Webb is such an exceptional talent, I just want us to sign him long term. His play on the field progressed so much this season, I firmly believe he is one of the best cover corners in the NFL right now, and BY FAR the most underrated.

He is the one player that has soaked in everything Ed Reed has taught him, hes the Ball Hawk Junior. He studies film so much and you can see his intelligence on the field, none of his interceptions were luck. Every pick was him diagnosing the play, making the read and jumping the route. He stays healthy and continues to progress into his prime years the sky is the limit for this guy, he will lead the league in picks. Another key thing about him is hes a converted Safety .. So if we have to or when the day comes when can put him at Free Safety and he could be that next guy back there.
Agreed, and all this out of some kid from a no-name college of Nicholls State. McPhee came from a school that I can't even remember right now, and before that he was at community college. I like the people from the no-name universities more, because they seem to be more humble about their chance in the NFL. Webb is, at least. I love listening to him on the radio. He's a great guy. I think he wants to be a Raven, and I'm pretty confident we will get to see much more of 21. He is, after all, the number after 20...his teacher Ed Reed. Webb's got a good future with us. We could line him up anywhere in the secondary and he would ball. That's what I love about Webb.
Ozzie, please sign Marcus McNeil (LT). It's all I want for off-season. Thanks.

Ozzie Newsome understands the value of character when finding talent in a player, and that is why this organization has been very successful and we find good talent late in rounds. Through every interview ive seen or heard from Webby hes nothing but class. I know the whole organization knows this better then we do, I have zero doubt he will be a Raven for life. I just love watching the guy play, hes so dynamic on the field. Will be one of the most explosive ball hawks in the league for years.

He played nickel a lot this season.

Playing in the slot doesn't necessarily mean he's the 3rd-string corner, it means he matches up best against the slot receiver and gives him a great spot to try some CB-blitzes from. Charles Woodson plays a lot of nickel, too.

Of course Webb will still be matched out wide but the ability to play nickel-back is not bad.

Right, it's not a demotion by any means lol
...right?

Corners around the league hate playing slot because the receivers are usually quicker and work high percentage plays, also nickel corners can't use the sideline.
Which means you have to be, arguably, better than the guys on the outside.

Why the hell are any of you suggesting we put Webb at nickel? That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. The guy shut down nearly every receiver he played and got 8 picks in the process. He is easily the number 1 and putting him in the nickel spot would be stupid.

I don't care if Cary and Jimmy aren't fast enough to keep up with those slot receivers. Putting Webb there is a complete waste of talent.

Who said that, lol, that's pretty stupid. Webb should be covering the opposing teams #1 or #2 WR (depending on who that #2 is compared to the #1) of course every game.

I loved that interception in the NE game where he just knew the ball was over his head and he turned and jumped snatching the ball out of mid air then watching Tom Bradys disbelief. What was going through his head? Oh man another Reed i have to be mindful of? I cant throw anywhere now. Stomps Feet. LOL

Id love to see a good foxy/ jimmy combo with Webb in the slot... Throw in Cary... That's a freaking beastly secondary

It's about versatility and being multiple, this allows Webb to lign up all over the field. Not to mention, Webby is a fine outside guy and can play inside too... Not many who can do that currently, in the NFL. Webb is becoming a student of the game, with doing that he knows more then just being the "1" or "2" ...

Webb will go where the coaches think he will have the biggest impact. Just because most teams' nickel corner is a third stringer doesn't mean that your best corner should never be there. Maybe the 2 best slot receivers in the NFL are Wes Welker, and this year Victor Cruz. You want Cary Williams covering one of them if the Pats or Giants go 5 wide? Webb will play the opposition's best receiver, whoever that is.

One of Webbs best abilities is he can play anywhere in the secondary. I'm not saying keep him at nickel but him playing nickel has led to sacks(and I think an int in the AFC Championship). Play him where it works best for the defense but I get what your saying. I saw a bunch of people saying keep him in the slot but I say we just keep him on the best WR unless the play call requires otherwise.

Nickel is not an easy position to play. Webb is the best outside CB we have but he's also the best nickel CB we have. Plus he's the best pass-rushing CB on the roster, and we can only use that when he's lined up inside. Why would we keep him at one position all game when we're a team that uses disguises and multiple formations on defense?

Webb should be on the field at all times period. When we are in our nickle package it makes the most sense for webb to play in the nickle because he is the most versitile corner we have out of our top 3 (which is where he has been lining up more often than not in our nickle packages). Webb can play anywhere in the secondary and do anything he's asked to do but he's at his best when he is matched up against speedy shifty recievers who like to catch the ball in space. When jimmy progresses into a shutdown corner in his own right, he'll be matched up against the bigger more physical recievers while webb will be matched up with the speedy recievers.

Would Ben Grubbs make a better nickel since he's our 6th best player?

He probably wants Grubbs to play special teams. That makes as much sense as some of the other stuff floating around.

Why was this even started? Webb played phenomenal wide and in the slot. And TDubbs said it best. Sign him long term.

I believe Webb should be # 1 on our depth chart next season with Jimmy Smith # 2, but there is no shame in moving Webb around on the field to hide him. If we have him # 1, they will expect him to shutdown their # 1 WR, and then imagine if we switch it up. Move Jimmy over to where Webb usually is, put Carr where Jimmy is, make it look like Webb isn't on the field and they go to the slot WR, BAM! Webb interception! I do this on Madden a ton, I switch the Receivers and DBs around.

I see no problem with moving Webb around, playing either as the number one, number two or even in the slot. In fact I think that would be smart game planning to throw the other team off.

For what its worth, Charles Woodson of the Packers was the best corner they had since he's been there, but he also sees a few snaps at nickel.

yeah its okay if a CB can play a couple different positions

Webb used to be a Safety, he was the best player so they put him in the middle of the field and let him make plays
