My man. Only surprise about this is that it's the first time he's done it.

I mean I like suggs, hes a cool chap, and I always love seeing Ravens ball out but.. I simply don't understand how they vote for DPOtY. Lots of players seemed to do better statistically, so maybe you can break it down for me.

It's not all about the stats and the sexy sack numbers

It's for player of the year, the best overall player

Allen and Ware and JPP are great players too but they are not all-rounders like Suggs is

Suggs offers so much more then just pass rushing.

Now if this award was for leading sack numbers [and maybe such an award exists] then good for Jared Allen, he's a player I realy like

But this was DPOTY and Suggs was the deserving winner

Suggs
Fourteen sacks
Seventy tackles and assisted tackles
Two interceptions
Six pass deflections
Seven forced fumbles

Allen
Twenty two sacks
Sixty six tackles and assisted tackles
One interception
Three pass deflections
Four forced fumbles
One safety

As you can see Allen comes out top for sacks and the one safety

But overall Suggs was doing more in coverage.
And forced fumbles are huge, can change the momentum of a game easily and the ability to take over and dominate games will get you noticed by the talking heads

I'm not being a homer when I say Suggs deserved DPOTY
edited for spelling

that is the difference between fans of a team and fans of the the game maybe Jared allen has more sacks than suggs but remember he is only rushing the passer did his performance helped the vikings so much? no they finished 21 in total d# did teams stop throwing the ball against the vikes because of jared allen rushing the edge don't get me wrong he is one of the best in what he does but how much impact did you have on the offensive game plan that is the question for thoes "experts" to call out the player of the year awards.

Because he deserves it. What is it with Ravens fans always finding some reason to complain even in times that complaints aren't warranted.

We go deep in the postseason four times, but Flacco sucks andd Harbaugh and Cameron should be fired.

Now Suggs wins DPOY and here's a thread like this.

Really, there are some depressed and miserable people in this area. You need God in your lives.

Allen is the best half a player in the league. Only Justin Smith is as well rounded as Suggs.

Wow. How about you watch our games. Pay closer attention to Suggs. Then you won't need this broken down for you.

Congrats to Sizzle. He had a great year, and won games for us. My only gripe is I want him to be more consistent. still love him though

Well deserved he has been the best Edge Rusher in the league. At-least something stayed consistent unlike our Offensive and Special teams performances...

Have some faith in Ozzie Newsome because he will add to the

Actually, if there was a year Ed Reed was snubbed from winning the DPOY Award, I'd give it to his 2008 campaign. In Polamalu's case, one could argue that Reed only played 8 games that year. But there wasn't a better defensive player on the field throughout the 2008 season. Bar none.

No arguement on the 2008 campaign but he played 10 games in 2010.

My mistake. I was thinking about his number of INTs and wrote that down by accident. Good catch.

I actually cheered out loud when they announced he won. I figured a Raven wouldn't be given chance. Then Matt gets an award. How cool. Seems the Ravens had a good amount of nominations and two winners when you consider there are 32 teams and so few awards, they, and us fans, should be proud. The Never say Never, Coach of the Year, OPOY, DPOY and Walter Payton award, did I miss any?
I was surprised to hear Suggs say he was nervous. The man talks to the media enough, saying many funny and outrageous things, it made me laugh.
