HA, this is great. Pagano spanked his offense twice and he still hired him?

What is Hue Jackson up to? Chillin', making money off of the contract he signed with the Raiders? It'd be a trip if Jackson came back to the Ravens as a QB coach - one can dream.

Why the hell did Pagano hire Arians to run his offense?

May as well hire Cam.

My Madden playcalling = Upgrade from Cam

Lol but seriously, i think maybe the world is coming to an end. Steelers OC and our DC uniting in Indy. Crazy.

Pretty funny... Ravens & Steelers coach working together.
Another note... it was rumored to be Hue... wonder why it isn't... but maybe now he can at least be Joe's QB coach again?

I thought Arians was supposed to be retiring? Whatever, if Peyton's back, he is the real OC of that team - unless they trade him and go with Luck, though if Manning's healthy maybe they trade the pick or draft Luck and then trade him.

Steelers fans would disagree.
[/quote]
I'm looking at this objectively.

Steeler fans can't name 1 thing Arians does worse than Cam. In fact Arians still has had viable passing attacks. And hes done it with all types of different WR corps.

Because Cam and John are buddies. Bruce Arians was just picked to replace Ken Wisenhunt after Wisenhunt became HC of the Cardinals. That's the way they do it in Pittsburgh - the ownership there hates hiring and firing coaches, there have been three since the merger - Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher, and Mike Tomlin. That's it, in 40 years. If John wanted Cam gone, he'd be gone - not to mention it seems like the front office either A) wants Cam to stay, or B. doesn't want to usurp John's authority at this point.

The only reason Arians said he was going to retire was because the Rooneys ran him out of town. I'm glad the Colts gave him a fresh opportunity. He would have retired had he not received any offers.

Two Super Bowl wins in 3 appearances (1 win as OC, 1 as WR Coach)... helped develop Big Ben into a perennial Pro Bowler... what's not to like?

The head coach definitely has a say in who his OC is.

Pagano is trying to hire Keith Butler, the Steelers LB coach to become his DC.

Well at least we aren't the only team in the AFC North that's getting raided for our coaches this off season.

About time the Steelers get raided for coaches. I don't know how they hadn't lost coaches before this. So I guess this means the Colts are going to a 3-4 next season.

See guys.. no hard feelings from Chuck about all this. He is just helping us by taking some of the Steelers coaches, Now I feel much better about Chuck going to Indy. If he doesn't go to Indy, the Steelers probably keep these guys.

Thanks Chuck!

Only complaint I have of him so far is the fact that he didn't go after Cam as his OC..... Cam would've made an excellent OC for that team.. NOT

With the Colts hiring one Ravens coach and two Steelers coaches so far, does anyone get the feeling that they're hoping they can build some sort of clone of our teams?

Even if they're trying to, it's going to take years to accomplish anything, since the Colts don't have the players that are playing at that level!

Very true, plus they have always been a 4-3 team and if they just hired the Steelers LB coach, this means they must be getting ready to run the 3-4. They have no players suited for the 3-4 as everyone is suited for the 4-3, so after they take Andrew Luck, they have to spend the rest of the Draft trying to find 3-4 players to fit the system.

It'll take longer than Rex Ryan took for building the Jets into a poor man's version of our team and the Steelers team. The Jets team wasn't great, or even good, at the time Ryan took over, but they were much better than 2-14, and had a rounded team. Ryan just instilled a B.A. mindset into the team, and players (at the time) wanted to play hard for him, so they used every bit of their talent and played hard nosed football.

The Colts, on the other hand, do not have a rounded team, at all. Heck, without Manning, they have an abysmal offense, as noted last year. Their defense is aging (Freeney/Mathis/Brackett) and are not meant to play in a 3-4 system, so major gutting will have be undertaken if a 3-4 D is the wish (which I believe will be). We're talking Wade Phillips-Texans D type gutting, except the Texans had some pretty solid/young players throughout the defense, and they drafted well, so all that had to be done was a transition process.

The Colts will take years to get there, if they ever do. Just a mess building your whole team around one player, and watching that player crumble with injuries and eventually getting cut. Sets your franchise back at least a few years because of the transition process, especially if there are no other stars/solid players on the team to speak of. Freeney/Mathis are solid, but they will not be in a 3-4 because they aren't built that way, and are in their last few years of playing. Once you reach 30 as a DL, you start gradually declining in skills because of all the wear and tear they endure during the season from clashing against OL.

I think they're building a model after the AFCN, just like the Texans did.

Now is the time for them to make the switch to the 3-4. Mathis likely won't be returning, Manning likely won't be returning (saving a huge amount of money).

Most definitely. We've seen Harbaugh hand-pick his staff. What's funny is that Tomlin reportedly wanted to keep Arians but Rooney overrode him and told Arians to take a hike. Ouch...
