Time for JJ to go. He is average. I think he is just another product of being around great players. Good at stopping the run, but he is slow, can't pass rush and we pay him too much to be average. Kruger has a lot of potential.

I agree 100%. He go anywhere else, he will be forgotten eventually being demoted to 3rd string or something. Don't get me wrong, he plays hard , works hard but even that won't cut it, you have to also perform well and 6 sacks in 2 years won't cut it and being able to seal the edge is great but the pass rushing aspect of a OLB is way more important.

JJ is so stout against the run and he has been very important for our D in that aspect ever since he took over the olb spot. Luckily, playing the run can be taught and I think kruger has all the tools he needs to be a great OLB in our D and IMO he will be better than JJ. Kruger has a relentless motor which is good and if he can learn how to set the edge this offseason, it will help us solve a lot of salary cap problems.

JJ's veteren leadership can not be overlooked. He was one of the veterens behind the whole playoff bye week practice schedule and IMO that was big in making sure our team was prepared against houston. But his hard work and veteren leadership isn't going to cut him the deal he wants since kruger has been developed for the past 3 seasons to take over JJ's spot. Lets face it though, if he's not a raven next year there are two teams for sure that will welcome him with open arms, the jets and the colts. He would be a starter for both teams

I think it will be hard to keep JJ- look for him to go to Colts.
Kruger is spotty at best- not always a dominate pass rusher and not very good against the pass.
Is Kindle even in the plans for Ravens next year. Need to give this guy a chance- will be better off with him if he can play up to his potential- better in coverage and pass rush
Really need to get a proven pash rusher in FA if they can- neither Kruger or Kindle is ready

If I had to choose, I would go with JJ. Dude is the best OLB in the entire NFL against the run. Also, he's actually above average in coverage too. He sucks at getting sacks, but actually gets a lot more pressures than you realize. Those pressures lead to incompletions and interceptions.

Kruger is a better pass rusher, but that's about it. As a strong size OLB, you're not going to blitz as much as the weakside backer anyway. That's only a fraction of your overall responsibilities.

100% agreed. It's a tough call that they are going to have to make because they do not seem interested in making financial investments in 30+ year old players anymore, but I'm just not sure that Kruger is going to be capable of holding up against the run anywhere near as well as JJ.

I'd be surprised if JJ ended up in Indy, unless they overwhelm him with an offer. He's looking for a ring and he's not going to see it in Indy (even if Manning returns as the old Manning). If the Ravens offer him a shorter term deal that is close in money to what others are offering, I would expect JJ to return.

It's just a question of what the Ravens might be willing to offer.

I think JJ is definitely gone, I think the Ravens will look to bring in another pass rusher

that or they really like Kruger, Kindle, or someone else on the team

the front office and coaches remain HIGH on Kindle...and they know more than i do..so who knows

Its because it's hard to believe that talent and production can simply vanish after a fall down the stairs. You can't give up on a guy who was so dominant in college and so scheme diverse until you know without a shadow of a doubt he can't play anymore.

I think with that serious of an injury you got to expect him to be out for well over a year..two years sounds right, the coaches said becauuse he lost hearing in one ear he has had to learn ways to get the calls and learn the playbook....that makes things tougher but can he overcome it? maybe....im not confident in him returning..i hope he does

Kruger if he can stop the run nearly effective as JJ on be an every down player. If not keep JJ for another year until Kruger is ready or get another solid outside linebacker.

Yup. A player like JJ ten years ago would be more valuable to a football team. But stopping the run is now second to pass rush. He doesn't have the athleticism that Kruger has, and I think that Kruger will continue to develop considering he came into the NFL extremely raw with only 2 years experience at defense. Kruger has shown flashes of improvement every year, and seems to have an incredible work ethic by his fundamental improvement.

Paying a guy as much as we pay JJ to just be a run stopping guy is just not a good choice. His leadership and run stopping ability is great, but we have plenty of leaders. In fact, I look at our team as a team that has a leader at every position. Ravens draft character so we won't miss a step if we lose a guy like JJ. We can only pay so many people. JJ is gone.

I like JJ and all but he is nowhere near the player he used to be. We need a linebacker that can bring that POP, on every play. Sadly he is not that guy anymore. Time to rebuild there.

Kruger will help the lack of speed in the D. JJ was as good as it gets in run support but we could get a similar support from Kruger and a better pass rush. I don't want to see JJ go, but logic says he will be gone...
