Sometimes I'll argue something just to play devil's advocate, and to see how far I can run with it even if I really don't believe in it; but man, even the contrarian in me is saying, " smh! "

Minus emotions, Ill simply say that I dont believe that we even have an inside linebacker on our roster who is better than, let alone as good as, Ray, even at this point in his career. Including emotions, ill simply say... are you crazy, fool??

I think Ray still plays at a high level, even if he doesn't run as fast, his ability to recognize plays enables him to make up for some of that...he's a natural born leader and he makes everyone around him better, should he come out on 3rd downs? Sure...but who do we have that's better

Man, im going to get bashed for this one but what the heck. i dont care.

im gonna try and keep this short. im probably one of the few people who think this but i think we should trade him or let him go. now hear me out hes been great for this franchise but its time to let go. hey the 49ers got rid of joe montana and jerry rice, heck the packers had finally let go of Favre. Now im not sying this because we did so well without Ray for 4 games this year. Im saying this cause i had my heart set on him retiring after this season and he says hes coming is unacceptable to me and i feel its time to get rid of him and create new leaders on this team.

What do yall think and be honest.

he has slowed some-what in pass coverage, but he is still impregnable at stopping the run. That, too me, is invaluable. Besides, we won't need to depend on him as much at stopping pass/pass rush when players like Sergio Kindle get involved. On top of that, our secondary will be even better next year (remember, we were 4th in pass defense during the regular season). Ray's primary focus will be stopping the run and exploiting offenses (calling out to other players what he foresees). Having said all that, with a new Dcoordinator coming in i would certainly like Ray to be involved with him as he gets up to speed with where the defense, as a whole, left of this season. the pro's outweigh the cons.

look im not gonna sit here and give yall a list of FA that we should get. cause i dont want any of them but look i dont know whos gonna replace ray lewis, yall dont know, nor dose the franchise know who will. but ima say this you are never going to replace ray lewis, not even a guy like ed reed. heck the next lewis and reed type players may end up on a different team. but you kno what if anybody is gonna replace him its the guy that goes into trainig camp and says you i want to be great.thats the player that will replace him

oh yeah 79 more keep them coming

Pft, I want to be the next great MLB. But I'm 5'11 185 pounds and a white (soon to be) PE teacher. The want means jack all when you have no talent. People always say at the next level its the want that separates each player, the desire to be great. That's a crock of crap your high school coach told you to get you to work hard and cultivate the limited talent.

Players like Ellerbe and McClain have about 30% the talent Ray Lewis has, and McClain wants to be great. That will get McClain to be an above average MLB at best, not even an elite one in his own era.

Delusions is what you have if you think otherwise.

This thread is just wow me and shocked me how could a Ravens fan think of letting go a man, a legendary that brings love, heart, dedication, and souls to on and off the field to the Baltimore city?

-1, NO

PS: I hope Ray Lewis is not reading this......:(

Arian Foster had maturity issues at Tennessee. Which is why he was undrafted. He was also unfocused as a college player. He has never lacked talent. You can't build talent, its that simple.

not saying that we shouldnt keep him, but with him staying here, it doesnt allow anyone else to really step up and have a leader role.

I'm not gonna lie, I was kinda hoping in the back of my mind that Ray and Ed would retire after we win a Super Bowl so we could have the trophy and buku money in free agency to resign Rice, Flacco and Grubbs and have money left over for a big time WR. But we lost.

Because of this, we need Ray Ray, there's no way we can replace him. His instincts and preparation are unparallel in this league. He’s slowed down a bit, but makes up for it with knowing where the play is going. Plus he’s actually still faster than the average ILB in the NFL mind you. Ray being slow is one of those myths that the public has about the Baltimore Ravens.

But there isn't. Unless you count Burfict, who's going either in the 1st or 2nd round.
