My take on it is that there needs to be a heavier rotation, it seems like JJ and McPhee are the only high motor guys we have. I cringe when I see our front three locking out their legs on passing downs.

I'm more much concerned with the other facets of his game to be honest. We know the guy can pressure the QB but can he do the other things like pass coverage, zone coverage, play recognition, stop the run, ect. that you need to have to be a well rounded LB.

I entirely disagree. We got a lot of sacks this season, but a lot of them came from just a few games. Other games, we didn't notch one. I think ozzie said it best in the press conference, "you can never have too many pass rushers."

We need another bookend to Terrell Suggs, and while i like Kruger, i'm not sure he's our long term solution. I really want to see King Serg though. He's got all the physical traits to be great, we just need to see if he's got the mental capacity (anymore) to nail down our playbook.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I was just saying that I believe that Kruger has the ability to rush the passer is good, but I'm not sure what he's like in the run game and if he has to drop back into coverage and other things. He had 5.5 sacks this season, not including the one he had of Tom Brady in the AFC championship game and any others that he may have had this postseason, but that is pretty clear to me that he has pass rushing ability. I'm not sure if he's an elite pash rusher.

It'll be hard to tell if he is an elite pass rusher until he receives the majority of the snaps. 5.5 sacks in limited time is great. If he receives the majority of the snaps next season who knows? Thats the only way to truly see how elite a pass rusher is.

Yeah, I wish Suggs had more moves like the spin moves and bull rush to add to his repertoire.

Ngata is a big run stuff and a serviceable pass rusher and Cody is just a space eater. However, I really hope we get a homerun pass rusher to keep defense honest. Double teaming Suggs answered a lot of problems for opposing offenses. Why can't Cam learn from that.

I don't know if I've ever seen Suggs use a spin, but he frequently bull rushes tackles.

As for a guy to collapse the pocket in the middle, ideally, that guy would be Haloti. Had he not so banged up this year, he would have definitely been more productive as a pass rusher.

We also run a 3-4 though, really hard to get push from a 3 man rush. Even with Ngata taking on a double team its still 3vs2. Pop Pernell in the gym this off season, get his strength and agility up, and he'll be a monster. We need a DE opposite McPhee, because Suggs does his best work as a stand up edge rusher/OLB.

Maybe we should sign Mathias in FA to help out for a few seasons.
“That’s once again the same people who told me I was too small, the same people who said I couldn’t win a Super Bowl with our offense, the same people who said I couldn’t play in a 3-4, … Are they with me when I get up every morning at 630 to go to work The day I lose a step is the day I lose love for the game.” - Ray Lewis.

I'm thinking of doing a spin off of this thread.... Big guy who can push the d line. I think with full off seasons the group we have will only get better and would be for mcphee starting or resigning Redding if contract isn't heavy. Is have to look at FAs to know who else is available though. We need major help on our o line though and think we should try and trade oher. If we could get a 4th I'd be happy. If we are going to redo the line should start here and let Reid start.

I still think that Kruger, Kindle, and McPhee are the answers to our pass rush. Kruger is developing every year. Kindle has the athleticism that we need to compliment Suggs on the other side. And McPhee is a physical presence. Getting a pass rush player from free agency costs a lot and we have enough expenses with Rice and Flacco getting new contracts. We really need one of those three to become a star pass rusher to compliment Suggs. I think that Kindle will be that player.
