Actually the more I look at it, I like Peas. He was the D coordinator of New England from 2006-2009. In those four seasons they finished 2nd, 4th, 8th, and 5th in the league in points allowed.

Billichick is the brains of that organization.

Didn't help them on defense this season, did it? But anyone from within is the best bet, IMO, since they've all been here.

And the brains of the Defense that went from top 10 to 32nd 31st in the league after Pees left.

I think so.

It's going to be that way as long as this team continues to field a good defense.

All we need is a draft pick like Burflict or even good OT and we will forget all about it.

Very good. One thing I did notice is that he was a defensive backs coach early in his coaching career which I like in a DC. More I learn about Pees the better I like him.

He just has to retain that aggressive style. That is what this defense responds to. So long as that happens, I think we can come out without missing a hitch.

Brooks has been coaching for 36 years and is a GREAT D-Line coach, however that is all he has coached for 36 years. I might be wrong, but this would tell me that he is great at what he does, but either doesn't want to move up or is missing something needed to move up. I say let him continue to do what he is good at - D-Line.

Pees not only has 4 years as a pro DC and 4 years as a pro LB coach, he has the following college history:
- 6 years as head coach
- 15 years as DC
- 12 years coaching secondary
- 3 years as LB coach
Note: some of the years he held 2 positions such as DC and DB coach, which is why the total years seems high.

D-Line is the only thing that he hasn't coached and that is Brooks' specialty. Seems like a lot more synergy would be achieved with Pees at DC and Brooks at D-Line.

Sounds like it'll be either Dean Pees or Clarence Brooks.

Just heard on 105.7 that Harb's would probably elect Pees. However; Players seem to consider Brooks as more of a Pagano type guy in that he's a players coach. We'll probably have Pees since he's Harbaugh's guy.

Heres an article on Dean Pees from the Boston Herald if anyone wants a closer look at him.

http://bostonherald....us_with_defense

Also in this PFT article an "unnamed source" said that Pagano and Harbaugh got into a heated exchange at the end of the Texans Divisonal Round game. In all likelihood over the fact that we didn't run the ball 3 straight times in our last possession to kill timeouts or clock, when Joe threw passes on 2nd and 3rd down. Apparently it was so heated that it strained the relationship between Pagano and Harbaugh a bit.

If this is true, sweet move Harbaugh. Piss off the coordinator who was actually elite and kept the team afloat in far too many games on their own, and defend the other coordinator who crapped himself far more than putting gameplans together in Week 1 and the AFCCG.

I like Pees as a replacement, but part of me would like to see Singletary come back to Baltimore. He's just such a special NFL icon and I can still see that look in his eyes as he stared into the O backfield. He, for me, epitomizes the words defensive intensity and I don't think there would be any worries about decreased aggressiveness with Mad Mike at the helm.

Umm, Pagano is going to take a HC position whether he got into argument with Harbs or not. Besides, it was Joe who audibled to pass plays at the end of that game anyway.

No I meant of all the guys to get into a heated argument with its the guy who coordinates the defense? The unit that was consistent all year (minus San Diego). Why isn't he getting in Cameron's face about the lack of production or consistency?

That's my question. Why is Harbaugh continually going to bat for the guy who's unit clearly keeps underperforming?

If this is true, how about Pees to HC, Brooks to DC, and the Raven-nation + Ask Madden for OC? Then we all get what we want.

Sounds good to me.

We Need A Coach Who Will Be Experimental And Conservative At The Same Time ,
I agree! While I enjoyeed Pagano's penchant to gamble and be over aggressive, I don't think that he had the play calling experience (being that it was his first year) to know how to dial it back to the appropriate balance against the better veteran QB's. His style was dominant against QB's like Alex Smith but it was a bit exposed against QB's like Rivers. After that game I think he learned a lesson and ultimately called a more appropriate game against Brady. Had we tried to go at Brady like we did with Alex Smith I think we would have got torched like we did in the San Diego game.

I seriously cant stand harbaugh anymore, i have never liked him and if we retain cam and dont promote brooks as the DC i will flip. Harbauh was lucky he walked into this job with all the talent on the roster and upstairs. He woudlnt have lasted two years at another team. He is a terrible coach and needs to go. point blank.

If Cameron is retained harbaugh is by far the most idiotic coach in the league

He's a winner. His first year in Findlay, they win a national, and that defense had a lot to do with it. If I recall, I don't think any team he has been on in the NFL has been worse than 10 - 6, which is important to me because being brought up in a winning environment and being able to act like you've been there before means a lot as a coach.

Just a smart guy who knows defenses like few others do. I will be thrilled if the rumor is true, and so should everyone else!
Totally with you on Pees.

His D with the Patriots never dropped out of the top 10 and since his departure has fallen off a cliff. I still don't know how we got him as a Linebacker coach with nobody else stealing him from us, but we have to take advantage of this situation.

Pees - Defensive Coordinator

Brooks - Defensive Line

Austin - Secondary

??? (Monachino?) - Linebackers

Yep, I'm pretty happy with that defensive coaching staff.

Maybe Del Rio or Singletary come here to mentor the next Ray Lewis with Ray Lewis. I could see Singletary or Del Rio here if they don't get DC jobs.

I hope we promote Dean Pees, who have credentials and is a vocal leader who can maintain our strong defense.

Dean Pees as DC for the NE from 2006-2009

2006: #2 points allowed #5 in sacks
2007: #4 points allowed #2 in sacks
2008: #8 points allowed, lower half in sacks
2009: #5 points allowed, lower half in sacks

Pees has the experience and all the tools to make our defense like it never missed a beat with Pagano.

First, what is your reasoning to support this? I'm curious, not may think Harbs is an idiot by any stretch.

Second, it's not all Harbs decision to bring Cam back or not. Thats on Ozzie and Bisciotti from what I understand.
