It's Confirmed: Long Term Deal To Be Worked On With Joe Flacco

359 posts in this topic

I predict he gets 12mil/yr for 6yrs with 36 guaranteed. That's a total of 72mil. He will probably get big bonuses for making the playoffs & Super Bowl, too. I'd say bonuses of 500k per playoff game & 1mil for the Super Bowl.

Good call!

If having one $100M+ qb is good, then having two is even better, right??
Fly Fly Fly, dude I was using the Eagles as an example. I could have inserted any team in that slot. The overall point I was trying to make(dont know if you missed it or not or just chose to ignore it) was that despite what fans may think a guy is worth and what a team (ie the Redskins or Cowboys) are willing to pay are two completely different things. The Eagles giving Vick that crazy contract and the money Kevin Kolb got(crazy) is all the proof anyone can ever need.

Wow.

On the one extreme, we have people claiming the Eagles would offer Flacco $120M.

On the other extreme, we have this steaming pile of monkey feces that passes off as logic.
lol show me which eagles fan would offer flacco $120M.

He has one performance with 3TD this year (deju "Where are the Flacco's haters now?(Rams Version)"

Im kinda half laughing to the one person that assume 6 or 7 teams will be bidding in for Joe Flacco. Let me see which team is viable for another QB....(lets evalute)

Cardinals? Maybe, but they just signed Kevin Kolbs which panned out to be a bust. He (like Ravens) was formerly in a has-been great team that bid for him. Think they'll want to goto another FA? Nope.
Bills? Nope.
Miami? Maybe, but Matt Moore has done a servicable job. I know Henne is definately out. Flacco is viable, not sure if their fans would agree.
Patriots? Nope
Jets? Maybe
Bengals? Nope
Browns? Nope
Steelers? Nope
Texans? Nope
Colts? Nope
Jaguars? Maybe, they are in of a experienced QB. But considering the 'great performance' Joe Flacco showed vs them (zero completion for 3quarters), they wouldnt be too thrilled to give him any feasible offer.
Titans? Nope
Broncos? Nope
KC? Nope
Raiders? Nope
Chargers? Nope
Cowboys? Nope
Giants ? Nope
Eagles? Nope
Redskins? Maybe, but they had so far 3 busts QB as starters from FA. Think they'll go to Joe Flacco route instead of RGIII? nope.
Bears? Nope
Lions? Nope
Packers? Nope
Vikings? Nope
Falcons? Nope
Carolina? Nope
Saints? Nope
Bucs? Nope
Rams? Nope
9ers? Nope
Seahawks? Nope

Just look at the possibility of someone picking up Joe Flacco. Realistically, it is very slim.

The best possibility I would say is Miami. It might pull in for bid, just for the fact that they tried both FA(moore) and Draft(henne).

Joe Flacco stunk this year (lets be honest homers). He will get the Matt Schaub deal if he wants to get a contract this year. Flacco wants security not top money. He can shop if he wants to, but the market is thin.

Thats my analogy. I'd love to have him, he can get MUCH better. But the 'if' factor is huge for Flacco considering how inconsistant he has been this year. +70m/6year for flacco? Too much.

I honestly feel like you just went down the list and wrote "nope" for almost all teams.
Flacco is an upgrade versus the starting quarterbacks of the Bills, Cardinals, Dolphins, Jets, Browns, Colts (if manning leaves), Jaguars, Titans (Hasselback is getting old), Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders, Redskins, Vikings, Bucs (Freeman is young and upcoming, though), Rams, and Seahawks.

That's what I was thinking. A LOT of teams would bite at a Joe Flacco bait. Not even overrating him, at the very least he's an above average QB which is a lot more than some NFL starters could say.

I wonder with a long term contract if Joe will have more of a say about how things are done. The contract isn't only about the money it's also about the power. Franchise QB, most important position in the NFL, will give him tons of leeway.

You must know something no one else does, since you'd "love" to keep Joe, even though the rest of the league has "zero" interest in him.

It would be nice if it were true, would make things a lot easier with the deal. That big post of his was pure bull. Just this year a team gave away a former 1st round pick and a 2nd for a young QB who has proven squat and turned out to be a bust. Another team gave away a 1st and a 2nd for an over the hill, broken QB who has not played at a high level in years. This coming year someone is gonna overpay for an unproven QB with one 6 TD game against a bad defense in the most productive system in the league. Yet, he can't conceive that any team would be interested in a young, proven franchise QB who only won more games than any of his peers over the last 4 years.

I agree that the market would be slim because he hasn't exactly shown consistency or much control of an offense...but then again some team will over pay for Aaron Rodgers "pack" up like they did with Tom Bradys back up.

Which team would pay over 70 million for a QB that they don't know much about? Bills have a long term deal as do the Cardinals and Chiefs.

Dolphins a possibility but Flynn would do wonders working for his old offensive coordinator.

Ryan has grabbed our players before but too proud to take Flacco (and he isn't that much of an upgrade, Joe isn't exactly Peyton Manning...who will be out there as well)

Browns maybe. They will probably get RG3 though.

Colts will take Andrew Luck.

Jaguars too cheap.

Titans have Locker and Hasselbeck. Pass.

Joe Flacco "wins games". So does Tim Tebow and he is much cheaper. Pass.

Ha. Raiders have Jason Campbell and pulled Palmer out of retirement for 1st round pick. can you say pass?

Redskins need a QB. Plausible.

Vikings have Christian Ponder who was 1st in Redzone pass completions. They can build off of that and need help in other areas. Pass.

Freeman slumped...but not enough to be replaced with that contract.

Sam Bradford is there guy. They need money for their line!

Seahawks. I can see it.

While Joe has options, I don't see a single one of those teams paying more than us to obtain him. And hopefully so, we need Ozzie to control the negotiation talks the whole time.

Just say I agree with your hypothesis that he is better than the few you have mentioned. And NO, I did not just went down the list and said "nope" for almost all the team. If you actually evalute it for more than 1minute of each teams situation, it would be a common sense. So I thought it shouldnt even be listed in detail why. But here it goes.

Bills: They just signed Fitzy.
Cardinals: They just singed Kolb
Dolphins: maybe
Jets: maybe (all coach/GM/owner indicated they want sanchez back)
Browns: maybe
Colts: Andrew Luck/Manning (lol seriously?)
Jaguars: Like I mentioned before: like I said. Joe's performance vs them in 2011
Titans: 1st round draft jake locker & Hasselback.
Broncos: Timmy Tebow (all GM/Elway/Coach confirmed Tebow will be back)
Chiefs: signed Cassel long term
Raiders: signed Carson Palmer long term
Redskins: 3 FA busts (Mcnabb, Rex, Beck)
Vikings: Christian Ponder
Bucs: Freeman
Rams: Sam Bradford
Seahawks: Tavaris Jackson

So how realistic is it for them to pick Joe Flacco up with the situation each of those team are in?

I dont understand few people thought process. Sign Flacco to a reasonable deal, make space for caps for Ray Rice, Ladarius Webb, Ben Grubbs. Instead of putting us in hostage situation, forcing us to get rid of Rice/Webb or Grubbs. We are in a good time to lock up Joe Flacco in fair price. Sign him up for what Matt Schuab has got.

Bucs, Rams and Seahawks would jump so fast it would make your head spin. Just for starters. Palmer didn't really do so well with the Raders so I'd have to put them in the "maybe" category. Browns would definitely jump if they couldn't trade up or RGIII doesn't tall to them. The Redskins are another that would definitely jump. You can talk about their previous FA busts if you like, but they aren't really known to shy away from something just because it was a mistake before anyway, even when they should. You act like the Jags owners/FO just saw Flacco that game and that's it. These people aren't stupid. Jags would jump. Dolphins...eh, maybe. Jets, another maybe. They are all talking the talk but the vibe is they aren't sold on Sanchez. Vikings I believe would jump as well. Ponder did not perform that well other than a game here and there.

Hopefully, we can just state our opinions and we never get to find out who was right or wrong. I really don't want to jump on the QB carousel again.

Way too much of a contract. I don't see the Ravens making that kind of offer. That's an Eli type deal and that's AFTER he won a Superbowl.

6 years, 70M with 32M guaranteed would be my best guess.

yeah u better check what other QBs have made

Joe wins, bottom line and his agent will remind the Ravens $$$

he will get much money. to me there are only the following abs in the nfl that are better than him:
those are: tom brady, peyton manning (before the injury), AaronR., drew brees, Big Ben, and maybe eli(cause of the rings).

as you can see there are a lot of guys that are not as good as him but are paid very high like stafford, cassel, bradford, even fitzpatrik got a huge contract.

all in all he deserves a lot of money!!! he will be here longer than booths rays!!!

Actually I think he might have thrown a hissy fit after Flacco almost led us back in the AFCCG, and he knows that if he says anything remotely bad now he'll get fried. It's easy to criticize a guy after a bad game or when he is having a down season, but after he played one of the best games of his career under enormous pressure, I think even wizard1 knows not to start something. Besides, I think he might have had a coronary after they said that a long-term deal is being worked out with Joe.

lol @49ers being a 'definate' yes. Sure, they would can a comeback player of the year, and restart with Flacco long term. Sure makes sense to me.

Broncos GM/Coach/Elway all confirmed Tim Tebow is starting next year. I dont know how 'maybe' fits in there.

Titans drafted Jake Locker @ 1st round,#8 pick. His doing well. Hasselback was jake's mentor during college. But in flynismo's mind, they'd cann both and sign Flacco long term.

No one has confirmed that Tebow has the starting nod next season. All they've committed to is that he will be with the team. Not the same thing at all. Don't know about the rest, but I certainly see Elway jumping on a free agent QB like Flacco given half a chance.

I don't think Locker did all that well really. Besides, the Titans are looking for the "right now" (which is why they got Hasselback) so I could see them still being a "maybe".

Comeback Player of the Year or not, Smith is in his 7th season and done nothing. So one would have to conclude that this season was an anomaly. Besides, I watched him play more than once this season, Flacco would be a definite upgrade and I'm certain little brother Harbaugh is not stupid. Yes, I think the 49ers would jump in a heartbeat.

I could argue why your counterpoints are invalid, but I've already accomplished what I set out to do; which is prove that your idea that Flacco would receive little to no attention from anyone other than the Ravens is false.

I would have to think that Joe would get at least what Ryan Fitzpatrick got with the Bills. And I believe most of us would agree that Flacco > Fitzpatrick. The Bills overpaid for Fitz in my opinion so Flacco should get at least that and his agent wouldn't be doing his job unless he tried to get more.

Fitzpatrick's contract extension: 6 years/$59 Million with $24 Million guaranteed.
