Colts fans seem to think it's a meh move. Steelers fans are ecstatic he's not their OC.

i dont understand, why not Hue????

im all for Caldwell though. He had alot to do with Mannings development. He taught Peyton to keep those feet moving

Caldwell is a better qb coach then Hue Jackson and he has more experience as a quaterback coach also more sucess. I Still hope hue jackson come here atleast to be the wide receiver coach

This is a great hire. Caldwell helped Manning move from being a very good QB to being elite.

He may have been average as a HC, but he is a very good position QB/wr coach that can help take Flacco to the next level.

What's his pedigree? I don't know how much of Peyton's success was due to him as opposed to Peyton and Tom Moore.

under Cladwell guidance peyton mannning became the first quarterback since steve young to have back to back seasons of a qb rating of 100

Personally, the hire doesnt phase me one way or another. However, I like the fact that we now have a QB coach who could be the voice to let the management know Cam is preventing Joe's growth.

i wanted Joe to have a QB coach no matter what, if the OC happens to be that guy or not its fine with me...QBs can use all the film study and the general studying of defenses and how to play best against the various formations, fronts, etc

QB school should be a part of every team

Great move (if it happens). I remember Flacco saying in some article a couple years back that he always idolized Peyton. Joe will appreciate this i am sure

Explain this. IMO DCs in Baltimore are interchangeable. it is the O that has a young leader that need tutelage.

Perhaps he's coming here to help develop our passing game by working with WRs and QBs. That's something I've felt we really need.

ESPN has picked up on the story too. Still no confirmation on which position, but they are guessing QB Coach too.

DC's are not interchangeable in baltimore. Our players are just so good it seems that way on that side of the ball but clearly there are coordinators who get more out of our players than others.

Look at a few we had

Ryan - we did great with him. 2006 was one of the best D's this franchise had.
Mattison - we set a franchise record in lowest sack total
Pagano- led the league in sacks and arguably one of the best defense we have ever had. This was pretty close to those 2000,2006 defenses especially in the beginning of the season.

I mean if we are going by the odds, our next coordinator shouldn't be that great. (not a knock on Pees or anything just goin by the numbers.)

Also Caldwell as a qb coach wouldnt affect the playcalling so much. I doubt he would have much influence over Cameron. If you wanted help offensively, Caldwell isn't horrible, but without Manning he was 2-14 and arguably the Texans gave him one win since they couldnt improve their playoff spot at that point. As offensive help, its up in the air how helpful he would be. I think he will do well as a qb coach because he did help develop Peyton, but between him and Pagano as our D coordinator, Id rather have Pagano. Pagano was unpredictable, confused defense, and as demonstrated in our NE game, had the D play in a very very disciplined fasion. We gave brady no info and didn't jump on anything. Thats tough to replace.

i think its a good move, we needed something..

I just question or decision makers in our office, whoever it is... we fire our QB coach last year because to many people in joes ear. and becuase they wanted cam to develop joe...

We've talked about this since the end of the season, and we believe this will help improve our offense," said Harbaugh. "Cam is noted for his development of quarterbacks and that includes Joe Flacco and Pro Bowl players like Drew Brees and Philip Rivers. Cam is excited about this change and is looking forward to it."

Now cam is not good enough and so they hire another QB coah...

Wonder who made the decision to fire zorn initially, and who now is making the decision to hire a new QB coach. They made a mess of this situation

it doesnt matter that we had the lowest sacks last year, we where still a top 10 in points allowed defense, (not sure of the excat posistion) his defense wasnt pretty, but it didnt let up points, thats all that matters at the end of the day

I dont know why the ravens fired Jim Zorn but he was coming from a different offense philosophy(west coast offense) and it was said that his philosophy was bumping heads with Cam Cameron philosophy(Air corydell offense) but there were other reports that he wasn't working with the staff together like he should and did most of his work on his own. The ravens had to give Cam Cameron the qb coaching job because there was no other qb coach qualified at the time after the lock out ended

http://www.pro-footb...ms/nwe/2011.htm well if this is right NE who had a horrible regular season D, was avg in points allowed ranking 15th giving up about 21 a game. Apparently their D wasn't pretty but it only bent and didnt break. I don't think one coordinator having immense success with a defense while another just allows it to bend and not break is a fair comparison to say they are interchangeable.
