I started thinking about this Caldwell acquisition today & thought of it beyond just Joe. Caldwell should do great for Flacco & his development, but what about Tyrod Taylor? Perhaps Caldwell improves Taylor as well so that we can use him as trade bait when some of these teams realize they don't have their guy. If we could make Taylor look good in some garbage time like Flynn did we could get value for him next year or the year after.

Just a thought.

Well, it worked for the Pats and Matt Cassel, so who knows?

Read this in Peter King's MMQB:

4. Baltimore (13-5). Listen to Tony Dungy talk about Jim Caldwell's ability to erase mistakes from quarterback play, and you'll be convinced that Joe Flacco is in very good hands with his new quarterback coach.

What I'm hoping in addition to Caldwell teaching Joe is that having "less responsibility" will make Cam Cameron a better play-caller. He calls good things on occasion, but he's a terrible situational play-caller IMO. And hopefully he realizes at some point that it is legal to have 4 and 5 WR sets on the field.

They can't do this as a team because Flacco would get crushed. Our O-line could not hold up with 5 receiver sets. It seems the team always has to max protect because the O-line in my opinion is terrible, that's why you can't go 4 and 5 wide. It's probably why our offense is so vanilla as well.

We could go 4 wide if we sent our WR on short routes were Flacco gets the ball out quick before the pressure can hope to get to him. That's how Brady & Brees do it. But we don't do that for whatever reason(s).

We really don't seem to do anything scheme-wise usually to help out the O-line when it struggles.

Just keep hammering that square peg harder and harder in a vain effort to force it to fit in that round hole.

This makes the retaining of Cameron a little easier to take. I understand we'll have to wade through another season full of ill timed playcalls, lack of imagination in the game plan, virtually no crossing patterns , no halftime adjustments, no stacked recievers to confuse the defense, literally no motion unless it's a run play and a whole host of other high school offensive mentality we're subjected to on a weekly basis but sooner or later the sand will run out of Cam's hourglass with this organization.

Atleast there's a guy inhouse that can take over the offense when Cam is let go.
Harbaugh has the credibility of a politician in my opinion after his glowing reports about Cameron.

Well the FO talked about fixing the o-line as a priority in the offseason, so hopefully next year we will be able to run 4 and 5 WR sets.
