Heavy Rain

So, my brother came across a game called Heavy Rain. He said it was a really great game. I personally haven't played it, but was looking to get some feedback from gamers. If you've played it, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I would like to rent it before I buy it, but I live in a po-dunk town and our video store literally only carries about 30 PS3 games at any given time. So, needless to say, this isn't one of them.

It's an excellent game but, despite the myriad of endings, it's only meant to be played once. Even the game's creator admitted it in a candid interview prior to release.

It's less of a game in the traditional sense. It's more of an interactive movie, albeit a very good one.

The game's developers are French and most of the actors are French, so their horrible American accents are a little distracting. Once you get past that, it's a unique game that I believe every PS3 owner needs to at least try once. This is a prime example of a video game operating as art.

So, sounds like I'd be better off getting it from my brother when he's finished as opposed to buying it.

Really running out of ideas for games, seeings how I cannot stand first-person shooters. All the hype surrounding 'Rage' and it turns out it's a first-person shooter. Tired of playing sports games. Have all of the Assassin's Creeds beat time-and-time again. inFamous 1 and 2. Arkham Asylum. Arkham City. I have Call Of Duty Black Ops that I haven't even opened (not for resale). Uncharted 1, 2 and 3. And Need For Speed The Run was all right, really didn't care for all of the 'out of car' bits.

Really thought Heavy Rain sounded like a decent game.

Any other suggestions, Fran?

If you haven't already played Skyrim, I highly recommend it. Even people who hate RPGs, love the game. I've yet to talk to anyone who's hated it.

I'd also recommend Saints Row The Third if you like mindless, open-world, cartoony fun. Lots of over-the-top action and humor.

If you're willing to go old-school, I highly recommend the PSOne classic RPG, Suikoden. It holds a special place in my heart and I actually prefer Suikoden I and II to the Final Fantasy games -- all of them. The music is memorable, all 108 recruitable characters have their own personalities, and the story was well ahead of its time. The mini-games are loads of fun and it's awesome to see your headquarters grow and evolve as you recruit more characters to join your army. It's only a few bucks on the PSN Store so it's a low-risk, high-reward proposition.

I can vouch for that. Until Skyrim, I haven't played a single RPG-themed game for more than five minutes and I generally hate them. But this title has a different feeling to it and it got me hooked for the first week even though I'm not that much of a gamer myself.. On a friendly note though, if you can stand RPG games and haven't played Skyrim yet, wave your life goodbye haha
