Help Me Pick An NBA Team To Root For!

45 posts in this topic

Back in high school, before King Arrogant came into the NBA, I rooted for Dirk and the Mavs. I know it's gonna be hard to do, but find a team with star players who have always played for that team. I know it's a business, but it you asked me, the business has grown out of control. I can't stand all these teams going out and signing star players just to be the next dream team. But to be honest, I just can't stand the NBA anymore. Its become a joke to me.

While I'm a Heat fan(been one since '04), I'd say you should root for the Pacers. They've got a good nucleus with Paul George(one of my favorite players), Darren Collison, Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert, Tyler Hansbrough/Psycho T and David West.

I doubt they win a title any time soon, but they should make some noise in the play-offs. They definitely did last year.

Sadly, I'm a wizards fan. But if i wasn't I'd like a team with a good, young nucleus like the Pacers, or the Thunder.

im afraid this might turn into a NBA 2011-2012 season thread!

Requirments to pick a team:

1) has to have a cool looking logo.
2)not a widely known team
3)Not in Canada (sorry Canadians)
4) not in New York

The Minnesota Timberwolves have all these!

I like this Love guy.

The Wolves are a good choice. I like them because I'm a 'Cuse fan and they have Wesley Johnson (they used to have another guy in Flynn but they traded him). Also why I like the Nicks a bit now, because 'Melo went to 'Cuse and helped them win a national title.

It's too bad the Wolves have a logjam at Johnson's position. With legitimate minutes, I think he could be a solid all-around player.

Lately i have been getting into basketball. However I don't know what team to choose. I woulf like a team that isint to good so i don't get yelled at bandwagoning. Just an okay team. Like average underdog team.
When i was like 10 i liked the Toronto Raptors because they had a dinosaur on it. But i want an american team(sorry unamerican ravens fans)
HELP ME OUT!
LOL I liked the Raptors for the same reason, still have a jersey somewhere...

The Wizards are one of the worst teams in the league but you can always get seats for pretty cheap!

So true. I scored 2 tickets for the game against the Thunder a few weeks ago lower end corner for $35 each. And to top it off, the Wizards actually won the game! lol
Also going at the game vs the Knicks on Thursday.

Kevin Love is a beast. 2nd best PF in the game next to Lamarcus Aldridge (my fav. player so yes I'm biased). Does pretty much everything you want from a player and plays on both ends. Very likeable guy.

Ricky Rubio is like a poor man's Steve Nash but has good upside. You'll love his highlight making trick passes as he dishes.

Derrick Williams if he gets more playing time could become a monster. Has tons of untapped potential and could become an All Star in the future.

Timberwolves have some good pieces and a young nucleus, just depends if they can hold onto all of em in Minnesota. Also remember the GM is David KKKKAAAHHHNNNN! (yes you are supposed to yell that) so you're always in for a bag of tricks with their FO.

Since Baltimore doesnt have a team I naturally root for the Wizards.
Watching a pretty good game with them now actually. Theyre in OT and will most likely blow it but its whatever lol.
But I root for my favorite players team which is Mello.
When he was on nuggets that was my team, but now since hes on Knicks I like the knicks lol.
I also like Rose so I guess Bulls would be my 2nd or 3rd favorite NBA team

What do you know, Wizards win thanks to Toronto's inability to secure two rebounds after two crucial missed free throws. And to think we were up 18 at some point.

I've always preferred the NCAA, but this is so true. It's not even a sport any longer. It's like WWE entertainment--plotlines and drama, ridiculous moves, and a bunch of Washington Generals to play to the handful of chosen teams. I think even the most egotistical NFL player would be an amateur in the NBA. It's all about the player, zero about the team.

I may get flack for that, but I seriously can't watch that junk. Back when I was a kid, the NBA was fantastic. Bird, Magic, Jordan... ahhhhh the golden era. Kids today will never believe such a thing existed.

EDIT: if you want a team and don't want to be called a bandwagon fan, the Charlotte Bobcats are a great choice. I'm not entirely sure they could beat the Kentucky Wildcats.
