If The Pats Win.....

65 posts in this topic

I didn't really care about who won the Super Bowl. I didn't want to see a 9-7 team like the Giants win, but I didn't want to see the Pats win either since the Ravens had them beaten. At least now I won't have to hear about Brady all summer.

I think the Ravens would have handled the Giants but no way to know for sure.

I wasn't rooting for the Giants, I was rooting for the Not-Patriots to win.

Still, that was a huge relief to see the Patriots lose.

Can we start talking about how Brady can't handle the pressure in big game situations now? Remember that the two game winning drives in Super Bowls were in no pressure situations (if the drives failed they would have just gone to overtime,) and now the last two Super Bowls he's played in, he's failed to lead the Patriots from behind on the last drive when he was behind.

And the New England Patriots, save for Head Coach Bill Belicheck, were never heard from again, as their empty team bus rolled into Foxboro with a brick on the gas pedal and not a single player, coach, or trainer present. Coach Belicheck was found days later wandering the halls of the Patriots' facility, muttering to himself and apparently still wearing the hoodie he donned during the loss to the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. Owner Robert Kraft released a statement after a meeting with Coach Belicheck stating that some things "should just be left alone" and some questions "have answers too frightening to be spoken aloud." Following the disappearance of the entire team, including Quarterback Tom Brady, Coach Belicheck has reportedly left several messages on Colts owner Jim Irsay's answering machine, offering increasingly high sums of money, draft picks, and "quiet, no questions asked favors" in exchange for Quarterback Peyton Manning.

UPDATE: Sources report that Ravens Owner Steve Bisciotti received a tearful phone 3 AM phone call from Mr. Kraft, apologizing through sobs for denying the Baltimore team their proper place in the Super Bowl. Bisciotti was "deeply disturbed" by the call, particularly by a noise he "could've sworn to be" the frantic voice of Gisele Bundchen, wife of QB Tom Brady.

Well, fortunately, we can now delete this thread!

For the record - NO WAY NY scores 21 on us! Ugh!!!!

To be fair, neither the Giants or the Patriots deserved to be in the Super Bowl. Both the Ravens and 49ers handed their respective games to them.

I totally agree. I think it had to do with both defensive teams not being able to put up enough points. That Super Bowl was a snore fest. They made it interesting late, by then i was already dosing.

It seems that the same angel who made Lee Evans fail also made several Pats fail on the last 2 drives.

The football gods have spoken!

Bernard Pollard has spoken. Gronk may have been able to get to that Hail Mary pass had it not been for that ankle.......Karma is a ------

I am happy the Patriots lost. I am not happy they lost because of Brady, or because they beat us. No, I am happy they lost because it sends a message, and a very important one: defense wins championships. Had the Patriots won, they would have been talking all offseason whether defense really does win, and that it wasn't true anymore. Well, this shows today that defense does still win championships. You cannot win a Super Bowl with a wide receiver playing cornerback.

I have this strange feeling that the Pats dynasty is on it's way down now. I feel that their days are limited, like at least for a year or two, they may drop from the elite.

But it's probably me talking crazy.

I think the Pats felt the same way. I didn't see Edelman out there on defense at all. The game was pretty boring until the 4th, but I don't blame Brady for not winning it. He only had 55 seconds and Hernandez dropped a key pass. Still glad the Pats lost though.

The Giants owe Benard Pollard a nice little "thank you" note! lol

That saftey (2 pts.) at the beginning of the game was Mastercard priceless! It threw Brady off the whole first half lol

We will get a chance to see if we would have beaten the Giants this upcoming season.
I'd like to think that Ray and Ed would never let us lose if they made it to the big game. That said, the way Flacco played and his overall quest to get the critics off his back, I really think we would have beaten the Giants. But we will never know, and that is what truly sucks about this whole thing, I'm glad NE lost, and agree that Brady is overrated slightly, but the fact of the matter is we really blew a great chance to win a SB title this year.

Yea, we did but I'm sure a few other teams feel the same way and it's like that every season. I feel we blew a chance to win the SB atleast 2 other times in Flacco time being here including this time. The Pats losing makes me feel better about our loss though, it's like a burden has been lifted off of my shoulders or something, lol.

I feel the same way, this is easier to stomach. In both SB wins vs the Pats Eli's receivers have made spectacular plays, this is what we need more of next year. And I agree with you, we may have missed at least 2 good chances to win SB titles in the Flacco era, but I feel of all the NFC teams that have qualified...Arizona, Bears, Packers, Giants, we would have matched up best vs...well the Bears obviously but then NY. I think our team would have won tonight, and that makes me a little sick to my stomach still. Our defensive gameplan would have been more aggessive versus last week, more blitzes versus dropping ppl into coverage and I always like our chances when our D is playing that way. Also, I like Ray Rice screens to offset the Giants pass rush, Torrey Smith stretching them deep, Boldin...whatever, it makes no difference.

Lets just hope we can make it back here next year, one last go with Ed and Ray.

Sigh. I really liked our chances too. Look how San Fran matched up with them... and our O is better... this loss will always be such a big what if.

I'm a hater too and thankfully we don't have to hear about Brady.

Thank you, Eli. i'd much rather see your mug plastered all over the news! :)

I agree that the Giants win has me feeling better. Similar to last year, when the Packers beat Pit, that was a big relief. That was us dodging a bullet, while this year was a lifting of my spirits after the two weeks of agony following our loss.

I'm just happy that Pats fans now know how we felt 2 weeks ago. All of the "boo hoo if Welker made that catch..." posts just make me smile. Is that bad?

Disagree. They will only remain competitive as long as their schedule contains the majority of bottom tier defenses. Brady just does not play well versus even middle tier defenses. Forget about actual top defenses.

Outside of us next season I haven't really looked at their schedule to see what defenses they will face.

Brady and BB are the most successful QB-Coach combo ever though.

glad to see the pats lose of course...but, i believe that means that the NFC has been dominating the SB for the last 3 years:

Saints
Packers
Giants

To me, that "QB-coach combo" talks is a joke. When the Pats were winning titles, they had quality RBs, some of the best defensive players of this era and an all-time great kicker. When you boil down the success down to just the Brady and Belichick, you minimize the contributions of other players.
