Flacco will be as good as his offensive line is next season. He needs help there. If we get the right pieces to keep him upright in the pocket, with the receiving core that we have the sky is the limit.
Thats the most positive Flacco related post you've had. Completely agree!

I really like the guy, just have a realistic point of view when it comes to where he is at in his production. Next season he will only get better.
We have to be willing;
#1. To pay him.

#2. To protect our investment.

Exactly. we need to make sure he has protection and weapons if we're going to commit to him.

I think this year was his breakout year. Imagine what would have happened instead of he still had Heap Mason Housh and Boldin this year. But it was good to make the cuts, need to get younger at faster

To any hater or supporter hes already literally proven he can get us to the superbowl and thats all we need to know and now we do...if so many passes werent dropped his stats would of looked so much better...btw if people criticize joe for only 20TD's and 12int's and 3600yds why not big ben for only 21TD's and 14int's and 4000yds? not to big a difference and plus joe went farther then ben and you cant say joes defense carried him cuz the same can be said for ben and the number 1 ranked D...if so many people claim big bens elite then whats that make flacco?

Yup, the Ravens need a strong OL no matter what...Ozzie knows it and we all saw it first hand in the playoffs

We as fans know hes doing it and can do it. Im talking about the breakout season he is looking for. The one where he dont have to defend himself whenever a reporter is around.
I'll be waiting. Interested to see what will be changing with Cam coming back and re-building our offensive line.

I am looking forward to see what Joe can do this coming year. With four good years of experience, and making the playoffs every year, the future is bright. The Ravens front office has a strong track record of signing good talent. I am looking forward to the start of the season.

As most have said, Flacco has broken out. With the off season to work as well as a new QB coach (a second offensive opinion as well), we should hope to see a lot more happen.

A career 86 passer rating isn't exactly breaking out. If it is, then I guess i've been right all along that he is overrated. With a qb coach and full off season with his offense, hopefully he can build off of what he did in 2010. But you are mistaken if you think he has broken out. That is setting the bar very low.

Perhaps you're setting it too high.

Cam offense and a bunch of dropped passes remember?

Let's not be one dimensional here...

If I'm not mistaken it was Joe Flacco that called himself Elite. So he put the target on his back. As for the dropped passes, we have been over this in the other thread, Aaron Rodgers had just as many dropped passes and had fewer attempts.

I think that some people underestimate the impact of coordinators and scheme. We play the odds conservatively in many situations, like with a one score lead against a team that we expect to beat.

And you realize that we were just one sure handed TD catch away from facing Eli Manning in the SB right?

I had Eli as my QB in fantasy and he faced the SAME criticism that Flacco faced. Hell he even called himself elite. He proved it this year, but he had a much better receiving corps than Flacco did.

If you put Flacco in Eli's shoes, I'm sure he would do just as well.

You cannot compare Flacco to Aaron Rodgers as that's simply not fair to either of them. Second of all, in that same system you're glorifying A-Rod, Matt Flynn went off for 6 TD's and almost 400 yards. Not to mention Rodgers' WR corp gets him a lot of YAC, the only stuff Flacco could dream about with this system and WRs as its currently constituted. And far as Flacco putting a target on his back about being elite, if a few fraudulent errors go his way, he may have been onto something.

I overall agree that he definitely needs to get better. I particularly would like him to get better with his reads. He's sort-of fixed his pocket awareness, but he still fumbled the ball a lot and he needs to know that the ball is worth more than he is. In time all that will come just as I hope O-line fixes and WR play is fixed as well. Flacco has already had a break out year. (2010 for those wondering) 2012 I'm hoping he can go Brees-like and have 30 TD's 5 INT's and 4000 something yards.

Speculations are cheap.............GET IT DONE. Maybe then Joe will be close to being right when he wants to call himself "elite". And by the way, this was Eli's second ring. THATS "elite"

Joe never called himself "elite" (that was Eli). All Joe ever claimed to be was a "damn good quarterback".

To put it bluntly and simply: super bowl wins are a team stat, not a QB individual stat. Joe has done enough to take his team deep in the playoffs the past 2 seasons, we could have won the game in New England to go to the Super Bowl this season if not for less than clutch play by his teammates at the end. Joe did enough. Last season, as well, Joe did enough, but less than clutch play once again kept up from going deeper in the post-season. Ben's Super Bowl years, he got there despite a lot of poor play, due to his team performing clutch, a luxury Flacco has not had. Flacco puts in a good performance, but his team doesn't help him out. That doesn't make Flacco worse than Ben, just because Ben can get bailed out of a bad performance by the rest of his teammates.

The different between Eli and his 2 rings and Flacco and his 0, is that Eli's players performed clutch in important situations. Flacco's did not. So you're saying Eli can be called elite because his TEAMMATES performed well at the right time, but Flacco cannot because his teammates failed him at the wrong time? That's not fair to the quarterback to characterize them based on the quality of those surrounding them. It's not that simple.

Some people have blinders on. But hopefully Flacco can get it done in his 5th year...

I didnt start this trying to bash Joe. I just see him overcoming a lot of criticism he receives. I believe we see a different Joe Flacco next year hence breakout season. Hes gonna do things next year that will put our offense on the map. With the schedule we do have a top ten offense next year would be major progress and thats what im hoping to see from Joe and company.

All I'm saying is Flacco.....damn good quarterback, yes.....elite, no. Ben's early SB, I'll give you that his play had seen better days. The second SB, he should have won MVP. The throw in the corner of the endzone to win the game was perfect. Holmes had an equally good day and won MVP. Could have gone either way. Then Ben goes on to lead the Steelers to yet a third SB.
Eli Manning in both SB put his team on his back and got it done.
Ben, Eli, Brady, Rogers all elite because if not for them, The Steelers, Giants, Patriots, and Packers never make it to one SB, let alone multiple ones.....Hence, "Elite"
Flacco......Close, but no cigar.

"Elite" is for ESPN talking heads and guys at Reebok who sell you jerseys for $80 a pop. The Baltimore Ravens are a team. There are guys who do their job to help their teams win, and guys who don't. Joe Flacco does. Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Manning, they all do too. That's why they're all in the same company. That's why they all respect each other.

So is Joe elite? I don't care. But the Baltimore Ravens are with him behind center. And anyone who denies that is kooky...

Just as long as we go undefeated at home again next year (difficult feat but i think we can still do it), its probably our last true shot at a superbowl with ed reed and lewis, assuming reed finishes off his deal. Man, do i want ed to have that ring for us, he gets beaten up on the field but plays with so much heart

I think its less on Joe breaking out and more on the rest of this team not letting him down.

Our receivers need to work on catching the ball. Cameron needs to work on creating better routes for our receivers, and creating more designed roll out plays for Joe.

But, in the sense that Joe will have a breakout statistical year, I agree. Us Ravens fans know what we have, and thats a damn good QB. I think he will shut the national media up next year.

This is incorrect. It was a sportscenter interview by MNF crew (we played Texans, it was a monday in 2010) and Joe came out and said "I am an elite Quarterback".

Target painted.
