Pitta > Dickson

85 posts in this topic

Can Pitta be crowned the #1 TE for the upcomming season? He is "clutch", Dickson is.. not.

Obviously Dickson as most say, he bigger play potential.

BUT.. our offense is not built on big play potential. We need Pitta to be there for all those 3rd-and 6 's that we often see.

Do we still, as fans, see Dickson/Pitta as a 2 TE tandom, or has Pitta elevated himself among the coaches for the staring role?

Pitta should start. Would like him to work on his blocking but Joe is more comfortable with him I feel and thats what matters.

I would like to see Pitta over Dickson about 65/35% of the time.
Unless we could utilize our TEs like the Pats do.

Pitta and Dickson are both nice young TE's , Pitta is consistent... That's what's appealing about him. Pitta is still a better blocker, IMO !

In my opinion they are two completely different tight ends with very different strengths. Dickson is obviously much faster and stronger than Pitta but i was surprised with how bad his hand were this year, especially after seeing him make catches like the one against pitt. in week one. im hoping he will work on that, as his upside is tremendous. And the white tight end, as Sizzle would say is clutch, definitely came through for us towards the second half of the season. Cant wait to watch to watch these young tight ends develop.

Only time I really want to see Pitta over Dickson is on third down when we need need to pass. His hands are just much more consistent. Anyway, I'm sure the drops on all counts WR included will be fixed in the off season and that Dickson will break out next year.

Pitta is 1A and Dickson is 1B .... Both are very good TEs. I prefer Pitta because his hands are just absolutely incredible, but Dickson is the better athlete no doubt. In the new NFL era were TEs are all of a sudden major contributors, I thank Ozzie for having the vision for drafting us a pair of studs who will be going into to their 3rd year with Flacco.

I really want to use both of them. We may not have the greatest WR core, but we can make up for that with such a great TE tandem, just like the Patriots do.

The white tight end baby he's always there when you need em...( in my sizzle voice) I still feel ed has more demons to conquer to be even named with pitta after the way pitta closed out the season....clutch......ed drpped the ball literally

Pitta reminds me a lot of Heap. Dependable. And thats what Flacco needs. Dickson seemed to drop everything in the last few games. I'd much rather see more of Pitta, but i'm sure we will see both.

dickson just needs to work on his hands

Either you have good hands or you don't, Dickson doesn't.

Pitta needs to be starting and the offense needs to shift more to three wide sets, getting Dickson out of the game more. Unless Dickson gets a lot better during the off-season, we can't run what the Patriots run. Gronk and Hernandez both can catch consistently, and the only TE we have that can do that is Pitta. He needs to be the one starting.

Well in all seriousness Pitta did outperform Dickson at critical junctures. However, if Pitta practiced better than Dickson he would already have been ahead of Dickson in the depth chart, but he perhaps is not as versatile as Dickson is... so let us see how the OTAs' and TC play out and maybe Pitta will be our first TE!

Draft position plays a huge role in the pecking order. When NT Brandon McKinney had a standout year in 2010-11 we repaid him by reducing his role and burying him on the depth chart in favor of Terrance Cody.

While your point is well taken, Webb would not be our primary corner if your logic were to be true in all cases...

Dude, all you need to do is take Dickson through the WR drills, and you can add 7 points to his hands. Which would bring it up to 63 lmao.

Madden reference, for the non-gamers

He only started as a rookie because Rolle and Washington were injured.

I wish it was that easy, imagine Dickson, Rice, Boldin, Torrey and Evans with +7 catching LOL.

I loved Dickson in the 2010 class, he was my favourite non-1st round TE (I liked Gresham and Gronkowski more) but I'm ready to admit that Pitta's much, much better at this point in time. It's not surprising, though, since Pitta is 27 this June meaning he's in his prime. Dickson's only 25 this year.

But I want it to be build around big play potential. That is what we have lacked for so many years until we got Torrey. (he should have had a couple of 100 more yards and maybe 5 more TDs, if him and Joe were on the same page)
I don't really know who i would start, i love both of them. Probably leaning towards Dickson.

Duuuuude, I miss the mid week training you could do in Madden. Ray Ray was definitely boosting his speed into the high 80s low 90s before he retired hahah.

Gronk was not a 1st round pick. He was picked one spot before Dickson. And Hernandez was picked one spot before Pitta (if I remember correctly)

I think the only reason Pitta looks better is because of the chemistry between him and Flacco. They're best friends and they're always the first guys out on the field warming up, running routes, etc...

Dickson already said he's going to be their 3rd wheel this offseason, that plus a full training camp to work with Joe I think we are going to see Dickson on that all-star level next year.
800-1200 yrds 12+ TDs

I love Pitta though, more 2 TE sets please.
