This Is The Time Where Ravens Makes Good Decisions

19 posts in this topic

I think its about time that Ravens as a whole get back into rhythm after the AFC championship loss.

We were an inch away from getting into Superbowl. We beat the patriots in almost every single phase of the game (The QB, The Defense, The yards allowed, The yards gained, The time in field, etc). We just happen to run into a really bad luck(The Drop, and The Kick). And to top it off, Pagano decided to leave us for colts(just lol).

Lets stop having the media stamp us into a sore grapes and get back on focus. That goes for players, coaches, the fans and everyone in b-more.

I really feel that if we don't address this stigma this offseason, this could be it for us for Superbowl run (like the Jets)

We are in a very thin line.

We need to turn it around and start scheming things into new perspective. We have the manpower to get it done:
The best FO in NFL (Decosta/Ozzie).
The owner that is winning to do it all.
The players (9 pro bowlers) that just will not be put down till they get the rings they so so deserve than anyone else in the league.

We've been on the superbowl run for 4 season strong. I don't think alot of team can say that.

If RAVENS didnt had something special we would have been one and done after the 2007. But we didn't. We just kept rolling, and got back again in the AFC championship this year.

The FANS FIRST needs to get the team back on track. Lets stop the quibble about the AFC game and lets move on.

GO RAVENS!

Every season, I say "maybe this year Cam will realize that he has to focus on being unpredictable, since we have such a balanced team, and put Flacco in good passing situations." And every season, there we are, relying on Flacco to produce with limited attempts, often not in rhythm, and often in third and long situations.

I don't care about Cam Cameron coming back. I don't care about Chuck Pagano leaving. I don't care about Jerry Rosburg being retained. I don't care about any of that, period.

The coaches don't play the game. The players do. So, no matter how inconsistent Cam is, if they got the job done last year, they can do it again this coming year. No excuses, no exceptions.

I didn't want Cam back, but it's done. It's over. The offseason moves forward.

I want to see the nucleus of the team return intact. I want to see more pieces added as the young contributors of last year get better. I want to see the veterans return as sharp as ever. I want to see more aggression. I want to see more focus.

Most of all, I want to see results. Belly-aching about, "OMG, CAM SUCKS," or "Man, Pagano's a jerk for leaving," doesn't change the fact that we're all sitting at home, stuck watching a game with two teams that we could care less about. Whining and moaning certainly doesn't help the Ravens any, even though it's therapeutic to us.

So, my focus is on the draft. My focus is on free agency. My focus is on worrying about getting the job done instead of predicting doom-and-gloom, because, frankly, that isn't good for anyone's stress level.

Complaining don't change anything and fans' opinions don't affect coaching and FO decision whatsoever, but it is what fans like to vent out our anger and unhappiness about the decision. It will soon heal in our heart when the draft, OTA, training, and season coming.

For now, venting out is the remedy to get over 3months of no Ravens football......

I hate Cam......

I'm curious to see who the new QB coach is and whether he can improve the passing game.

Isn't Cam still the one calling the plays on the field?

The Ravens have the possibility to open up 7-8 million in cap space this season while retaining Grubbs and Rice. It would require Birk to require, evans, foxworth to be cut, a couple of ppl not to be resigned but when all is said and done rice signed, grubbs signed, tenders all made - we have about 7-8 million that gives us the following options.

1. Extend Flacco's contract. They could extend Flacco's contract. Ultimately this would be cheaper than waiting for his contract to expire, but doing this would prevent a big move in FA this year in a class thats loaded with talent that will shift teams since their original teams probably wont be resigning them. Marques Colston on the Saints, Vjax of the Chargers, Mario Williams of the Texans due to cap reasons and other priority resignings (Foster, Drew Brees etc...). We can always just tag Flacco next year. However, I am sure Ozzie will still add to the team moderately, but no one that that will make a huge impact. I dont think it will be as good as our FA this past year was.

2. We can go out and sign Mario Williams with this money. Should we draft one more pass rusher, we would have a defense that would be on another level compared to the other teams in the league. Mario Williams can play on the line or at olb,

if we use him as an end our line becomes amazing. Ngata Cody Williams with mcphee and possibly redding to rotate in which would be amazing.

If we use him as an olb, we have suggs and williams on the outside which is also amazing.

This doesnt even include the draft where we could grab a great pass rusher either on the line or at olb to play while williams is in the other area. A lineup like would prevent double teams, and allow our pass rushers to win more battles which wins games.

3. We could go offensive and make a push for Vjax or Colston. However with only 7 million it would be cost prohibitive. While we can get away with giving williams 7-8 million a year and backload his contract to pay him later, I suspect the receivers will want 10 mil. With Cam back as coordinator, even if we get one of them I dont have much hope for them being used right.

That being said I think we should go for mario williams

Yeah, but it sounded like he wasn't happy about getting a QB coach--tried to change the subject fast lol.

The key theme for this offseason to me: extend your franchise QB and RB, and get them an offensive line that can protect them.
McKinnie will still be our LT this year, Grubbs questionable coming back, Birk old retired, Yanda safe, Oher got beat one on one too many times and falsestart.

Our draft this year is a must draft high pick with a Center, LT, and a Guard if Grubbs not coming back.

I think we need to let Jah Reid more playing times as RT; let Oher and Reid fighting out that spot.

I hope we can get a good protypical LT in 1st or 2nd round......\

We need a kickreturner; maybe in the 5th round pick.....

I was focused on the off season and getting into the draft more than I ever have, and I've been staying real positive, but this press conference got me down a bit. I'm hoping we get a QB coach, I will feel a lot more comfortable with the situation. I'm trying to get over it quick by telling myself he can change, but then I remember how I told myself that last season. Anyway, I plan on moving forward and hoping for the best. Maybe Cam will prove us wrong, we have seen well called games, right?

The only first round guard there is David DeCastro. Though I'd rather pick up Konz or a left tackle in the first as well. Kick returners, the only one I can think of is Marquis Maze. We have a guy named Philip Livas that was pretty good at it in college, but I haven't seen him on the field. Think he's a PS player.

+1!

Honestly, Im not worried. We have the FO to do all the worrying for us. This is what is great about baltimore. We always get our men, and address our issues. Gurantee we'll have another draft steal or two. That just how we roll every year.

I don't see us being a huge spender in Free agency. We have to take care of our own first. Draft wise, I know its BPA but hopefully it's an OLB, MLB or Left Tackle. Im a trench guy but I would love to find Rays Heir as well and I don't think Ellerbe can be that guy.

Excited for draft, bummed I missed Senior Bowl. Wanted to see Upshaw in action.
