A teams salary cap ? Maybe another team offers more $$ ? Maybe the player doesn't like his team? or there is some other conflict? Maybe the player wants to move closer to home by signing with another team? So many reasons but the main one is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
those guys mentioned above are all getting paid. so that might not be the reason. what i meant was why should you leave your team to play for the ravens? don´t get me wrong! we all love our ravens. we have no cap space for a big name. we have way too many guys getting paid way too much for doing like nothing (carr, foxy, evans,...)

I still believe in Tandon Doss tbh..
he will get his chance next year that´s for sure!

Sorry, I'm too tired of our WR corps rotating around to sign another. Give Joe some time to work with the ones he has and they might surprise you.

sorry for replying to my own thread so many times back to back

On Tandon Doss I too believe he will be a factor, he was a great talent in college and has the most reliable hands maybe of anyone on the team but he's got solid competition to get on the field with LaQuan Williams
Competition is good. But the team will only be able to see what either can do in an extended run, if they're actually given an opportunity. The list of free agent WRs is definitely interesting. But bringing in another WR this year, even one of the lesser guys like Meachem, would again relegate guys like Doss and LaQuan to special teams duty and nothing more.

I think to be fair we have to give Q2 and Doss a full offseason to get with the team and prove themselves before we get a FA guy.

I wouldn't mind seeing Meachem or Manningham if they would come cheaper then Evans.
The problem is we can't develop a WR. Torrey is the best we have ever had as a draft pick. We need a WR that already has proven himself before coming here.
Not at all. There hasn't been a better environment for the team to develop a WR now. A franchise QB is in place, and Q and Torrey have established themselves atop the depth chart. Guys just need a shot.

i know i know. i saw the list. it is all good. lol

at the end of the day it´s more or like Ed_Reed 20 said above. if we bring someone in our own promising guys won´t see the field. if they aren´t good enough. well fine then but if they sit on the bench just because of another name? i don´t want to see that.

what i want to see is what joe can really do with guys he throws the ball to for more than one season. don´t get a new one again (unless it is floyd).

we have a lot of talent on our roster. lets see what they can do after a real offseason...

Yeah, its a lot easier to develop a WR when you have a good QB...is it a coincidence that Torrey Smith panned out? Do you think he would have been as successful if he had Kyle Boller ? I doubt it, Joe will help in developing WRs because he is going to put the ball where it needs to be and make it easier for them

if we had Joe when we drafted Mark Clayton he may still be around

We can't afford any of these guys.

How about Eddie Royal for a cheap option? He doesn't seem to like Denver very much, he's young (25), fast, and he also returns punts.

if you check out the full list there are plenty of options, there is also the draft

Ozzie said WR is one of his top wants along with OL and more pass rushers...its a good year to be looking for a WR, that was the point of this thread
Word last season was that he was requesting a trade. But that was of course before they made the playoffs.

I really don't think we need yet another FA WR. They just haven't panned out the way we expected in the least. Even Boldin hasn't really had the big splash we expected. Might as well give LaQuan and Doss their chance and see how it goes. Bring Evans back, the man can definitely contribute next season. He got injured. It happens.

Besides, with all we're trying to do in regards to Rice/Flacco right now not to mention Grubbs and all our own FAs I don't see how we'll have any extra cap space to really play with.

Stevie Johnson won't be back next year with Buffalo because of his antics and not clutch play. So he will be out there. I can see NYJ getting him though. i don't want him.

Bowe might be good but might cost to much. I think we should get a guy in the draft if we really need one. I believe we are fine personally.

I really like Reggie Wayne.

We wont have to break the bank for him, and hes exactly what we need. Maybe Cam would finally start using the 3 WR set. I mean who do you sit between Boldin, Wayne, and Smith?

Hey... At least Chaz Schilens can do what Lee Evans did this season for a fraction of the cost. Get injured and spend the whole year nursing back to health. Schilens can do that for half a million dollars.
Good point. He wouldn't cost us much in compensation, too. I'd much rather have Bowe.

great route runner, great hands, quicker than mase, better guys than mase (temperment wise) its what we need but again its only a stop gap

I rather the ravens just draft a wideout it I think the ravens need to just groom their own wideout like they did with Torrey Smith besides I think Tandon Doss, Laquan WIlliams, David Reed or Even Lee Evans( if he's around) could become special for the offfense next season

Yeah, but this time we don't have to feel guilty because we have our young guy in Smith. Not to mention the TE's.

Why not sj13? Would he really cost that much?
Steve Johnson? The Bills just paid Ryan Fitzpatrick a lot of money, and I think they're going to do everything they need to in order to retain his number 1 guy.

If the Ravens are looking to upgrade the WR position as Ozzie said they will be looking to do, this year is the deepest the free agency class of WR has been in a while...check this list out, here are some of the top guys available

(in no particular order)
Vincent Jackson
Dwayne Bowe
Wes Welker
Reggie Wayne
Desean Jackson
Marques Colston
Steve Johnson
and many more

http://www.footballs...2012/fa/wr.html

Now I don't know if Ozzie is looking to sign a WR that cost less or maybe find another one in the draft somewhere, but this year is a good one to pick up a WR in free agency...
I'll keep Lee Evans. Those guys look expensive and I am more concerned about keeping our squad together than hitting free agency.

There are some good free agents, but I'd rather draft someone in rounds 2-4 and have them grow with the team. We can use the money we'd save somewhere else, like retaining our own free agents.

Hey Reggie!

Ed is lonely... He's sorry for the pet snake, so let's make it up by playing together for a super bowl, even though you been there twice.

I believe the top tier ones are out of our price range ($9+ M per year)

Reggie Wayne is probably going to follow Peyton

I don't trust system WRs in our system due to Cam misusing them.

Dang, I wish we pulled the trigger to get Malcolm Floyd last year. Now we have Lee Evans and his burdensome contract. Anquan Boldin is a great #2 Wr in the slot. We can only hope Torrey emerges as a #1 and hope our other younger WRs do better. Tandon had a disappointing rookie year, however he might still have a chance, even though he is built like Anquan Boldin.

The WR that might get my interest could be Chaz Schilens.
Since he's labeled as injury-prone, he might have to take a one year prove-it contract.

6-4 225 lbs, he's built like Malcolm Floyd and can be a big deep threat or be a sacrifical lamb for the defense to beat up.

We need that red zone presence to keep the defense from stacking the box.

I wonder why he gets hurt so much... Basically the Raiders used him to go over the middle to get eaten by the defense,
That was a hideous catch in the first video. He was all by himself and he almost let the ball bounce off his chest and onto the ground.

Bowe is going to cost a team big $$$. He held out during training camp as a rookie because he wasn't happy with his contract offer. I'm pretty sure he's going to do the same thing now.
