We Should Cut Webb...

a check before he becomes a free agent. I think we need to lock him up before Grubbs due to the fact of how important he is to the future of the secondary. You can find lineman( I know not of that caliber) but someone who should be able to fill in nicely. We haven't had a corner with Webbs big play potential in a while. I can see him becoming one of the key defensive pieces of the future i.e a Suggs or Ngata.

In a passing league, a shutdown corner is more important then an interior linemen. We are going to have to back up the brinks truck to keep grubbs. I see him as a Redskin or maybe on a NFC west team. I can think of 10 teams who could use his services. Thats why i say let him go sign rice and get a reciever.

People have been going full [profanity deleted] with some of their thoughts. I figured I'd try and spin it in a positive way. But really though, we need to cut that bum Haloti Ngata. He's worthless to this defense and doesn't make anyone else's job easier. So what if he's a pro bowl player who eats up blockers... Where are his sacks or ints? Wilfork had 2. He's too old and contributes no other way.

Webb is truly the future of this defense. He has been the one who has mentored and soaked up everything he could from Ed Reed. We saw him grow into being a shutdown corner with big play potential this season. A young player of his caliber should not be under valued, his ball hawking potential is elite and he has proved it. With the NFL the way its been trending into a passing league having a player like him around is very valuable to the team. Especially when you have the ability to put him at Safety if needed or when the time comes. Above all else, he is of outstanding character in the Ravens mold, I want him here for life. I think it is crucial to lock him with a contract because he is only going to get better with time.

I'm hoping we sign him long term so I can retire my 20 with Ed when the time comes. 21 will be a nice replacement.

Webb is a Restricted Free Agent so he'll get a good paycheck for being given the highest tender. So essentially we don't have to pay him long term yet... and that will be good as it can leave us to try to sign Rice and Grubbs this year long term while worrying about Webb and Joe next off-season.

Its not an argument to me, Grubbs is an UFA and Webb is still restricted so we dont have to lock him up yet. Seems obvious to me.

Nice. I came in with the neg button at the ready, but I love it. And I agree. Shutdown corners are a must in this league now, and it wouldn't surprise me if next year we have one of the top cornerback tandems, if not the top tandem (yeah, I said it) in the league.
