Peyton Manning

Hear me out first, the colts having the number 1 pick, probably getting a QB, there is a good chance Peyton Manning will be a FA, is there even the slightest possibility Ozzie might get him? if so how would you feel about it?

The only way we sign Peyton is if he retires and decides to become a QB coach. He won't be playing here. We never sign big name free agents. We're cheap that way, which allows us to keep our core players.

What would the point be? We have our franchise quarterback. Were not going to go out and pay a bunch of money for Peyton to have him play 1-3 years and retire. He's the greatest of all time, but he's not a good fit here as much as I like him. We have Joe, and were not going to let a franchise QB go for a stopgap. Paying both of them would be both impossible and insane. Unless, as people have stated, he becomes a QB coach, then we won't see him in Baltimore.

not a chance. Here is why

1. If we trade for Peyton we would have to give up multiple picks and pick up a 28 million dollar contract. cap room we don't have
2. If he becomes a FA, we still dont have the cap room to sign him
3. We have too many resignings as it is taking up cap space
4. Flacco is due for an extension either this year or a new contract next year, even if we got peyton somehow we'd have to let Flacco go which isn't worth it.

I would love to have Peyton here to tutor Flacco as a qb coach or even if somehow we just put him on the roster, but it will never ever happen

I thought we wouldn't have to give up any picks since he's just getting let go, anyways tho if peyton became QB we would win a superbowl no doubt, we have too many weapons on offense, i would trade flacco for 3 years of manning any day.

As crazy as it sounds, Peyton would be the one person to tell Cam off and call his own game.

But yeah, we're not getting Manning, nor do we need him. Flacco is our franchise QB, and maybe Cam will be fired within the next ten years so he can show it.

Peyton manning really? Peytonmanning? Is there one player in this league that we wouldn't create a thread for? Peyton manning is probably one of the last players in the entire league we would sign....

Okay, first off, it's Peyton. Who is coming off a very very serious injury. Even before the injury, Peyton would NEVER want to come play in the AFCN. He is used to protection as well. Between all our 4 teams, I'm not sure we could put together the O line Peyton is used to having.

Peyton is never coming to play for any team in the AFCN. Especially now with the injury. It isn't happening.

Now. If he retires and is interested in a QB Coach gig, I'm not opposed to that.

Manning is old. So if we need one ring go for it. The only way we will have success is if we trade Flacco, Rice, and Suggs for the number one pick, and Manning. We would get worse. I agree, we would get better with Manning, but we would need to keep Flacco so we are prepared for the future.

We can't afford him, not with all the guys we need to resign. Joe will want out if we do this and then we are back at square one.

It would be like if the Packers brought Favre back.

Yeah. That will help Flacco's progression... sitting on the bench. Noway. We sign him, he retires, then we spend 10 more years looking for a QB.

Theres no chance, and you saw what happened in Denver when then-coach Josh McDaniels already had Jay Cutler yet started getting a little too curious about Matt Cassel. Flacco is already touchy enough about what people think of him without adding that circus to the equation.

I posted this in another thread but it fits here better. If Peyton becomes a QB coach he would most likely stay and coach in Indy. He would be able to put his stamp on the rookie they would have drafted to replace him. His name alone puts people in the seats at Indy.

i will refrain from violating the coc in terms of personal attacks lol. this is the most idiotic post I have ever read. Joe can get us there, hes has gotten us there. We would be there if.....Boldin or Housh holds on to the ball last year and Evans holds on to the ball this year. Joe cannot make the receivers catch the ball. He can only make them catchable. BTW All three of those drops, Flacco put them center mass. Either in the chest or bread basket. We dont need Peyton Manning to make those throws. He could tutor Joe whilst riding the bench or be a QB coach.

If you wanna trade Joe away, who do you suggest takes the reigns as our QB once Peyton hangs them up or gets permanently injured on almost any hit that could happen with his neck, god forbid? I'll answer that for you. In your world 3 "Superbowl Apperances" with him and then he retires. We are looking at a low first or second round talent to fill those shoes, meaning he has to learn everything all over again as a rookie. We sacrifice our future for three years of something we already have in Joe. That to me, is just completely senseless

I am appalled at this post. This is embarassing.

Sizzle, are you completely insane? Have you lost your mind? Did you think this through?

He's already been very vocal in his displeasure at how things are going down in Indy. So while normally I might say this would be the case, somehow I don't think so at this point.

No way Peyton is coming here...As far as Flacco goes, I have no real problem with Flacco at the helm, I just wish I could see some fire in him while running that offense, of course when you have Cam calling the same BS plays every series that are hit 7 mis, I can see why Joe would be so glum in the huddle.
Flacco will get is there again next year - with better utilization of weapons that we have already in there - Rice, Boldin, Smith, Dickson, Pitta who knows who will be our other receivers next year, I'd like to see Evans get the chance to come back and redeem himself - but at what costs?
Cam needs to open it up - week in and week out be more diverse, allow Flacco the right to audible to better options - and Flacco needs to intensify as a leader.
BUT WE DO NOT NEED OR WANT PEYTON !

If Manning 10yr younger, I would take him, but he belongs to the elder league now.

We need to offer Joe contract extension now which might be cheaper.

I totally agree with this; I hope Cam with his new contract extention needs to open up more option; not either deep, short, or run pass. Options like changing playcallings like 3-4 new playcallings with 3-4 sub options since Cam stated audible is overrated.

Okay Joe Flacco is no Peyton Manning nor will ever be in his league, but come on now. If Peyton was 30 I would say no-brainer, trade a good stable of future picks including Joe to get him. We would be assured a few SB rings guaranteed! At 36 with a nerve regrowth problem with his neck and Joe improving I say Ngata chance!

So let me see if I understand this. We should get rid of our franchise quarterback who is as tough as nails and hasn't missed a game ever in place of a quarterback who will come with a hefty price tag, who also has a serious liability with his neck issue coming to an offense system that is differnt then the one he had in indy?. Call me crazy, but I think I will stick with Joe.

Ya if its Peyton when he's 28 without 4 neck surgeries. How much does Baltimore really want to piss Flacco off? I mean really, finally get a franchise QB after going 12 years with total trash outside of Testaverde when he was 68 years old and we just treat Flacco like total trash.

No way. The organization believes in Flacco and it would cost way too much for us. This is almost as ridiculous as the idea of Brett Favre coming to Baltimore.
