It's Confirmed: Long Term Deal To Be Worked On With Joe Flacco

I would have to think that Joe would get at least what Ryan Fitzpatrick got with the Bills. And I believe most of us would agree that Flacco > Fitzpatrick. The Bills overpaid for Fitz in my opinion so Flacco should get at least that and his agent wouldn't be doing his job unless he tried to get more.

Fitzpatrick's contract extension: 6 years/$59 Million with $24 Million guaranteed.
Joe would be a steal at that price. No joke. We would be in excellent position to win if he signed a contract even close to that. I would love it.

I could argue why your counterpoints are invalid, but I've already accomplished what I set out to do; which is prove that your idea that Flacco would receive little to no attention from anyone other than the Ravens is false.

No you didnt lol

No one has confirmed that Tebow has the starting nod next season. All they've committed to is that he will be with the team. Not the same thing at all. Don't know about the rest, but I certainly see Elway jumping on a free agent QB like Flacco given half a chance.

I don't think Locker did all that well really. Besides, the Titans are looking for the "right now" (which is why they got Hasselback) so I could see them still being a "maybe".

Comeback Player of the Year or not, Smith is in his 7th season and done nothing. So one would have to conclude that this season was an anomaly. Besides, I watched him play more than once this season, Flacco would be a definite upgrade and I'm certain little brother Harbaugh is not stupid. Yes, I think the 49ers would jump in a heartbeat.

Did you read your own links?

"...going into training camp...."

Translated, means, we're bringing in competition if we can so get your act together. Much like I expect the Ravens to do with Cundiff.

I think it will be more than that (6 years/$59 Million) but I would hope they could settle for somewhere under $70 Million for 6 years.

Im sorry, but <I don't agree with that>

So if it states"Joe Flacco will be the Ravens' starting quarterback going into training camp".

Does that also translate into "were bringing in competition if we can so get your act together"?

Is that what the Ravens say? No. They say unequivocally Joe is our guy. Period. That is not the news out of Denver.

Sorry but I just gotta chime in, here. From the first article you posted:
"Well, right now as we look at it, we've got two quarterbacks under contract," Elway said, noting that practice squad QB Adam Weber signed a futures contract. "So, we've obviously got to be in the market to find some more quarterbacks."

Coach John Fox didn't rule out the return of Brady Quinn, who hasn't taken a single snap in his two seasons in Denver.

Selling a veteran quarterback on Denver might be difficult.

"Now, I think that anybody that comes in, a free agent, no matter what position, is going to believe they're going to come in and have a chance to compete," Elway said. "That's the thing. Anybody that comes in here, when we start training camp, is going to be competing for jobs. Obviously, with Tim's reputation, if the guy is afraid to come in here and compete for that job, then maybe it's not the right guy."
Sounds like they want competition at the QB spot. Tebow may be penciled in as the starter, going into TC, but that's as far as I've heard anyone from the Broncos go.

Dude, did you not know a few years ago Kyle Boller was our starter going into training camp? Flacco was supposed to hold a clipboard for a season or two. And then Boller got injured, Troy Smith got sick, and Flacco ended up being our starter.

So just because it says "starter going into training camp" doesn't mean Tebow will be the starter in Week 1.

Elway has made multiple comments about how he's not totally sold on Tebow yet. Saying someone will be the starter heading into a camp where there will be a competition for the starting job isn't much of a compliment. There's no doubt in my mind he'd take Flacco over Tebow.

Dude, just re-read what Ravensdfan posted earlier. She stated "No one has confirmed that Tim Tebow is starting nob next season". So I posted an article that literally states Tim Tebow will be a starter.

Yes, I know that there will be a competition in the QB roster. Does that mean Tim Tebow will eventually be replaced if he were to prove he is not worth starting as a Broncos eventually? Yes. But he is penciled in as a starter, yes?

You were making an argument that the Broncos would not give Joe Flacco a look.

Here is the difference:

Joe Flacco is the Ravens' starting QB. They are not looking at QB options, not looking for competition in Camp. If he is injured, sick or otherwise unable to play that is the ONLY way he does not start for this team in 2012.

Tim Tebow is "penciled" in going "into camp". They are looking at QB options, openly stated, not completely sold on Tebow, openly stated. The point was, if Flacco was a FA tomorrow, you can bet the Broncos would give him more than a look.

Just the fact that they openly state they are looking at QB options tells you that.

Someone has to be appointed the starter going in, and given what Tebow did this past season it has to be him. However, you're right, this does not guarantee anything. I'm sure the Broncos will make a decent attempt at Peyton Manning

I think you went a bit far the other way. You have to at least put him in a bit better price range than Cassel, Kolb and Fitzpatrick who are around 63M. 4 Straight years of at least 1 playoff win will carry some weight.

Those teams severely overpaid. Can't use stupid business moves as a proper gauge

I guess it would take Joe Flacco leaving for some fans to realize how good he is and what he does for us.
Good things that will never happen! :D

If Peyton is Healthy and the Colts get rid of him. It will be the worst move in N.F.L history bar non. I don't care who is up in the draft, they won't compare to Manning. I personally think if he is healthy and the Colts get rid of him, they will be (Colts) cursed. Could you imagine Manning playing for another team, i think that right there would be enough motivation for him to go to the superbowl and make the Colts hide from the media.

You know what would be funny? If Peyton came here to play for a $1 & got Baltimore a Super Bowl. That would be the biggest slap in Irsay's face I could ever imagine. I'd feel better about them moving our team, that's for sure. I really don't care anymore, though. I'm happy with Steve as the owner than Irsay. I'm so happy he doesn't own the Ravens.

Only reason i would love that, is Cam getting put in his place. And Manning would tell him what to do and NO ONE, not even Harbs. would say anything. i hope when Manning Retires, he would come here to be the O.C. If or should i say When the Colts get rid of him within the month, the COLTS will officially burn their Bridge with Him and he would not come back to be their O.C., i know i wouldn't (if they do its going to be really, really dumb if you ask me, healthy or not , they could work something out if he wasn't able to play next season). I don't think it would be about money with Manning if you ask me, He has made enough money playing football and endorsements that his Grand kids, grand kids would be set. lol hope that made sense.

Why is everyone riding this Peyton Manning train? Peyton could com here and have Boldin, Housh"meh"zadah and Evans drop the ball on him then you're back stuck paying for a QB when you could have just kept Flacco who's already been in this situation before. Just pay the most consistent and stable QB we've ever had here in Baltimore who is also young.

6 years 75 Million - 30 guranteed

Joe Flacco will bring you multiple rings, people. Just give him someone who can catch and tell Cam that the Go-Route isn't the only play in the play book. Or just give Flacco full reign of the offense since it'll be his, you know... 5th year.

I would agree. There's no question Rice is the better player, but Flacco is the reason we keep going to the playoffs. The Ravens had a better running back in Jamal Lewis, and couldn't get to the playoffs. The Vikings have a better running back in Adrian Peterson, and Steven Jackson of the Rams is at least as good, if not better, than Rice. But those two teams still consistently miss the playoffs. Barry Sanders was maybe the greatest RB of all time, and his lowest rushing total EVER in a season was like 1100 yards - he averaged 1500 yards rushing a year his career. Yet his team still only made the playoffs 5 times and won 1 game.
