Pitta > Dickson

85 posts in this topic

The way I see it is we to utilize them both. Pitta should be in on no huddle. Dickson should be in on play action. They should both be in when Flacco goes deep. Dickson is better potentially. If I had to pick for right now, it would be Pitta. But no one is better than the other. We need to operate as a team

I think that both of them are very important to our offense, and if we use them both it can be effective. As the talking heads liked to say this year, it is the time of the TEs. That being said, I think Pitta is the better player.
I would like to see Pitta over Dickson about 65/35% of the time.
Unless we could utilize our TEs like the Pats do.
Not under Cam my friend. Sadly...

Not gonna lie. I was more nervous ,when Pittas hand got injured than when Dickson was out. Dennis hand eye coordination is off the charts and as Ed proves it, you have to catch the ball to make plays. There are too many players with questionable hands on our roster, we need to get the most surehanded guy on our roster as much playtime as possible, if we are going to take chances with our WR. I am all for Dennis Pitta becoming our 1# TE.

Dickson is also a key part of our offense, he offers speed the TE position. Sure he did drop some balls but he saved us on alot of 3rd downs too.

With decisions to be made at so many other positions (o-line, backup receivers, safeties, running backs, cornerbacks, olb, Taylor and/or Painter and, until yesterday, kicker), this is definitely the issue which concerns me the least. I'm really happy with both of these guys and have no problem with either of them being out there. Frankly, I'm amazed that we have two tight ends with so much talent. I'm looking forward to having them on the field with the great receivers, running backs who can catch and a no huddle offense this season.

Idk, maybe every snap they are in on a run play. Maybe this is why our stretches and perimeter runs didn't work. :)

They are different TE's IMO. I like them both and what they bring.

Pitta is more of your Heap TE with a knack for getting open and great hands.

Dickson is more athletic and brings more speed.

Both are great and this season should be a fun one with both of them.

Dickson seems to be the more well rounded TE, but Joe and Dennis seem to have good chemistry. Every time I start thinking of this offense I get excited. A lot of play makers all over the offense.

Pittas a worse blocker, and that is a pretty serious issue considering Dickson isn't great in that regard.

In our Hurry Up offense its not as important as it used to be. As long as either of the two catch the ball we'll be fine. It seems we will be doing the hurry up much more now.

I like pitta better but it's tough to really say one is better than the other.

Dicksons got more upside with more athleticism, and he's better after the catch. Pitta catches everything. Dickson is always a threat for a big play and pitta finds a hole in coverage for that needed 3rd down conversion or touchdown.

Who's better? Don't know, I'm just glad were lucky enough to have both because together they're dangerous.

I think Bajema looked really good against the Jags. Nice pick up

I would say we put Pitta in as the #1 tight end on the depth chart, and play him the most. I would still like to see Dickson a lot, because he is just too good a player to be left sitting on the bench.
But when the chips are down, and you need a play to be made, you should look to Pitta first.

Without a doubt, Pitta, but I do like the skills Dickson brings to the table. Dickson has had his share of nice plays, can't just look at his drops.

PS- Bajama is the better blocker of the three!

I still don't know how unlucky we are in 2010 Draft.

Round 2 42 New England Patriots Rob Gronkowski[sup]†[/sup]
Round 2 43 Baltimore Ravens Sergio Kindle

Round 4 113 New England Patriots Aaron Hernandez[sup]†[/sup]
Round 4 114 Baltimore Ravens Dennis Pitta
Not sure whether Gronk and Hernandez were on our draft board if not selected by NE.

Don't get me wrong. Dickson and Pitta are good but not the same league as Gronk and Aaron.

This is such an old thread....but they both have their strengths. Dickson has more speed and Pitta has better hands and he's Joe's bff. Dickson was making efforts to develop more chemistry with Joe and if he does it could pay off.

And Lazarus strikes again! Seriously, both of these guys were big for us last year, and when they come back are going to be even more important this year.
