Flacco Drawing Grief For Cancelling Polar Bear Plunge Appearance

82 posts in this topic

I don't care what the cause, but only fools jump into freezing water in the dead of winter. Its a stupid outing and pointless. Flacco will probably write a check, but I don't blame him for canceling.

It might be time for Flacco to weigh options after this coming season. I know I would leave.

I can not believe he is getting crap for this. The way the media and fans in this town have treated him I would not be surprised if next year is his last year here. The guy is human and how many here could take all the abuse he takes? Had we won he would not have been there but that's ok smh

Joe just can't do anything right in your eyes, can he?

If the man needs time for himself and his own family, let him have it. And if anyone is really that concerned about it, maybe one of you guys can go volunteer to sub in for Joe?
It was poorly handled and i think he just isn't over the loss, and doesn't wanna be around media.

lol yeah, joe can't do anything right in my eyes. thats the reason... my eyes are brown, not purple.

i would of called anyone out for not going to such an event because it means so much to the special needs children that do attend.

I agree, ppl need to face the reality; we have a winning QB, not a flashy one. What more do you want? like dreaming to have Rodgers and Mannings?

We fans need to come together and support your own QB, not disshing him; diss the opposing team...

This has nothing to do with his performance on the field. It has everything to do with obligations and cancelling them off the field. Yeah, it can be considered not a big deal to us because we aren't young children, but it's a let down and was handled poorly.

Did any of the offensive line man go? I think Yanda and Adam terry used to go.

Who the hell is Mickey Cuchella? Is he a role model to children?

Again not calling out Joe but it was poorly done by any celebrity to back out of an event due to losing a game.

Cuchella is a comedian and I think a radio personality.

Flacco does plenty of stuff for the Special Olympics, including going to their summer games. The event is bigger than Joe Flacco.

Your eyes are brown alright, lol ... (sorry, but you know...)

What about Flacco's needs? His wife's needs? Does jumping in some water for charity take precedence over his own needs?

He does the 98 rock morning show and did a lot of advertising for it. I believe 98 Rock is a sponsor of the plunge.

In my opinion... get over it. I mean dang! Let him be his own person. Did any of you guys do the plunge?

Poor Joe. Guy takes heat no matter what he does.

For everyone jumping on him for missing this event, I didn't see anyone singing his praises all the times he DID go.

We have no idea exactly why he had to cancel either.

He is a morning show DJ at 98ROCK. Kinda a celebrity in his own right.

We are stretching things here. The plunge is not about Flacco. I doubt any kids are going to be scared muchless broken hearted is Joe doesnt show up. Kids, or people in general dont go to the plunge because Flacco is going to be there.

No doubt it is bigger than him but it is just disappointing to those kids that their hometown hero won't be apart of it. I'm sure he will be there next year.

Joe's position as the franchise QB for an elite team is going to create a lot of scrutiny and excitement with the media, fans and public in general. It goes with the territory. His reason(s) for not attending the event are his own and he'll have to deal with the fallout. A reputable Public Relations agent would be the perfect buffer between him and the media.

Doubt it since we cleared out the lockers and they are on vacation.

And Cams game plan is not a pamphlet. A pamphlet implies it opens up. It is more of a memo or sticky note, or x's and o's on a bar napkin .

That's because both of those guys are used to their season ending a month before now.

I can't say I blame him. If I was his PR consultant I would have advised him to pull out of the event to avoid a PR diaster in relation to the news of Cam's contract renewal. Smart move Joe. I am pretty sure Joe will do something to make up for his absence as this is one of his favorite charties.

I'm sure he gives plenty of his money that he earns to charity. I hate the idea of people complaining that someone doesn't do enough. It's all his choice, just be thankful that he spends time doing these things in general. He doesn't owe you anything, he pays taxes on his earnings.

Yep, because they always have 2-3 weeks of "downtime" between the end of their seasons and the Polar Bear Plunge.
