I would agree with Ozzie here. I think its important that they look for wide receivers in the mold of Torrey Smith since they now know how effective a fast receiver can be in this offense. They key is NOT the 40 time but the 10 yard burst. Smith posted the fastest 10 yard burst of any receiver in the draft (I think) and that is what the Ravens should focus on. As for pass rushers I love what we have in McPhee and Kruger along with Suggs, but another couldn't hurt. Redding and JJ will both be gone so that slots McPhee and Kruger in those two spots. As for center it should be our first round pick unless Birk returns and with that first round pick if Konz is there you take him otherwise you pick up Dont'a Hightower instead at ILB and wait for the best available C in the 2nd round.

Here is a quick synopsis of potential players or the types of players the Ravens will and should be looking at in the draft:

Round 1 C - Peter Konz - Wisconsin
Round 2 ILB - Vontaze Burfict - Arizona
Round 3 WR - Joe Adams - Arkansas (also can function as an upgrade at PR)
Round 4 WR - Devier Posey - Ohio State
Round 5 DE - Jack Crawford - Penn State

Konz could still be there with our pick, so could Brufict but I very highly doubt either is available for our 2nd round pick

tank carder in the 6th round?? no chance, and we dont have a 4th. i like konz in the first and burfict in the second, with the third id rather go a taller WR, Streeter, quick, or someone like that

Carder is projected to go in the 6th round according to most draft report cards tho he could move up the board. I am very wary of tall lanky receivers like Streeter because the Ravens have shown an inability to develop the Justin Harper types I'd rather go with a mid sized speedster in the mold of Torrey Smith.

We need solid reliable pass rushers, not people that get to the qb just cause of scheme or blitzes being called. I feel with McPhee and Kruger most likely to be starting now that will instantly add to the pressure we get. If we could add another person to the d line who can get a rush I feel we will be just fine with Kindle hopefully taking over Krugers role from last year. One thing I hope we go after is a athletic and tall wr, something Joe has not really been able to work with yet. Doesn't need to be the fastest but some one with reliable hands that Joe feels he could just throw it up to. The o line is an obvious problem that needs to be worked on. If we could keep Grubbs that would be great but I doubt it. Won't know the cap situation til around March but some people with decent contracts will be let go opening up room. Also, Birk is set to retire which I think will save about 4.5 mil.

I've seen a lot of places rank burfict outside the top 64. As sensational as he is in highlights, he's very average on film and has some serious issues.

Honestly Watkins has better hands and route running.Athletically, they are the same in my opinion.

I think he's still in the top 5 @ LB. If there's a run on LB's I don't suspect he'll be available in the 2nd round.

As far as issues they said the same thing about Jimmy Smith and the Ravens still jumped at him in the 1st last draft. I haven't heard a word about him having any issues this year. I think sometimes the "issues" are over-blown.

Jimmy Smith and Vontaze Burfict aren't on the same thing. Jimmy Smith had no problems on the field, Burfict was one of the most penalized players in the pac12 last year.

I'm hoping we go after a pass rusher or a center in the first.

Suggs NEEDS someone across from him. We saw how he got taken out of the equation by teams as far as getting to the QB at the end of the year. I'm also hoping Konz falls.

tank carder will not see past the fourth round, if hes there when we pick in the third, watch us snap him up. dont take draft report cards as gospel. watch college games yourself, make your own judgements and rank the players as you see fit, not what the internet tells you too rank them as

yeah, I'm really not sure Carder even escapes the third.

Then again, this time last year, Jeremy Beal was flirting with 1st round status, and nearly went undrafted.

yup. they looked like the same player to me from their movement on the field, to body type...yet alone the dreads hanging out the helmet, haha.

i like smith...but at one point i was thinking i would try for watkins if possible. i could see watkins being a ravens type players...especially if he can run block well.

Regarding the o-line, if he gets waived and passes through waivers I would really like to see the Ravens take a look at Marcus McNeil. He has been injured, but he was once a Pro Bowl talent and I know that is also said about McKinnie but McNeil is 28. He may be able to make an impact here. If he comes relatively inexpensive and his injuries wouldn't be a problem, I would really like to have him here.

OL always go quicker than projected, it seems... it's sexier for the analysts to fawn over the skill positions, but everyone needs solid OL talent, and you have a huge barrier between first round caliber guys and those you could get in later rounds. With the exception of maybe one or two WR in each draft (both/all of whom will not fall this far), there's never a guarantee there--you HAVE to take the OL when you have pressing needs. We do.

Konz won't last into the second round and that's a solid answer at center. He's smart like Birk, powerful, quick, and a guy who has his head on straight--light years beyond most of his contemporaries, in fact. I like him as our pick, if he's available. Big IF.

As for WR, I think that can be sorted out in free agency. The number of guys available will hopefully drive some price tags down (since teams have other options), and to be honest, I think we're at the point where we need someone who we know what their skill set will be beforehand and we can plug and play. There are some decent mid-round guys coming out, but we don't need to miss on a bust there. We have enough young guys with "potential" like Doss who are sitting on the bench--don't need an early draft pick developing for two or three years. No way will a Blackmon or Jeffery be available, anyways. OL first round yes, another pass rusher early yes, and use a mid to late rounder for a kickoff return guy.

It's en vogue to blame it all on Cam, but I feel with better special teams, games would not have been nearly as tight as they were.
