He technically didn't say anything wrong. He said hes slower and not as good as covering TEs as he was, both true statements. He also says hes still good but just said HE thought he should retire. The thing is the knowledge and motivation he can provide a young player can go a long way. Not only that, its like having another coordinator on the field with him there.

Edit: Before you try to burn my at the cross, I feel he still has at least one more good year left and want him back if he will stay(though he's said he is staying). Maybe some of them are still <upset> about when he said he wanted to play for the Cowboys, I know I was. Realistically, people need to realize there is no replacement and see how helpful he will be to our team especially this year where I think they're will be a changing of the guard leader wise. By the way, if we could get Burfict under Lewis' wing I feel that would do wonders.

Maybe people want him gone for cap purposes and to see how the team will perform without him? Maybe to see which players step up, I don't know. I was hoping we could win it so Reed and Lewis could ride off into the sunset with their long sought after ring/second ring. The only reasons I wanted this was so that the deserving players could get theirs and it would clear up CRAZY CAP space.... BUT it didn't happen and I feel next year will be our year but this hinges on how much "control" Flacco really gets this season.

In all honesty, I thought that this was a joke when I saw that this post title was for real.

No. Personally, I think that Ray Lewis has earned the right to say when he stays or when he goes. He has earned that right. He alone knows his body, and I think that he has the integrity and the desire for team achievement that he will not put his own ambitions over that of the team. He commands the respect of so many people, not just on the Ravens but in the whole NFL, including the former greats (voted #1 NFL Any Era Team!) and Hall of Famers. There is no one like him and, at the very least, he should be around to try and mentor the LB that will take over the duty of minding the middle and plugging the run, i.e. the bare minimum of a LBs job

Terrible Idea. I have proven the "Ray can't cover" argument incorrect in my other threads (2 catches/22 yards per game given up).

i totally agree with you.he still can play and still is 1 of the best run stoppers and hitters.but his coverage skills..teams attack him that way and i just feel we need to draft a younger linebacker not a replacement..no one can replace him
