he's not really injury prone, stuff just happens). This equates to a much lower price tag then the rest of this year's "Name" FA wr's. He's this year's bargain wr, you get good value considering the price. This is exactly the kind of wr Ozzie would be looking to add considering how tight cap is this offseason.

2. He's a return specialist! Besides his reasonable price tag, Ginn's biggest upside for us is his return ability. He housed a punt and a kickoff in the same game earlier this year when he was healthy. He's among the top 10 fastest players in the whole league and hasn't fumbled since 2008. After the David Reed debacle in Seattle.. we need a returner who can make plays, but more importantly secure the ball. I think Ginn is our guy.

3. Underrated in the passing game. Ginn can be a weapon if used correctly. His elite speed always makes him a threat to break a big play off when he catches the ball in space. Having 2 wr's that can blow past anyone in the league is a nice luxury. If it weren't for an unnescessary chop block, Ginn would have broke a catch and run for a TD against us earlier this year.

4. Cam did draft him 9th overall in 2007. Take that for what it is but that connection is definitely helpful for establishing a line of communication and luring him over here. I'm sure they have some sort of relationship considering how highly Cam thought of Ginn coming out of college.

Why the other options don't make sense:

Dwayne Bowe: Price, cap is tight this offseason as we all know. Signing our own guys to long term contacts makes a big splash signing highly unlikely.

Marques Colston: Price, good fit here, I like his size a lot.. just is gonna be too expensive at the end of the day

Vincent Jackson: Price, I think he stays in SD anyway

Mario Manningham: Price, his buzz is high right now coming off that spectacular SB catch. If it weren't for that catch and the Giants SB win I think he would be a good option. Unfortunately since his buzz is so high, his price will be too.

Reggie Wayne: Price, we don't need a short term fix at such a high cost. Just doesn't make sense from any angle.

Stevie Johnson: Price

Desean Jackson: Price

Players that make sense but not as much as Ginn:

Plaxico Burress: Would make a good red zone target, price is in our ballpark. I just don't think he's a fit with our team.

Brandon Lloyd: Underrated and price isn't too bad. I just don't see a role for him here.

Robert Meachem: I think if the Sainst retain Colston they'll lose Meachem. This kid has game and could find a role on our offense. I think his asking price will just be just a little too high.

Meachem makes more sense than Ginn in my opinion. Still in his athletic prime, capable of playing on the outside, and 11 drops in his four-year career(according to PFF).

Really? I spent too much time for this to get skipped over in 9 page thread. This is basically an article I just wrote, it's a different converstion topic than just a list of FA wr's. We allow 2 sentence threads about cutting Ray Lewis to stay up.. c'mon give me some respect for the work I put in. This is a well constructed breakdown, it be disrespectful to let it get ignored in a long thread.

I like Meachem next after ginn, but you get a 2 for 1 with Ginn. he can be utilized in the passing game but more importantly is a premiere returner. Plus I think Meachem will be a tier above Ginn in asking price.

A motivated Randy Moss at a potential bargain is a tempting proposition, there are so many potential options at WR in free agency and the draft, how can the Ravens pass up the chance to explore those options especially if the price is right for them.

I appreciate the work you put into compiling the list and making the thread. It's just there's another FA WR thread with a good number of pages.

I'd pay for that asking when it comes to Meachem. He's a far better receiving threat than Ginn, and quality return men aren't hard to come by in the draft. The team carried six WRs on the active roster most of this past season before Reed went down. Assuming Evans is released, they could sign a player like Meachem and draft a WR with return skills. Reed is under contract for 2012 but it'll be a small miracle for him to make the team next season coming off an ACL tear.

Not a fan of Ginn, he'd be a good return guy, but I don't see how he fits in with what we want to do here. I really think Cam's stubborn enough to keep Q on the outside until the front office brings in another legitimate outside threat so Q can move into the slot.
